Forfeit Heart, though a little rough around the edges, is a quick read. Though not one of his better written stories, it definitely stands in the category of a Brett Williams original.

A story about an assassin of sorts, who falls for a mark, it tells the tale of a woman who must face her demons—in every sense of the word—in order to reclaim the man she so desperately wants in her life. But will her efforts be worth it in the end? (HA! No spoilers from me!)

Because of the short length of the story, Forfeit Heart is a decent read despite the grammar and wording problems. The story grabbed me from the start and carried me through to the end. If the story was written more like Brett Williams writes now, I’d definitely give it higher marks.

If you are a story snob, and only interested in “a finely crafted tool of the trade” no matter how boring it may be, move along. BUT… if you can overlook a few wayward writing errors in order to enjoy a good story, I definitely recommend this one.

A different slant on love and romance. A good book for the strong independent woman.
