perfect book to scare the kids. this isn't one of those "its bad now but it will be okay" books, this is "its bad now, but honey, turn the page its gonna get worse" books. even in the drawings of 1.0 and 2.0 quakes people going through them look terrified.
the author gives one comforting aside "There are over a million earthquakes a year, some are tiny." or put another way, of the million earthquakes a year, some are small, but the rest will bury you, mommy, daddy and billy under tons of earth! have a nice day.
one genuinely bad/wrong piece of advice - get under a doorway. no, don't, get under something sturdy.
