Highly recommend this book for anyone preparing for the RICA! This was my primary study source for the RICA, and I passed on my first try. The organization of this guide, combined with all of the helpful hints, really simplifies the process, and makes the test seem more understandable and less overwhelming. I'm not going to lie, the test is still a beast; but the breakdown provided here is fantastic, and a true confidence booster!

It does what it's purposed to do -- help you cover all the bases before your RICA exam in CA.

What is the RICA? Oh, it's a test that all multiple-subject candidates in CA need to take to prove their competency in reading instruction.

It has a comprehensive, outlined overview of everything from linguistics to literacy theory to practice and such.

I passed the RICA easily with this guy's help. But it also probably helped that my master's was in Language and Literacy. (yet CA still needed me to cough up $80 and take this test anyway. boogers)

This was a helpful study guide with a lot of information that I found useful. There are no practice tests in the book, but there is one online that the author recommends. I took the RICA yesterday, so we'll see if this book got me through it.
