Outstanding! The psychologist supervising the treatment center where I did my internship used this book, among others, as a text for us, and I've benefited ever since from what I learned - too often we get hung up on the problems, but it's more useful to focus not so much on the current situation or how it got this way as on what the client wants and how to get from here to there.

Practical and resourceful, an excellent read for a student or new therapist practicing a walk-in or brief-therapy model.

I love this book. As others have mentioned the subtitle is incorrect. This is a great intro to solution focused therapy. The writing is so rich but written with such economy, I'm not sure how the authors did it. The case examples with transcript excerpts are very helpful. The way the authors think about change and phrase questions is immediately applicable to clinical practice. I find the details and the overall philosophy to be so helpful. I recommend to every mental health practitioner.
