You Are Not Alone

Being an entrepreneur is scary. From late payments to bank crisis, often the future of your business rides on one crucial decision--one you have to make all on your own.
But it doesn't have to be that way. Others have faced the same problems, and for the first time have gathered to share their advice.
Through stories and lessons from entrepreneurs who have been there, you'll discover how to handle such situations

-- We didn't know if anyone would show up
-- I lost 25 percent of my business in one day
-- We trusted the wrong people
-- I got sick and couldn't work
-- My customer wouldn't pay

Knowing is half the battle. Be prepared and ready to win.

Since this year the small business I work at has gotten even smaller, with increased proximity to the Small Business Owner Himself, this title jumped out at me from the business section at the library.

In a nutshell, the ugly truth is that adversity happens. Things can go wrong, even catastrophically wrong, without warning. To succeed requires flexibility, persistence, and even throwing in the towel when necessary.

As a rule, I hate business books. This one was too long and had a variety of different information, but I liked that it wasn't just a single person's viewpoint and it explored many, many different scenarios for things that could go wrong. Their solutions are mostly obviously, but got a very small number of interesting ideas.

Great book for small business owners. It is nice to see others are having the same problems as I am.

Anecdotally, the book had some good real life examples. Save yourself the hassle of reading all 50 narratives and just skip to part two. It did a good job of shedding some light on the darker side of starting your own business. There was a little more "faith in God" than I prefer and wasn't expecting. It turned me off occasionally as I read.

Skimmed maybe half of it. The stories contradict each other and there is no cohesive thread to the book. A number of the stories are not even about small businesses as most of us think of them.
