A skeleton is found entombed in a hundred-year-old tree, then another, fresher body in a much younger tree. Is it a century-old killer? Or a family of murderers who've passed their grisly trade down through the generations? Brilliant FBI Agent Ella Porter, currently banished to the small town of Nome, discovers a woman's remains in an ancient tree and the clues bring her to a small, secluded lake town in the beautiful inland of Alaska. Meanwhile, a wraith from her past wants to forge an unlikely alliance, but some boundaries can't be uncrossed. Aided by an unwanted informant, as well as her old friend, Brenner Gunn, Ella Porter sets out to solve her most harrowing case yet. Meanwhile, secrets from her past are being unearthed, and threats are closing in.
Having worked on projects with New York Times Bestsellers and USA Today bestsellers, Georgia Wagner recently hit #1 bestseller with her newest series. Location and character are two big factors for Georgia, and getting those right allows the story to flow seamlessly onto the page. And flow it does, because Georgia is so prolific a new term is required to describe the rate at which nerve-tingling stories find their way into print.
When not found attached to a laptop, Georgia likes spending time in local arboretums, among the trees and ponds. An avid cultivator of orchids, begonias, and all things floral, Georgia also has a strong penchant for art, paintings, and sculptures. A many-decades-long passion for mystery novels and years of chess tournament experience makes Georgia the perfect person to pen the Artemis Blythe series. That's where it all started, but the drive to craft thrilling mystery tales soon demanded new characters in new locations.
Ella is on a new case, albeit not an FBI case, egged on by The Graveyard Killer who claims that at least 20 women are missing from a tiny , hidden community in Alaska? Can she keep him from going rogue, killing because he wants to rid the world of another killer, instead of just finding who is taking the missing women and letting justice take its role? Brenner gets roped into helping them, and it's a good thing he's along. What they find is quite bizarre, weird people in this community, secrets abound. Another hit in the Ella Porter series by Wagner.
This is the 3rd in the series. You don't have to read them in order, but you would be missing out if you didn't read the first two.
In this one, Ella Porter, who is an FBI agent was sent to the town of Nome, Alaska because in a case she was on trying to capture the "Graveyard Killer", she let him get away.
Now she has been in Nome Alaska working murder cases with an unlikely partner, Brenner Gunn, who twelve years ago walked away from her. After returning from a dangerous case, Ella returns to her room to get some much needed rest, but what she finds is that someone was sent to kill her and the "Graveyard Killer" has saved her life for the 2nd time.
This is a thrill a minute and will definitely keep you turning those pages!!!
Ella goes rogue to find a killer that roams the North of Alaska with the help of a long-time friend, Brenner, and they are both joined by the Graveyard Killer, who had tipped her about this serial killer. She's conflicted by having the help of a serial killer, but he had saved her life and claims that he only kills those who are killers... They end up discovering a cult that is intertwined with the community and the killings and they have to go through an extraordinary amount of work and information digging to reach the culprits. The story has a good plot, is well-written, and is fast-paced. I thank the author for the ARC.
Ella is following the killer she let loose. he knows of someone who has killed at least twenty people
Mortimer has led Ella to a cult in a town called Parcel. He has asked for her help in finding a friends daughter who has gone missing. He also explains that there have been at least twenty other girls missing at same town. He wants the hunt to be legal this time. At least he promises not to hurt a hair on his suspects head. Strange promise but he made it. But Ella also brings back up in Marshall Brennen the only man she trust at her back. Things don’t go very good at the sight and all hell is let loose.
Needs must... When FBI agent, Ella Porter, is contacted about 20 murders in a remote Alaska area, she teams up with someone she never thought she would in order to solve the case. Each story in this series is set in Alaska, which is cold and foreboding, but also harbours the lead characters' family, which are not loving or even kind towards her. So there is the detective work to find killers, while "someone" is also focused on killing her! All of these aspects keep the stories moving at a fast pace and keeps that adrenaline rush going to the very last page!
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I waited a few books in to decide if I was going to like them or not. First, it uses the GD word in every book, just too much for me. The story lines are ok but not great. However there is some catchy things for me to want to continue on reading at least another book or two. I'm interested in how the story line with the ghost killer is going to play out as well as her getting her corrupt family taken down. I hope the stories will continue to improve.
This series is a real strange one. A fugitive, serial killer helping an FBI "friend" yet he is on the right side of wrongdoers. Rich private citizens showing up and seemingly running the show. Family hiring hit men to kill a family member who is with the FBI. What a true head scratcher.
This series has me hooked. I'm committed to read straight through even though the final book doesn't come out until 2024. I'll have to be patient. Once again, a new mystery, but with the continuing story of why she let a serial killer free. Add in the animosity of her family and it reads like a soap opera.
Really enjoyed this book!! Ella makes a choice concerning the Graveyard Killer and she doesn't know if she can trust him. Things are not what they seem like in Parcel and there's A lot of danger finding out the truth. Makes for a interesting story!!
I'm really enjoying the Ella Porter series. If you can, read them in order because this author doesn't repeat the characters backgrounds in every book, which I'm extremely grateful for. Looking forward to new releases from G. Wagner.
Enjoying these short reads and scenery. Bizarre missing details oftentimes. Like what happened to the dead guy in the hotel in the middle of the day. Just glossed over that. Will read the next to round out the series (so far...) as I don't have anything lined up to read next.
A chilling, scary installment of the Ella Porter series. Phenomenal characters blend together flawlessly to create one awesome story. Very Highly Recommended.
Ella's past comes to save her, but did he really? Ella, Brenner, and Graves travel to Parcel. What awaits them will send shivers down the reader's spine.
I am exhausted from all this swimming underwater!!! I don't know how Ella does it!!! Who do you trust??? I enjoyed this story and recommended the book,
Another great book in the series. I love that I can go from book number 1 to 2 and so on and the story just continues. It’s like reading one long story in several books. I like it.
