This Little Golden Book is based on Disney Wish —in theaters fall 2023!
Walt Disney Animation Studios Wish is set to release Fall 2023, during the Studio’s 100th year. A film that could only come from Disney Animation, the epic animated musical is inspired by the legacy of films from the studio and asks the “How did the wishing star, upon which so many characters wished, come to be?” The story, set in Rosas, the kingdom of wishes where wishes can literally come true, follows Asha—an optimist with a sharp wit who cares endlessly about her community. In a moment of desperation, Asha makes an impassioned plea to the stars, which is answered by a cosmic force, a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, they face the most formidable of foes to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen. This Little Golden Book retelling of the animated feature film is perfect for children ages 2 to 5, as well as Disney Little Golden Book collectors of all ages!
Little Golden Books enjoy nearly 100% consumer recognition. They feature beloved classics, hot licenses, and new original stories . . . the classics of tomorrow.
After realizing that Griselda Sastrawinata-Lemay, who was an Associate Production Designer on the movie Wish, was the artist behind the Moana Little Golden Book, I decided to read this in the hope that she illustrated this book as well. She didn't, but the art of Joey Chou is just as good, and I love this movie anyway, so it did not disappoint. Unlike the Moana 1 and 2 Little Golden Books, this one does a really good job at adapting Wish without leaving too many details out. My only pet peeve with this is that they claimed Asha was going to ask Magnifico to grant Sabino's wish all along, when in reality we know it was an impromptu decision on Asha's part. The illustrations were a feast for the eyes since I love this style.
