Some terrific, terrific stories in this book, particularly those by Thoraiyer Dyer, Sara Genge, Caren Gussoff, Kenneth Mark Hoover, Katherine Sparrow, and K.D. Wentworth. Interesting and other moving musings on the nature of possible alien and human interactions.

In general, Destination: Future falls under the category of "Why in the hell haven't I read this sooner!?" Destination: Future is a truly excellent anthology of short science fiction, with almost all twenty-one stories winners. Let me put it this way: A few of the stories hit home runs. The rest hit out-of-the-park grand slams. Good science fiction makes you think. The best science fiction—into which this collection falls—makes you think hard and raises serious questions. On more than one occasion during the reading of this book, I had to pause to let the heady ideas sink in; that's clearly a good thing. I recommend this book to anyone, not just those who enjoy science fiction.
"Worst" story: Fredrick Obermeyer's "The Hangborn". Not a bad story, just didn't leave me with too much to think about; still a four-star story.
Best story: Sherry D. Ramsey's "Encountering Evie". This story made me weep, in all the best ways imaginable.
Favorite story: Mike Resnick's "Monuments of Flesh and Stone". A cute little story about basketball, which I believe my dad would get a kick out of.
Most bizarre stories: James Gunn's "The Gingerbread Man" and Lawrence M. Schoen's "Mars Needs Baby Seals". Words cannot begin to describe these stories.
Most chilling story: Michael Barretta's "The Angel of Mars". I shuddered at the end of this story, for good reason.
For the rest, I guess you'll have to find out for yourself, won't you. :-)
