This catechism is specifically designed for Catholic adults, for those who are new to the church, and especially for those who are journeying through the Rite of Chrisitian Initiation.
A very good, clear description of the Catholic faith. The author is aware of current issues Catholics deal with, but avoids any us/them discussions. Instead, he explains the faith simply and clearly, and makes me more aware (and proud) of my Catholic faith.
Introduced to this book when it was recommended as part of my friend's RCIA training. I had been raised Catholic and after living with me and practicing the faith for 12 years my friend decided to convert to Catholicism. She offered me the honor of sponsoring her in this journey. This book added so much to this experience for both of us. I had no idea how little I truly understood or valued the faith I had lived all my life. Through this journey our understanding of Catholicism, recognition of the rituals and sacraments, prayer life, morals, values, receipt of the eucharist and overall relationship with our loving God has been transformed and grown to new heights. We LOVED this book and would encourage anyone to read it.
Being a cradle Catholic, I had a lot to learn despite being involved in RCIA, a Small Christian Community (bible study) and regular church attender. This book made some things crystal clear, such as the reason Jesus came to earth and had to become man.
This is a nice question and answer summary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. It is easy to read and comprehend. There is a nice appendix in the back that gives an even briefer summary along with some basic prayers. There’s also a nice alphabetical glossary of terms in the back.
