I remember I used to love this book when i was little. Now, the best thing about it are the pictures, but I do know that I'm not five anymore so that's probably why. There are 6 duck facts in the very back of the book.

They get an extra star for the non-fiction pages at the end. The stories are pretty decent and generally have some sort of lesson to them.

The Hungry Duckling by Claude Clement is about a duckling who finds himself with a bunch of chicks. He is very hungry so he goes on a mission to find food. He finds a snail, a frog and even his mother but it's not until he finds a little kingfisher that he dives down into a pond to find his food. At the end of the book there are more facts about ducks. This is a great book to read to kids and for them to read themselves it is a fairly easy read. I think it would be best for 1-4th grade. I enjoyed these books as a kid and still do as an adult.

The hungry duckling is a story about a duckling who didn't hatch near his mother, so he goes from animal to animal asking what ducks eat. This book is full of repetition which allows younger readers to feel more involved in telling the story. The pictures in this book are vibrant and fun to look at. This is a good book to read to children to teach them what ducks and other various animals eat. To add another level of engagement, the reader might ask children what they see happening in the pictures before reading the page. This allows the children to share what they think will happen.

A story about a little duck trying to figure out whats right for him in his world. This is a book that could just be read aloud in class.
