Temptation, thy name is Sunday Fallon, and I am done resisting. Once upon a time I’d been a priest, but she’d made a sinner of me and now I welcomed damnation.

She’d always been my destiny. The woman whose life was tied to mine. I just hadn’t planned on falling in love and being forced to choose between my vows and my soul.

No matter how deep my connection to her ran, I had a greater purpose I was meant to serve. And now that she was carrying the Harbinger of the Apocalypse–the result of our passion–I had to get her away from the rest of them.

Her god of mischief.
Her devoted wolf.
Her dark prince.

She belongs to me…Her twisted captor.

If she’ll let me, I’ll keep her. Hide her from everyone and everything that means to destroy her. Stop what’s coming and make her mine forever. Because Sunday Fallon is more than temptation. She’s my new religion.

I’ve made my choice. This time I will not falter. I will worship at her altar and forsake all others. No matter the consequence.

The seals are broken.

Armageddon is coming.

And I’m ready for War.

Warning: This book is not for the faint of heart. It contains an obsessive stalker, a foul-mouthed, inked and pierced werewolf, a naughty professor with a fondness for watching, a god of mischief, and plenty of heat. If you don’t like your books spicy, your men broody, built, and more bad than good, this is not the series for you. But if you do...read on, and welcome to The Mate Games.

Second read: Well, I flew through this series even though it was my second time listening to it. It's still as addictive.

I think I enjoyed it more this time because I knew how things would go between Sunday and Caleb... So details bothered me less than the first time I read the book because of that.

_______________________

“Magical baby batter. Who knew the Apocalypse would be started by a gang bang?”

This book picks up right where Possession ended, with Caleb having kidnapped Sunday to fulfill his mission, save the world from the Apocalypse, and also hoping to ultimately save Sunday’s life. Caleb was also promised to get his soul back if he completed his mission, but it gets harder and harder for him to keep focusing on his mission when it means killing Sunday’s daughter and losing Sunday's love forever, because she might love him now despite what he did, but there is no way she will ever forgive him if he goes through with the plan.

I am a little annoyed that Sunday was apart from 3 of her mates for half of the book, even if it allowed her to finally clear things up with Caleb. I like her guys, and I was hoping for the 5 of them to spend more time together. I feel as though they were always separated. In the second book, Noah was away, then Alek was away, and now Sunday is isolated from Alek, Noah, and Kingston… It helped with the building of the relationships between her and the guys, but it was frustrating at the same time.

“You told me you brought me here to destroy my daughter. If I have to choose between her or you, I choose her. Every fucking time. So yes, Caleb. I’m going to murder you to save her.”

This book is also darker than the previous ones. The apocalypse is near, there are some plagues already starting, and many people die, but at the same time it feels as if those events were added for shock value and extra drama, but it was not that developed or elaborated. Some plagues (locusts, sickness, water turning to blood) happened, but we never really knew if it was War’s doing, or if it was because Sunday was getting closer to giving birth. There are also many deaths, but it is mentioned, some characters grieve, and then it gets kind of forgotten in the overall plot. There is no real closure or explanation as to why it happened specifically to those characters (I am sorry if that’s unclear, I don’t want to spoil anything by giving too many details).

I was supposed to be angry with him, but it was impossible to get my heart and body on board with my mind. Logic was not in charge here. He had a hold on me I couldn’t shake.

“I might be your prisoner, and I might be your mate, so you hold a power over me I can’t ignore. But that doesn’t mean I have to give you my heart. Know that, the next time you use our connection against me. It isn’t love. It isn’t real. It isn’t me. When I give you my body, it’s a means to an end. My way of scratching an itch, nothing more.”

Sunday’s reactions and choices when it comes to Caleb left me a little shocked and frustrated. While I loved Caleb in the previous books and I understand his reasoning and his tough position in this one, the fact remains that he kidnapped Sunday and is planning on killing her daughter. Sunday is royally pissed at him, and rightfully so, but at the same time, she can’t seem to resist him and his kinky side, so she has sex with him even though she is planning on killing him to save her daughter and she repeatedly said how much she hated him. I understand the mate pull is also to be taken into consideration, but I just couldn’t completely enjoy the smuttier scenes between them in the first half of the book because I was just annoyed with Sunday’s inability to resist him and hate him "for real" for what he was planning on doing.

“As for you three, we only have two other rooms, so you’re going to have to double up. I’ll let you decide who’s sharing.”
“I guess I call big spoon, Kingston,” Alek said as Thorne raced up the stairs before anyone else.
Ash snorted. Kingston grunted. “You try and cuddle me, Nordson, and I’ll hump your leg, I fucking swear.”
“Is that a promise? You wanna be a good dog and keep me warm by sleeping with me in your furry form?”
There was another hiccup of laughter from beside me. “I hate you.”
“I love you too, buddy.”

The chemistry between the guys gets better and better with each book, and we are finally able to see them working as a unit in this book, instead of simply being 4 guys with a shared interest in Sunday. They also care about each other, and it starts to show. I really like how their bond developed slowly, but surely over the series, and how they balance each other out. There is always one of them who can bring the others around when they are being irrational or losing their shit.

“Your dad looks like he needs to get laid, Thorne.”
The vampire prince had me shoved up against the wall before I was finished speaking. “Don’t.”
Cashel cut me a glance. “You’re not wrong.”
Thorne shuddered. “Stop. I beg you.”

OMG! The banting and bromance between Noah and Kingston continue and it was hilarious and sweet at the same time. The way they supported each other and called each other “pack” or “family” was so heartwarming, but the way they “bonded” over their loss of Sunday with Kingston’s video was just hilarious... and maybe a little awkward (if you know, you know).

“Okay, Moira. We’re all listening. Balls firmly in check. What does team ovary have for us?”

Team ovaries for the win. Moira stole my heart in this series, and I love how the authors managed to give her a kind of happy ending with Ash, even though they are not the main couple of the series. Seeing them both stand together and seeing their coven slowly accept their relationship was very satisfying. I said it in my review of the third book, but I would love to read a spinoff about Moira and Ash.

Overall, I really enjoyed this series, and I devoured it. It is addictive, entertaining, fast-paced, and very spicy. It earned its place on my "favorite shelf", and this final book would probably have been a 4.5 or 5 stars read too if it wasn't for Sunday's annoying behavior with Caleb in the first half of the book, and the fact that she was apart from her guys for most of the book to. Still, this is a great RH paranormal series if you are looking for something with an interesting world-building, a good enough plot, and a lot of smut.

The four horsemenwomen!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙💚💜❤️🖤
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 🤐🤫🫣😍
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Duet Narration – Full Cast

The heroine: Sunday - she is a wolf shifter whose mother may or may not be the devil. She is pregnant and her baby may or may not be prophesied to be the bringer of the apocalypse. She doesn’t know which of her men is the father. She has been attacked by the Fae, the vampire council and more. Neither she nor her baby is safe.

The Heroes: Noah, Caleb, Kingston & Alek - Noah Blackthorne (a vampire prince who wants nothing more than to keep Sunday safe), Caleb Gallagher (a vampire and former Priest who is working for the archangel Gabriel and has known about the prophecy all along), Kingston Farrell (Sunday’s werewolf mate who is snarky and grumpy but will stick by Sunday no matter what), Alek Nordson (a viking berserker demigod whose memories of his mate were taken from him, but has made every effort to get to know her again).

The Story: As you can probably tell by the title of this one, it starts out focusing mostly on Caleb Gallagher (The Priest). Who has been working with the Society, the heads of all the families and the angel Gabriel to prevent the apocalypse. He has been charged with keeping an eye on Sunday but has been attracted to her since the start. His guilt nearly kept him from her, but he couldn’t stay away.

Caleb was working with the group was in exchange for his soul. Gabriel promised the vampire priest that he could restore Caleb’s soul if Caleb prevented the apocalypse and he vowed to do so. I liked this book because Caleb was the most interesting of Sunday’s men. This book immediately went into his past in the eighteen hundreds when he was a priest and was turned into a vampire.

A lot of different things happened in this book. It got creepy and religious. Signs of the apocalypse like locusts and plague, four horsemen and more. Sunday and her guys were separated for much of the book after she was kidnapped. There was all sorts of mayhem, some of which I didn’t particularly like, but it did keep things interesting.

The book is told in multiple points of view via duet narration and narrated by a full cast. This series is narrated by Stella Hunter, Jason Clarke, JF Harding, James Joseph, Aaron Shedlock and a special appearance by Shane East. I am getting spoiled after listening to this entire series in one long binge. It will be hard to go back to solo and dual narrated audiobooks after this.

HAPPY RELEASE DAY TO TEMPTATION!

WOW, OKAY, WHAT?? IT'S OVER?? NOOOOO.

Good news though, THERE WILL BE A SPINOFF!!!!! My crossover/spinoff maniac self is already very happy, imagine how happy I'll be when it's out.

After that CRUEL ending in the last book, Sunday and Caleb can't help but fight. And make up. And fight. And make up again. I really enjoyed the make ups, yes I did.

I felt so bad for Alek, Noah and Kingston when they couldn't reach her, the poor boys suffered, and they suffered again when they finally found her. And so will you, dear reader, along with them, because there is a twist that made me want to scream. And I did, but internally because I don't need my neighbours questioning my sanity more than they already do.

It made me cry, and it was even worse than the Possession ending. WHY WOULD YOU PLAY WITH MY EMOTIONS LIKE THAT??? IT'S NOT FAIR! And it very well could've ended like that, and then I'd just be crying for all eternity.

Luckily it didn't end like that. CRISIS AVERTED. We got a nice, happy ending and two epilogues to boot. One was like a few mini epilogues in one, and the other a bonus epilogue related to the spinoff.

One thing though, the apocalypse/final battle could've been longer, because I felt like we had all this build up from past books for it to be over in no time. I started panicking a hundred pages away from the ending because how could more apocalypse stuff possibly fit, and yeah, not much of it did.

Buuuut, I do like how everything ended, and that the story is continuing. Maybe there will be yet another apocalypse in the spinoff? Who knows.

And last, but by no means least, my final mate ranking (for now). Alek (are we surprised? No we aren't) > Caleb (ditto, I'd like to think he grew closer to Alek's ranking in this book though) > Kingston (SHOCKER, ALARM BELLS RINGING, WAS I ABDUCTED BY ALIENS ETCETERA ETCETERA) > Noah (I am so sorry Noah, but you just didn't do much in this book, I had to put you last).

*Thank you to the authors for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

Ok i enjoyed the first 2 books but by the end of this book I was just glad it was over. If there is a more selfish character in any book series ever I have yet to read about them. Yeah, woo-hoo, amazing. She saved her 1 baby to bad millions of people had to die. Yea im a mother and would definitely sacrifice a child to stop the entire world from ending. Millions of parents lost kids, including her mates mom but oh well at least her baby survived. I really don't understand how people thought this was a great ending because I spent the entire last book upset and angry

I wish I could give this less than a 1. The moment Caleb said he was going to kill her baby and she had sex with him afterward just because "she couldn't help it." She lived him. That was it. Sunday got worse and qorse as this series progressed. I tried to finish the series but it just keeps getting worse.

Plot ⭐️⭐️
Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Vibes 👏🏻👏🏻.5

The fact that this took me 10 days to finish should tell you everything you need to know. The first 50% was so slow and repetitive. Caleb literally never explains much about WHY he did what he did and he certainly never apologizes. Sunday goes from being his unwilling captive trying to figure out how to kill him to marrying him shortly after because she's so in love with him. I'm also a little frustrated because I am pro-choice so if I was told my baby was going to bring on the apocalypse and the literal end of the fucking world from the get-go, you can bet money that I'd become unpregnant so fucking fast. (*from the get-go being key here- if she had been told later in her pregnancy then this would be different IMO but she found out FAST what it would mean if she were to carry to term and give birth)

1) there's more than 1 way to have a family and 2) why should other mothers lose their living, breathing kids/family members just because I wanted to have a biological child. Sorry but fuuuuuck that. The climax felt rushed and overall I was just bored. Great spice though so if you're looking for something spicy - this series will be great for you.

Talk about a wild ride. "Temptation" brought all the FEELS!!! An amazing conclusion to The Mate Games Series.

With the world on the brink of the Apocalypse; time is of the essence. Loyalties are tested and Kingston, Noah and Alek realizes that all they have is each other until they are able to get their Mate back. Now that the seals are open and tragedy strikes those near and dear to Sunday and her mates the fate of the world hangs in the balance.

Sunday, Noah, Kingston, Alex and Caleb has gone through so many challenges and fought to the bitter end for their well deserved HEA.

This series is hands down one of the BEST Paranormal Romance series of 2022. I can definitely re read each book over and over. I'm almost sad to see it come to an end.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I had a really hard time sticking with this when Sunday was hanging out and having sex with a dude who kidnapped her, told her he set her up, and wants to kill her baby. I get that she loves Caleb, but lady, he wants to get his soul back by murdering your newborn. Should have left him in the sun if you ask me. If you’re having a hard time with the same, it moves on at about 40%, but I had a hard time not rooting for Caleb to die a miserable death after the start. I really hated that more than half of this book was Sunday and Caleb alone in a cabin playing at husband and wife.

Things get dark with the boys who are left behind.

As with the last couple of books, the Kingston-Noah bromance is my favorite relationship of the series. They still don’t bang. It’s a let down.

They should have put Moira in charge of protecting Sunday. While the harem is busy ignoring the apocalypse and banging, she leaves 12 messages saying “Hey guys, some bad ladies are coming.” The harem:”Oh, this nice lady turned up unexpectedly with some apple pie, let’s eat! What could go wrong?”

The end of this book is actually pretty good. But getting there was annoying.

I am not really sure how to rate this book. First of all- I liked the series enough to want to know how it ended and to finish it. Beyond that, I FORCED myself to read this. I was constantly distracted and wanting to read other books. I was so close to giving up but after being so committed, I ultimately just decided to finish. 50% of this book is her being “trapped” with the one guy that she was basically not able to have for the previous 3 books. You think it would be fair since we have had plenty of scenes with the other guys, but I missed them.

Honestly, at about halfway through - I just wanted this book to be over. I was done and irritated. And then the plot twist ended up being a trope (?) that I genuinely don’t enjoy (four horseman themes). The ending was anti climactic as well. So much drama and a blah ending. I am relieved it’s over and I just don’t want to spend any more time even reviewing the series. I've heard the audiobooks are better and I should have waited and listened to those as I prefer audio to eyeball reading

I had high expectations for Temptation and it surpassed them easily. Each book in the series has lead to this and Temptation doesn't waste a moment.

One of the things this story does well is balance. There are a lot of absolutely heart breaking moments, but they are sprinkled amongst the funny and spicy scenes. It keeps the tension going until the very end of the book without overwhelming you.

The spicy scenes are some of the best, yet. You will find yourself going back to read them over and over. Caleb especially shines.

Unlike many series that start to falter towards the end, this is one of the few that gets stronger and stronger. You will not know the ending until the journey is over.

I am glad I have recommended this story to all of my friends, and they are equally happy I got them to read it.

I liked the series up until this book. I’m sorry but Caleb is unlikeable and I just couldn’t read the spice scenes between him and Sunday after . Caleb’s behavior was assault-y and caught me off guard. I also ended up not liking Sunday and how predictable and naive of a heroine she became. Everyone was an idiot. I DNF-ed.

*ALC received from Audibly Addicted in exchange for my honest review. *

Once upon a time Father Gallagher might have been the savior but now, he is the wicked and depraved soul we all crave. Meg Anne & K. Loraine seriously broke every part of my body with Temptation.

First, we became Obsessed.
Then we had to go through Rejection.
Possession came next.
And now, we face Temptation.

What happens when you can no longer resist Temptation? Sunday Fallon's life has not been the same since she came to Ravenscroft University. Finding out you have a mate much less four of them is bound to change your life. Now, months later and she is deeply in love with all of her men, and she loves their child more than anything, but something is coming. Something, that could alter the course of the world forever. And her unborn daughter is the one in danger.

"Who knew the apocalypse would be started by a gangbang."

Temptation was vastly more emotional than the three previous books in this series. Getting Father Gallagher's story really helped understand his choices. He never set out to do harm, but fate sometimes plays a part in your story even when you don't realize it. The time Sunday and Caleb spent in the cabin was something I had been craving. Those moments really gave us a look at the man Caleb was always supposed to be.

Don't worry though there were still plenty of moments where Sunday was at the mercy of her wolf, her dark prince, and her god of mischief.

This wasn't a narration; this was a god's damn performance. Stella Hunter literally carried the weight of every single female in this entire series, and she blew my mind. Daddy Gallagher performed by Jason Clarke was seriously the sexiest narration I have ever heard. And I've heard sexy Jason Clarke before, but this was explosive. Our delicious god Alec was performed by Aaron Shedlock and to say I have been sleeping on him is an understatement. Since hearing him in Obsession I have been well... Obsessed. J.F. Harding will always be Kingston because he owned the performance of that sexy and cocky wolf. James Joseph is the newest narrator to me, but he slayed as Noah. Seriously, I forgot how sexy vampires could be until him. And if all that isn't enough to tickle your tastebuds there are guest performances by Jacob Morgan and Teddy Hamilton.

The Mate Games is one of those series that will be relistened to again over the years because it was nothing short of perfection. From Sunday and her mates to all the characters we have met along the way as well as some of the characters we got to see again. K. Loraine and Meg Anne gave us a sexy paranormal romance series with some of the spiciest scenes I have ever read. Not to mention all the swoon worthy moments along the way. Buckle up buttercup, you are in for so much more than you could imagine!!

So. That was a pretty satisfying ending.
The journey was sort of just..meh. But I liked the ending.

The plot was mostly what I felt meh about.
It was just revealed at a weirdly slow pace for three books and then it felt like someone hit fast forward in this last book. Concept was pretty cool, but execution wasn’t my favorite.

The relationships and the characters themselves I liked a lot more.
It was a little rocky there for a couple of them. Kingston had a whole moment in the first book that I was Not about, but he wasn’t with Sunday at the time and never had been so I got over it enough to enjoy the series after things were hashed out. Plus he turned out to be a cute little dirty mouthed himbo of a man so it worked out.
Then there was Caleb. Jesus. Literally. Fuck, his guilt was rough to get over. I Stayed frustrated with that man. He was so hot and cold all the time. I mean I get why. But still. After a while it was a bit much. And then, he just sort of flips..? With hardly any prompting? I don’t know. I was too happy to finally get him on board and with the program to really feel it at the time, but it was weird.

The sex was hot. There were some kinky bits, but I personally wouldn’t classify this series as kinky..I don’t know. My brain just says this doesn’t exactly fit with the other books in my ‘kinked’ list, so it doesn’t go. There was vamps, so obviously there was some fangs and blood exchanges, but I wouldn’t necessarily call that ‘blood play’. There was a ‘Daddy’ kink, but it was more because he was a priest, AKA ‘Father’, than it was about DD/lg play. There was some light spanking, and some very light bondage, and some even lighter switching…I don’t know. Maybe I Should put it in the ‘kinked’ category…I just feel like it was on the cusp, but not fully in the category.🤷🏻‍♀️ That’s most likely just me.

I don’t know.
I thought it was an enjoyable, smutty series, I just don’t exactly know why I was so hyped to read it right when it was finished…

Okay, this one was marginally better. HOWEVER, the whole misunderstanding that caused Sunday to be where she is at, does not make sense. I don't believe a mate would ever believe that and jumping to a conclusion that quickly does not make sense. I like the growth that Caleb does and while there were some solid sexy times, I liked that he finally got over this wishy washy, back and forth. Some of it made sense, but this went on for far too long and it didn't make sense when he would change his mind. I liked finding out everything. I'm glad this series is over and I'm sad I didn't love it as much as everyone else. Solid ideas, just not my cup of tea.

This is my favorite of the series, mostly because of Caleb. 🥰 Oh, I love him so much!!!

But…. Are we just gonna forget Alek lost his memories? Lol

Also that epilogue was so long omg. And for what?! These epilogues are getting out of control. The authors must be stopped.

Okay now that that’s out of the way, I already miss Caleb so much I could cry. 😭😭😭 This series was incredible. That scene where they were all mimicking each other’s accents? Dead.

I loved the way the entire series tied together. Beautiful. Except the memory thing but Alek was the least important so it’s fine. 😂

Best PNR Series of 2022

Our lovely Sunday Fallon has gone from naïve and virtuous to the bawdy baddie that can save the world all with the love of her men by her side. From our vampire prince Noah, wolf bully turned lover Kingston, Alek the demi-god who makes us swoon – they all have been there by her side ready to support her each step of the way. But as we enter book 4 Father Caleb’s full story comes out of the shadows. We find out about his turning from priest to vampire in heartbreaking detail. The heartbreak continues as we find out just how far Daddy G is willing to go to stop the end of the world…will it be enough to prove his love to Sunday?

All the awards should go to K. Loraine and Meg Anne for this completely unique series they brought to life and put a bow on with TEMPTATION, book 4 of THE MATE GAMES. I’ve never been so captivated and had friends so thoroughly engrossed in a PNR series like we have with this rollercoaster of four books.

Not only is this writing spectacular in this final installment with all the missing pieces locking into place, but we are also given audio performances that are out of this world. From Stella Hunter’s leading role as Sunday and every other female character with absolute veteran-like excellence, to Jason Clarke having a bulk of the male POV in TEMPTATION, this becomes an aural delight like no other. Stars J.F. Harding, Aaron Shedlock, & James Joseph reprise their roles of Sunday’s mates and provide the emotion, steam, & down right laughter that has become a hallmark of the series. The epic #KinkFest concludes with all the reasons to keep hydrated as there isn’t a spice level high enough to cover what happens. Listeners & readers alike will find reasons to highlight *multiple* chapters as our authors did not hold back bringing every fantasy to light.

All in all, this is the BEST PNR SERIES of 2022. Awards need to be given for the authors and voice actor performances.

This book put me in a one week slump and I took it personally
(I read too much at once and got burned out…so maybe I’m the problem)

So a lot happened in this book and yet it felt way too easily wrapped up by the end. We have characters who are kind of out of character, and one who is still being hot and steamy with someone who is literally threatening to end a life they care for but that's fine, banging is more important right?

The big ending was anti-climactic and way too easily dealt with. Who knew the apocalypse was so easily avoidable (Norse mythology needs to take note).

I didn't give it a lower rating only because I was able to get through it easily, and I still had a fun time. I'd say it's my least favourite of the series though which is a surprise to me, since I really was expecting it to be the best of the four.

Now it's time to rank the guys and honestly it's pretty tough since I only really care about one of them at this point.

1. Kingston. He's been in my number one spot for 3 books now. He's the most paternal and loving toward Sunday and he never turned his back on her. 10/10 would do anything for this man.

2. Noah. He's not incredibly interesting but at least he's likable. Kind of boring but since the other competition has more issues he just took second spot.

3.Caleb. He used to be my second pick but I had to bring him down one in this book. Once he wasn't holding back anymore he just kind of felt the same as everyone else, albeit more kinky. I kind of miss the tortured soul from the other books (really shows my priorities).

4. Alek. He has always been last and will never move. I don't know why but he was the most bland. He was super kind and a golden retriever like which is great as a partner but I could not care less about Alek. Noah is bland too but at least I find some things attractive about him, Alek though? Not a single thing. Sorry buddy.

**This review is going to be for all four books because I don't have the brain compactly to do it four times over. But HOLY FUCKING SHIT, THIS IS THE BEST SERIES IVE EVER READ. yes, I said it. Yes, I meant it. Much like the title name of the first book, I'm fucking obsessed.

Sunday, Kingston, Noah, Alek and Caleb are the perfect Harem ever. Made of shifters, vampires and a viking, they are all so epically made for one another. They have such a beautiful soul deep soul mate connection and I literally could not read fast enough. I was immersed in this world and it refused to let me go -- everything was perfect. The individual relationships, the bromances, the friendships (let me just say, I hope to see much more of Moria. She's the best witch bitch you could ask for.) The fucking STEAM -- seriously, don't bother with panties. They'll just disintegrate. The feels. The fucking plot that was unlike anything I've ever fucking read. It was all bloody fucking amazing!!!!!

I won't spoil the plot -- and honestly, i don't have the mental powers right now to fully explain just how epic it all was -- but OMG. so twisted. So amazing. I could not breathe outside of this series -- seriously, I read all four books in two days. No breaks, baby. All pleasure filled with the best pain.

Need more incentive? We have pierced 🍆. Kinky vampires. Blood mating. Blood sharing. A priest with infinite amount of self loathing with a daddy kink. A viking with an impressive hammer. Every sex position/fantasy you could have, this series does it. Fuck me, I want to go back and read it all again.

And our heroine?!?! Omg, Sunday is PERFECT. She's not this doormat who let's the men do all the work *winks* but she fights for what she wants and all she has. She's beautiful, strong, kind, fierce, independent, loves so wholly and deeply, and is the glue to this amazing family she's founded for herself. I honestly can't give this series enough praise.

This is a PNR RH lovers wet dream -- pun fully intended. This is the best series ever, and these authors have a crazy fan girl for life now. I can't say it enough, but go read this series NOW!!!

Rating 5/5 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
Spice Level 5/5 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️

This is one of the best series I have ever read, hands down! It fucking broke me. I was fucking broken because of fucking daddy Father Gallagher. I am not gonna spoil anything, but this series made me so invested. I never usually finish a series, but the production of the audiobook was truly IMMACULATE. BLESS this audiobook, for I have spawned many sinful thoughts.

Even if you aren't an audiobook listener! Man, this will change you in so many ways. I was never a person, EVER, EVER a person who would read a book with a priest in it because of personal reasons, but holy fuck. This book has changed me. I will crawl for this man, and I will *So many nasty things and thoughts* Let's end there.

So aside from me praising the spice in this book. I did enjoy the story, and it didn't bore me. At one point, I almost cried because of said event. I would say this would be a series I would definitely read again, and I am quite excited to read the next set of books, which is R's story! I am glad I found it even if there were tropes I wasn't it for, I actually stayed.

I will say this again. Even if you aren't an AUDIO BOOK LISTENER. Give the AUDIO BOOKS A CHANCE. You will not regret it! I freaking swear!

(audiobook) What a conclusion! The big and the little story come to a perfect end: the world doesn’t end–barely a spoiler–and Sunday gets her happily ever after… not without hiccups though.

Though the big story, the war between Good and Evil basically, was of course going to end on a happy note, there were enough twists and tragedies that I wasn’t sure about Sunday’s love story. The main characters get seriously roughed up, physically and emotionally, before they get to the end of the story. All of them. There was definitely more angst in this book, compared to the previous ones.

Which brought other sides of them to light. Caleb was always the broody one, so it doesn’t change, but his softer side appears from time to time. Noah was also always devoted to his family and heritage, but it’s causing him some grief. Kingston maybe has it the worst, and his funny and sassy side gets more balanced with sadness and despair. Alek, whose berserker has been appearing consistently since the previous book, shows more of his divine nature by taking charge of the group when needed. That gives them more dimensions and make the characters even more compelling. Well done.

The sexy is back, and keeps giving. Also, almost a bit of “swords crossing”at times and it made me a happy girl. At least, it shows they’re finally all comfortable in their unconventional relationship. Especially in the epilogue. I loved it!

While the theme has always been in the background, relationships with parents are at the heart of this final installment. The loss of them, parents’ figures, good or bad relationship, the power shifts between parents and their adult children, conflicts and reconciliations… There’s a lot of that, including the very antagonistic relationship between Sunday and her mother, and of course the fact that Sunday is going to be a mother by the end of the book. It wasn’t overdone, but it was clearly at the center of the story.

I was a bit disappointed with the final battle, as it seemed anticlimactic after the many fights there’s been in the previous books. It’s emotionally charged, sure, but the action keeps to the minimum, while I was expecting fireworks.

The narration was perfection. The narrators had a new challenge with their characters, as they were showing other sides of them, and they nailed it. There’s a new addition to the cast, for a new character that is supposed to come back in other books, and since it was my favorite narrator, I couldn’t be happier. He does it well, as usual.

This series definitely changed my opinion on both reverse harems and paranormal romances, and I can’t wait to read–or listen to–more collaborations between the authors.

Quickie

- Series: The mate games #4 (directly follows the previous book and ends the series)
- Hashtags: #paranormal romance #college romance #reverse harem #werewolf #vampire #deity #new adult #kinks #blood play #daddy kink #voyeurism #exhibitionism #masochism #age gap #foursome
- Triggers: various kinks (see above), violence, torture, death
- Main “couple”: Sunday Fallon & (Noah Blackthorne/Kingston Farrell/Alek Nordson/Caleb Gallagher)
- Hotness: 5/5++
- Romance: 5/5
- + a little twist at the end, and the series comes to a good conclusion
- – though the final fight feels a little bit anticlimactic

Well, this was a total mess. If you’re going to keep FMC pregnant for the whole series, at least show us everyone interacting with the baby in a domestic setting. It felt like such a missed opportunity.

Caleb was a lost cause for me. I hated how responsive FMC was to him after everything he’d done. All the semi-sexual moments between them on that island made my skin crawl. The way Caleb acted—taunting her for liking him despite everything—was revolting. He should’ve been grateful she could even tolerate him. If this was supposed to be his redemption arc, it completely failed for me. I almost DNF’d the book at that point.

So much unnecessary drama happened that added nothing to the plot. Why did Kingston’s father, his sister, and Noah’s sister all have to die? It felt excessive and pointless.

That said, I did enjoy the bond between Kingston and Noah. Kingston did a full 180 since the first book and became the comic relief, which I appreciated.

The twist with the mother orchestrating everything was just sad. She revealed that all four mates were carefully selected and put under love spells. So, it was never “fate.” After that, everything felt off. Even though they renewed their bonds, it still felt hollow and artificial.

And knowing who the mother was in the end, FMC’s dreams from earlier in the series made no sense. Why was the mother encouraging Sunday to choose only one mate back then?

I’m really disappointed with this series. It started out fun and entertaining, but it ended heavy and left a bad aftertaste, making me question everything that happened.

P.S. Why did Caleb (the worst MMC) get so much page time while Alek got practically none?

Authors have created a 𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐳𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐨𝐭 chemistry between Sunny, Noah, King, Caleb and Alek. And don't you dare to forget Moira! The world building is intriguing, as well as romance part is well balanced with the plot (so many hot scenes, you will be truly blushing). Due to some c-hangers, twists, betrayals and 1 troupe, I did want to throw my phone away into the abyss and yell-WTH man! But that's just a part of the experience.

Jason Clarke, J.F. Harding, Stella Hunter, James Joseph and Aaron Shedlock 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Their vulnerability, strengths, emotional changes, humor, lust and wickedness - each of them brought their own unique gifts for portraying them. As I understand, this was about War. Authors have planned Pestilence (book 1 is already out), Famine and Death. Correct me if I'm wrong.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭:
* Wild RHPNR romance book
* Fated/Forbidden Mates
* Found family
* Mystery/Suspense
* Dirty talk
* Adults with great chemistry, yet somewhat childish banter
* Various kinks (I'm sweating)
* Mating rituals
* Tension/Angst
* Elite narrator's team
* Check TW's!!

*The best series of the year!* Wow, what can I say?! K. Loraine and Meg Anne really brought it home for the final book in The Mate Game Series. I really didn’t want it to end! In this series, every book got better and better. Temptation was the one that truly tugged at my heart strings. I love how I didn’t know what was coming, I knew something big was. The anticipation was priceless. I’m just that vested in Sunday and all of her loyal, protective, fearless, loving, and sexy mates! I was truly overcome with such deep emotions!
While we do have Sunday and her other mates involved this book, it goes more in depth with Caleb and the role he plays in Sunday’s life and why he is the way he is. My heart truly aches for him. There were some pretty serious scenes with all of the characters. So much pain, deception, and sadness..but also hope, love, and redemption. So many surprises I never saw coming! can I also say I was so into Kingston and Noah’s Tag Team attitudes and ever growing witty banter and bromance. Thank goodness for Kingston and all of his humor even if the most inappropriate times to lighten the mood.
This narration team is one for the record books. I mean wow!
Stella Hunter, well of course she rocked the shit out of performing Sundays character! Becoming a much stronger woman having to deal with terrible tragedies, but also Stella was phenomenal in Sunday’s most darkest of despair. Jason Clarke as “Daddy” Caleb was by far the best performance in this book. I was not prepared for the journey Jason took me on in Caleb‘s backstory. The torture tone of our Vampire Priest was still there, but oh my! The playful side, the hopeful side.. I was just blown away! J.F. Harding and James Joseph really stepped up their Bromance too.. I mean the ménage scene was so darn filthy, dirty HOT! These two are hilarious bringing the characters to life and working together for the same goal. Aaron Shedlock was commanding as ever as Alec. Aaron truly empowers the “god of mischief”.
Theres just so much going on in this book, but I don’t want to spoil a single thing. It is easy to follow, heavily detailed..just the best series of the year hands-down!

3.25 Stars – So Much Potential, But It Fell Short

The Mate Games by K. Loraine had all the ingredients to be an absolutely epic fantasy romance—fated mates, dark intrigue, supernatural drama—but instead, it left me feeling like I was served a half-baked feast.

For a fantasy fiction with dark romance, I expected so much more.

Let’s talk about Sunday, our FMC, and her four mates. Caleb, the priest-turned-vampire, spent what felt like an eternity wrestling with his faith before finally deciding, “Hey, maybe I don’t want to be a priest anymore.” It was exhausting.

Then there was Thorne, the vampire kissed by the sun—easily my favorite. He was the only character who remained consistent, and honestly, thank goodness for that because the rest of the plot was all over the place.

Nordson, the Viking demi-god, should have had an incredible arc, but his memory wipe (thanks to his godmother) and return were so rushed that I barely had time to feel anything before we were onto the next drama. And Kinston? Poor guy. He had the hardest time winning over Sunday, and instead of feeling like an intense slow burn, it was just... ridiculous. His entire journey felt unnecessarily dragged out.

Despite all this, the book was entertaining—just not in the way I wanted it to be. It could have been a top-tier, unforgettable read, but instead, it ended up as a fun, slightly chaotic ride that didn’t quite stick the landing.

Overall, I’d rate the series a 3.25. Not bad, but definitely not the dark fantasy romance masterpiece it could have been.

The story itself is excellent, but I highly recommend that this book is experienced through the audiobook format. The full-cast production adds an element to the story, making it more vibrant. The cast really brought this last installment of The Mate Games to life.

Book four had so much going for it - the steam was off-the-charts hot (scalding hot in some places) and very abundant. Lots and lots of s3x happens in this one. The pregnancy plays a huge factor in the plot, and the looming threat of the apocalypse remains ever-present. For much of the story, Sunday is apart from most of her mates, which allows her to develop a stronger relationship with Father Gallagher. The angst was heartbreaking, at one point having me sobbing.

The HEA was so well deserved. I needed that after the emotional rollercoaster the authors put me through. I foresee a huge book hangover now that I have completed the series.

The second bonus epilogue has me yearning for more from these authors, which is one balm to the loss of the characters I have followed these past weeks.

Buddy read with Tayla.
Wow. wow. WOW! I....I......I....ummmm....

Ok, I'll be honest with you all. I had no idea what this series was about, but I saw the narrator casting and I was instantly sold. Stella Hunter, Jason Clarke, JF Harding, Aaron Shedlock, and James Joseph, with special appearances from Shane East (books 1 & 2), Jacob Morgan (books 3 & 4) and Teddy Hamilton (book 4) - come on, how could I not?!? These narrators were cast perfectly for each of their characters and they👏flippin'👏deliverd!!👏

K. Loraine and Meg Anne know how to write a page turner, that's for sure. Angst. Spice. Emotional rollercoaster. Laugh out loud banter and one liners (I swear I highlighted nearly every single line of Kingston's and Moira's) 😂

This SERIES, not just the book, had it all. Loved, loved, LOVED!

I can't wait to start the next series!
