I’ve been waiting for Matty’s story forever and it was worth the wait. So emotional, so heartbreaking, so beautiful... in true Stiles form, it will break you and put you back together, you will shed tears, you will feel hope and love and smile from ear to ear when you have finished the journey. Just wow!

Would you save someone that does everything to destroy himself?
For Brittany Esposito, best friend of Matty Silva, a famous rock star, the only answer to that question is yes.
Chasing Riptides tells the story of these two friends, one who tries to save the other, while the other one tries to sever every bond that unites them.
"Matty is an angry ocean. You can admire its beauty and power, even while you're drowning in it."
I loved Britt, she is a great character. I could feel her love for Matty into her words and actions. I adored the strenghth, the fierceness and the stubborness with which she defends whoever she loves and who she'll never leave alone. Matty broke my heart over and over again. I was so sad to see how he sabotages his friendship, his brotherly relationship and his career, because he thinks he is a fraud that doesn't deserve to be loved. I was so glad to see he had more than one person in his corner ready to help him.
Aly Stiles has got us used to her emotional stories, but everytime I read her works I'm surprised by how she depicts the deepest sadness and every facet of a broken soul in the most real and relatable way. I adore how her writing style and her words sink into your soul without giving you any chance to run from the ferocity of the feelings she tells.
Excellent read, definitely not easy but excellent.

Aly Stiles knows how to write emotions, and Matty's story is a testament to her skills. It is intensely heartbreaking as he is set on a path of self destruction with no idea of his own worth. Britt is his feisty best friend, she has known and loved him during his worst times and always has his back, sometimes to her own detriment. Britt and Lex are trying desperately to show Matty who he is, but his own views are warped by the people he surrounds himself with. Its absolutely devastating to see the impact this has, and yet so relatable in this day and age where everyone online has an opinion and feels no compunction sharing that.
There were so many times I just wanted to wrap him up in a massive hug, Matty has my heart, but I also loved Britt and her ability to just keep shining even at the darkest moments, giving herself so openly and freely. This was a beautiful story, it can absolutely stand alone but reading Falling North does give you more of Matty and Lex's history and is another wonderful read.

This book is Excellent in every way.
Excellent writing,
excellent Characters and an Excellent storyline.
Matty's story is EVERYTHING I hoped it would be and I LOVED it so much.
Although it did put my heart through an emotionl gauntlet.
A Friends to lovers Romance that is so beautiful,inspiring,emotional and heartwrenching.
The relationship between Matty and Britt is really something quite special.
She is Matty's lighthouse,he can always count on her to shine her light whenever he loses his way.Which he does alot,his childhood was tough and now a grown man the shadows of his past still haunts who he is today.
Britt is like a refreshing breeze on a warm summer day,she illuminates the darkness that surrounds Matty's soul.
They are Perfect together.
I adore Aly Stiles and the passion she puts into her stories and her characters,they are always authentic and hold a message that we all need to take a lesson from. They may be angsty and leave your heart heavy sometimes but they are also full of Hope and influence,and you come away with a happy full heart.
Chasing Riptides is another exceptional book within this series from Aly Stiles which I enjoyed with every ounce of my being,and I Loved it.

I'm starting this review by going straight to the ending, because I'm not sure that I've ever read such a perfect ending to a story. I've said it before, but I'll continue to say it every time that I read a book by this author-- Aly Stiles is one of the best romance authors around today, and this book proves it once again.
Matty Silva is rock royalty, but he's never felt worthy of the title. He's been used and abused his entire life and he's accepted his place in the world. The only person besides his brother that has ever seen the real Matty is his best friend Britt, but he's even pushed her away. Now, she's back in his life and she wants nothing more than to save the friend who she's loved for most of her life, but how do you help someone who doesn't want to be saved?
Matty is a beautifully broken soul and my heart shattered for him. This wasn't an ugly cry for me (although I did tear up once or twice), but Matty's story just left this heaviness in my chest. I felt angry and sad for him and I just wanted to reach into these pages, wrap him up in a big hug and keep him safe from the world and from himself. Much like Britt wants to do. I loved Britt and her determination to never give up on her friend regardless of their outcome. Everyone needs a friend like her in their corner.

4.5 Star Review of Chasing Riptides (Save Me #6) by Aly Stiles
Another good addition to the Chasing Riptides Save Me series by Aly Stiles.I was hooked on Matty Silva and Brittany (Britt) Esposito’s story from the first chapter.
Chasing Riptides was an emotional, heart breaking story that had me in tears at times. Aly Stiles ripped me apart but then thankfully put me back together again. There were so many layers to this book that brought out a multitude of emotions whilst I was reading.
Matty has lived and played hard and now his life is about to explode and come crashing down. The chemistry between them sizzled but it was the emotional connection and journey that they embarked on that really called to me. Britt is the light to Matty’s darkness and there connection was intense.

Wow !!!!!
I’m not sure I have the words to do Chasing Riptides justice so I’m just going to start with what an amazing author Aly Stiles is, she has proved time and time again that she is amongst the best romance authors out there and Matty Silva and Britt’s journey is certainly one of her best works.
Matty is a broken man who childhood was not the best but throughout the bad times there was one person he could rely on and that’s Britt because she was always his safe haven. Time has moved on and once again he needs to find his safe and happy place but now Britt needs to convince him that he is worthy of love……
This is a beautifully written childhood friends to lovers stories but it’s so much more than just a romance because this book has it all, it’s emotional yet entertaining, it’s at times heartbreaking but also heartwarming, it’s about broken souls finding strength but more importantly it’s about love. This is a very special read that will stay with you long after the final word has been read so I guess all that’s left to say is “Great Job Ms Stiles”.

My heart is so full now that I got Matty's story!
Aly writes words that make me feel all the emotions... I can't get over how much I loved this book! I read it in one sitting, I couldn't put it down and I didn't want to!
Matty and Britt have such a great relationship with a strong foundation. But when feelings get involved it can get tricky... I love their friendship and the way they have this unspoken connection.
Matty broke my heart over and over again, and I knew he would. His struggles are not easy and his story will make your heart hurt... You can't help but to love Matty!
Britt is the light to all the shadows and I love her down to earth and realness. She has such a big heart with so much love in it!
This book will consume you and have you wishing for more...

I've been excited for Matty's story. I loved he and his Brother Alex/Xander in Falling North. Matty is such a broken and lost soul whose childhood was so awful. Luckily he had a best friend in Britt and the two of them grew up together. She was his "safe" place and years later, she would be just what his restless and weary self needed. He just needed to learn that he was worthy.

Well, she dang did done it again. You know how there are some people that just have such a strong, impactful voice through their words? That’s Aly Stiles, 100000%.
Matty’s story in Chasing Riptides is one more amazing notch on the belt that is “books that will stick with you for an awfully long time” written by this incredible author. Aly just has this knack for evoking so much emotion. Were parts of the story deep, dark, and heartbreaking? Yes. Although Matty’s story is a work of fiction, sadly, it is likely close to someone’s reality. Stories that need to be heard. Need to be told. Hope that needs to be spread like honey on a warm roll; absorbed into the very fibers of one’s being. And you will be left with those feelings of hope after reading this book.
Another thing that Aly does exceptionally well is write strong relationships and connections amongst her characters. This story was full of them, but most notable were the relationships between Matty & Alex, and Matty & Britt. *sigh* So good.

Wow! What an epic read this was, an unforgettable tale of one man who seems to have it all but is still determined to destroy himself. Set in the rockstar world there's plenty of ways for this man to destroy himself and with each fake smile he flashes, each betrayal he experiences, my heart broke more and more for him. With each turn of the page I was taken on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, from wonderful highs to depressive lows, all leading up to an immensely satisfying conclusion and another winner from Ms. Stiles!
Brittany Esposito and Matty Silva have been in each other's lives since they were young and she befriended him as the new boy in school. Theirs was a powerful connection from the very beginning, a connection that has stood the test of time as their pairing has bent but never broken as they've gotten older. As kids, where every school day involved bullying and home life was full of rejection and coldness, Matty had Britt and it's always been her brightness to the darkness creeping into his life. Britt's an amazing heroine, one who's strong and supportive, quick to defend Matty through words and deeds that had me cheering her on every step of the way. She's always been his guiding star, telling him hard truths, while always supporting him and trying to show him his true worth. First and foremost Britt is Matty's friend, but with each year that passes the feelings she has for him have grown into a more adult love. For her, it's becoming harder and harder to ignore how she feels about him, how much closer she wants to be to him. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger and from some very dark places Matty made his way out. Being a fan of this series i couldn't wait for more! As soon as this sixth installment was announced i got so excited for it! With every post about it on social media i wanted to dive into it even more. I picked it up and got right back into The Save Me world! I really enjoyed this story so very much!
When i found out that Matty was getting his very own book i was so happy!
Britt and Matty's journey pulled my heart and i in and didn't let go! Britt and Matty have been in each other's lives since they were kids. Now Matty is in Falling Back North and he does whatever he can to keep his mind off things. Britt's be in love with him for some time and her heart is breaking seeing everything he hides. Can they find a way of the darkness together?
I adored the fact that Britt and Matty had been in each other's lives for so long and the friendship they shared. I loved the realness that poured from both Matty and Britt. I found them to be so very relatable and many moments with these two got me right in the chest. I felt for these two and was so glad that i got to dig deeper with them. I went through such a range of emotions from beginning to end with Matty and Britt!
It isn't easy for Matty and Britt and everything that poured from these two had me falling for them and their story even more. I loved how caring and determined Britt was when it came to Matty. Matty struggling with how the outside world perceived him and what his mind convinced him of truly struck a cord with me. I didn't know how they'd tackle things in their lives and their feelings which had me turning the pages even quicker. The chemistry between them was so wonderful.
It was so awesome being back in The Save Me world and getting to reunite with characters!
With Chasing Riptides, Ms.Stiles has created such a fantastic read with heart, emotions, and depth that's sure to leave it's mark! Her writing hits the souls in ways i'll never forget. If you haven't read this series yet, you so need to! I can't wait to read what this author comes out with next! 💗

Aly Stiles story Chasing Riptides will put your emotions in a stranglehold.
Matty Silva was so lost, to himself, others, the universe. His glimmers of hope and purpose were breathtaking but his continuous struggle to not spiral downward was agony. His push and pull with torment and hope and inability to see clearly in his judgments continuously circled this story. Matty's goodness and odd purity were an interesting contrast to his outward persona of reckless indifference and made for a character that readers will find hard to walk away from.
Britt Esposito deserves a singular WOW. There was no truer friend than Britt, wrapped up in brusque, brutal truths and nurturing belief and support. The magnitude of her love and devotion was staggering but more so her awareness and ability to call Matty on his behavior setting firm lines was as painful as it was touching.
Matty and Britt saw each other in a way that kept them as real. Their bond was both a curse and blessing as their true selves were transparent to each other but by the same token their fears and weaknesses were impossible to hide. As this couple came to terms with their evolving feelings their friendship was put to the test and their trust in each other was pushed to its limits. Revelations, faith and hope battled long held beliefs and despair making the dynamics in this relationship intense. The power of this pair's love was done extremely well by this author while still showing the significant holds their personal issues had on their fates.
Aly Stiles' levels of empathy and old soul insight are at times inspiring and other times disconcerting. She sees, hears and feels in her writing with a rare sensitivity displayed in beautiful words. She is an author the world would be a better place for reading one of her works and experiencing and conquering the pain she eloquently navigates. Chasing Riptides firmly establishes Aly Stiles as a go to author who continues to bring compelling stories to her audience.

Chasing Riptides should not be pigeoned hold into any romantic genre, this story is more than a romance, this is an epic slow burn gut-wrenching emotional ugly crying journey, one not to be missed but one that you are guaranteed to come away a little bruised.
This is a story of two people, whose lives have been intricately intertwined since childhood, he being Matty who now has, or so it seems to the outside world, everything at his fingertips, a handsome rock star that the world loves, but on the inside, this man is slowly dying from a devasting childhood he had no control over and the hangers-on that only want a piece of him for what he can do for them, but like a Riptide, these things are consuming him and like the sea, it is getting deeper and deeper and more dangerous as each day passes, as Matty continues to put on a smile and fake to the world, Britt his best friend who has loved Matty for years will fight with her last breath for this beautiful man for him to see what she has known for years that she and his brother need him as much as he needs them and when they finally read her journey the healing can truly begin and the love and peace he has always wanted to can finally be his.

Chasing Riptides (Save Me #6) by Aly Stiles is a contemporary friends-to-lovers rock star romance told in first person, dual point of view. Although it's the sixth book of the Save Me series, it can be read as a standalone. The story follows the relationship between Matty Silva, frontman for a famous rock band, and Britt Esposito, his childhood best friend.
I loved Britt and Matty's story! As characters, they were both likable, well-developed, and relatable. Matty had a lot of demons from his rough past. My heart broke for him as he blamed himself for events outside of his control and continued in an abusive cycle that only hurt himself and those who loved him.
Britt loved Matty all her life. I really felt for her as she struggled to save him from himself. I loved seeing Britt’s effect on Matty's life—his transformation—when he finally opened up and really let her in. I also loved the dynamic between Matty and his brother, Lex.
Chasing Riptides had so much emotion and was full of the delicious pining that I love so much about friends-to-lovers stories. It’s a story about how love can not only save someone, but how it can also help them save themself. Overall, it’s a story about love, hope, and healing. Highly recommended!

Matty breaks my heart and Britt makes me laugh! This book was angst heaven and I despaired that it would ever turn out right, Matty seemed like a hopeless case of brokenness.
A very creative guy, his feelings always betray him, and especially because he feels unloved and unwanted except for his brother. His abusive childhood and his mother’s wickedness have really engraved into his soul and have made him feel worthless except as a pretty boy, only good for looking sexy in front of the band and for pleasuring lots of random ladies.
The only exception to the rule is Britt who calls him weirdo and smacks him every time he says the wrong thing. She’s his rock and the only woman who is true to him. She’s loved him since they were kids but she doesn’t dare act on it for fear of ruining their bond.
This angsty book is chock full of strong emotions, lots of tears, despair and hopelessness. I truly had little hope of Matty turning the wave into mental health, and it really took a village. In spite of the sadness, the book didn’t feel heavy or dragging. The love story proceeds very slowly and very cautiously. I love these stories that are based on a person’s personal struggles and how they are overcome and surpassed, instead of tons of sexy times. Very heartfelt and heartbreaking and sweet!

Matty's journey is full of angst and emotion filled with self loathing and self doubt. He is spiraling out of control. Being the front man for Falling Back North requires a lot. But there is so much more to him then looking pretty and running across the stage. He wants to contribute but feels unworthy.

I like a lot of romance tropes, but always with an HEA. Funny, small town, second chance, rock star, friend/enemies-to-lovers etc., and I'll even dip into some fantasy for the fun of it. The ones that really stick with me have an extra ounce of realism where the author has taken their time to really research the "why" of each character's story. When Aly Stiles tells a story like this, she describes in such detail the why, that you feel like these are real people, and if these aren't real people, that the author surely had someone in mind when writing such impactful thoughts and interactions. Matty's story as a famous rock star surrounded by people who adore him, isn't one that I can relate to personally. ; ) However, the idea of shifting who you are in order to please others, searching for affection/acceptance, and fearing the loss of love from those you hold most dear, all while blocking out the reality of how you are used in order to continue the facade, hit a little closer to home for me.
I loved another of Aly's books, Camden Walker: Apartment 8C, and the similarities of depth of character development in each is notable. What strikes me even more is that this author can turn around and write smart, laugh-out-loud stories like Street Smart & Play Smart! Aly Stiles should be a household name, as her talent is boundless.

Emotional read - 4.5 stars.
If you've read the other books in this series, and especially Book #2 - then you know the Silva brothers home life was beyond reprehensible. This is the younger Silva, Matty's story.
Britt has been best friends with Matty since childhood and she's crushed on him just as long and been in love with him for most of that time - even before she knew the true meaning of true love. But Matty is determined to go down destructive pathways and Britt has to decide if she can still stand to watch his spiral.
This book deals with real demons and you have to hope that Matty will finally realize all the love in his life and the talent he rarely shows.
This was at times a hard book to read, but overall - it is a story of redemption for both MC's and the love of family and the everlasting brotherly bond that survived childhood.

Chasing Riptides is an emotional ride that I did not want to get off of. This is Matty and Britt's book. Best friends since childhood Matty and Britt have this beautiful connection. Britt has loved Matty for years and is not ready to give up on him no matter what he does. I love how she loves him through all his highs and lows, those dark days of a rocker and shows him he matters. Matty has played the part of the pretty face rocker for years. You feel the frustration he goes through as everything spirals and he wants more. You feel for Matty as everyone tries and use him and doesn't see him for who he is. You feel the love Britt has as she tries to show what she feels for Matty is different from everyone else around him. I love the courage and strength throughout this one. I love the light in the darkness as Matty and his brother come together and heal. This is such an emotional read that will have you glued to the pages. I loved this one so much

Everyone wants a piece of him except to learn his true story/emotions/fears. Sadly Matty is spiraling out of control and looking for someone to hold on to.

This book is heartbreaking, beautiful, emotional yet filled with hope and redemption.
Aly’s writing is so incredibly beautiful - she brings us amazing characters, filled with flaws but tells theirs stories in such a reverent way…she has lessons for all of us in her stories. In this story - things my not always appear as they are, we need to give each other grace, love and kindness.
Marty and Britt have been friends, confidants for a long time.
Marty’s story really broke my heart…I wanted to give home a hug. His family history is so awful, his confidence is at an all time low and he needs help.
Britt is an amazing person who is always there to listen, encourage and help Matty. Their love story is hard fought, beautiful and unforgettable.

Flipping heck! That’s putting it mildly. What an emotional, entertaining and wonderful friends to lovers rockstar romance. The Save Me series is fast becoming one of my favourites, emotionally detached and unattainable leading men and leading ladies that have the patience of a Saint, trying to put them on the straight and narrow. Matty Silva is dealing with so many issues. Issues from his past, and issues from the here and now, issues with family and issues with deranged fans. What he doesn’t have issues with, is his forever best friend, Britt Esposito, the one person who loves him for who he is inside, she’s totally devoted, she’s not after anything, just his love. Can they overcome the mountain of problems that Matty is dealing with? I cried my little heart out, I still loved it though.

truly tortured soul
Not for the first time, I’m glad I’m not famous. Also not for the first time, the prose of Aly Stiles brought tears to my eyes. Poor Matty was so broken and my heart hurt for him. It’s been a good long while since I read his brother’s story in Falling North, but I could remember their love for each other and was glad to see Lex having an active role in this book. Britt’s unwavering love was definitely what Matty needed and I’m glad the important people in his life were able to get through to him. Aly knows how to write disheartened characters and she continues to be one of my go-to authors for rock star romances!
Not for the first time, I’m glad I’m not famous. Also not for the first time, the prose of Aly Stiles brought tears to my eyes. Poor Matty was so broken and my heart hurt for him. It’s been a good long while since I read his brother’s story in Falling North, but I could remember their love for each other and was glad to see Lex having an active role in this book. Britt’s unwavering love was definitely what Matty needed and I’m glad the important people in his life were able to get through to him. Aly knows how to write disheartened characters and she continues to be one of my go-to authors for rock star romances!

Oh Matty- my heart broke with this story. A man who appears to have it all struggles so much!! But there has always been 2 people to stand by him- Xander and Brittany. His brother has always been his protector while Brittany was his safe place growing up. When things get ugly once again, these 2 are there for him again. He understands why his brother is always on his side but why Britt? It takes some time and a lot for her to get him to understand the depth of her love for him but when he opens up to her, what a beautiful love they share!
There is so much emotion with this one. Be prepared to shed some tears. But each one is worth it. I promise!
