As a book written for a student audience, 'Lenin: Liberator Or Oppressor?' is expectedly succinct, chronological and lacking in real depth.
However, the book does provide a good overall look at Lenin as a person, as a symbol, as a philosopher and as a politician, without passing clear judgement. Particularly interesting, is the 'Histiography' chapter; where the views of a variety of Western and Soviet historians on Lenin are summarised and critiqued.
A pretty superficial overview of Lenin and his role in the formation of the Soviet Union. As objective as one can be on the matter but unfortunately reads in the historical textbook style that is set - tersely chronological, and at some points quite disjunct.
