#23 of the Carrier series. The rating might be a little higher as a stand-alone novel but this is supposed to be the final book of a series and does nothing to address the hanging plot lines from previous entries. 22 books devoted to carrier based air power - specifically Tomcats and Hornets - and then a 23rd book that is devoted to adding weapons and makeshift bombsights to air show WWII relics and then training them to fly a special mission from a carrier's deck. A complete non sequiter.

Carrier series - When a group of modern-day Japanese samurai begins an assault on the high seas, the only force standing between them and total victory is the might of Carrier Battle Group Fourteen. Totally abandons ongoing story lines from the first 22 books of the series - the 14th CBG is an afterthought.

I bought this book at a yard sale for $1.50 and I didn't even realize at the time it was a 23rd and last book of the series. I have ZERO recollection of this book however, it's on my Read shelf so I must have read it. I also know that if I read it and finished it that it couldn't have been all bad. I'm not big on action adventure and it's outside my normal horror, thriller, sci fi wheelhouse but maybe one day I'll pick it up and re read it and do an actual review
