Sandy loves to help her neighbor, Miss Berry, take care of all the cats she collects. First there's Blackberry, then Knobbles, and Shadow and Honey, Creamy Paws, Panther, and Strawberry. Soon there are thirty, then fifty. In no time at all, Sandy and Miss Berry are caring for more than 80 cats!
Miss Berry finds a stray kitten, and one cat leads to another, and another, and another, and... When the 89th kitten shows up, so does the county, and Miss Berry must figure out how to find homes for most of her beloved feline friends. The story is told from the perspective of Sandy, the little girl down the street who befriends Miss Berry and helps her take care of the cats. Cute story. And if you need a name for a cat, perhaps you'll find an idea from this book!
I read this book about thirty years ago as a child and loved sharing it with my children. Its a lovely story about family and friendship and a must for cat lovers to read. Ive always remembered this book over my life and itwas wonderful to read it again. My kids loved it as much as I did, thank you for this lovely story.
The title was hilarious so I had to read the book as a self proclaimed cat lady. Lol. It was cute and does have some sweet moments about compassion and empathy. It’s problematic in that they were fed milk and in one case chocolate. Sometimes the writing was a bit jumpy. I hated the very abrupt ending. Could have used another paragraph to name the 89th kitten….. 😹
