I needed more.

This book was made up of 3 short stories.

I enjoyed Sam and Pete’s story more than Gil. However, all three were too short. I guess I’m not a novella kinda person.

My House, My Rules - My House, My Rules is the first novella in Lori Foster’s series about the Watsons, three close-knit brothers from Indiana. This one tells the story of the oldest brother, Sam, an undercover cop who’s has it bad for a young woman twelve years his junior and whom he thinks is – or at least was – involved with his youngest brother. Between him being bothered by the age difference and not wanting to hurt his brother in case he still has feelings for her, Sam has been fighting his own attraction. Ariel is a woman who knows what she wants – and that’s Sam. She’s never been genuinely attracted to anyone else the way she is to him. Just to be sure, she went to a local bar to check out the guys, where unbeknownst to her, Sam happens to be working undercover. After nearly blowing his cover and getting bumped and bruised in the process, she gives him a ride home, where she basically propositions him.

Ariel is a virgin who saved herself for Sam, hoping that one day he would eventually take notice of her as something more than his little brother’s annoying best friend, but she’s also an outgoing sex kitten, which is always somewhat dicey for me. I guess I was mostly OK with it here, even though I’m not sure if most virgins would be up for Sam’s sexy hijinks right out of the gate. I suppose she’d been waiting for him so long, she was willing to do anything to get him in hopes of keeping him. Sam is a pretty intense alpha male, a little too much so for me at times. I understood that he was more or less trying to scare Ariel off with his red-hot sex play, so at first, he’s very much being the dominant. I’m sure many romance readers will eat that up, but for me he initially came off as a little too harsh. Later, he softened up some, and it was in those moments that I began to like him.

With the story being so short there isn’t much in the way of deep character or relationship development, but with Sam and Ariel already having known and been attracted to one another for a while, the connection was pretty good for a novella. The love scenes are scorching and borderline erotic with a little domination and light bondage. Add in a touch of suspense as Sam goes undercover a second time, a bit of family drama with Sam’s brothers, Gil (Bringing up Baby) and Pete (Good with His Hands), and a little humor, and voilà, you have this story. It might not have been absolutely perfect for me, but it was a pretty fun way to spend a couple hours of my reading time, and I look forward to seeing what’s in store for Gil and Pete as I continue with the series. My House, My Rules was originally published in the multi-author anthology, Bad Boys on Board, and was late reprinted in this single author anthology along with it’s two companion novellas. Star Rating: 4

Bringing up Baby - Bringing up Baby is the second novella in Lori Foster’s series about the three Watson brothers. This one is middle brother Gil’s story. In the previous novella he’d just gotten the shock of his life when he found out that he was the father of a two-year-old little girl he hadn’t known existed. The girl’s mother, a woman with whom he’d shared a business relationship and one weekend of steamy passion, has passed away in a car accident. But as it turns out, she hadn’t been much of a mother anyway. It’s her roommate, Anabel, who has been raising Nicole and whom she calls mommy. Gil has known Anabel for three years, from the times he visited Nicole’s biological mother on business. Although Gil was sexually attracted to Anabel, he always thought of her as little more than a tattooed, pierced free-spirit and not really mother material. But when Anabel shows up on his doorstep with his toddler daughter in tow, proposing a marriage of convenience to prevent Nicole’s grandparents from taking her away, Gil is forced to take a closer look at her and figure out if they could be something more.

Gil is a great guy. From the moment he finds out he has a child, he’s more than ready to take responsibility and become a father to her in every way. Even though he knows nothing about kids, he proves to be a natural and is wonderful with Nicole. I liked that he recognized Anabel’s place in Nicole’s life and that no matter what happened between the two of them, he couldn’t separate mom and daughter even though they aren’t biologically related. Also, once he realizes Anabel is the woman for him, he tries to prove it to her by taking care of her, too. The only thing about Gil that left me wanting is that it’s implied that he’s a wild lover with perhaps unusual tastes in the bedroom, but although the love scenes are hot, nothing particularly out of the ordinary occurs. If anything, I thought the first novella of the series was slightly spicier.

Anabel is a real stand-up heroine to have raised her friend’s child as her own. I admired that she wanted to tell Gil from the start that he was Nicole’s father, but it was the child’s biological mother who kept her from doing so. It’s obvious that she loves the little girl very much and is a mother to her in every way that counts. She’s been attracted to Gil for a very long time and was more than ready to give him anything he wanted in the bedroom. I especially liked that she felt that she could trust him to do the right thing. She may not have stood out to me in quite the same way that other romance heroines have, but I liked Anabel and there was nothing she did that bothered me in any way.

Because this is a short novella, there isn’t a lot of time to develop the romantic relationship. It helped some that both Gil and Anabel had known and been attracted to each other for a while, but it seemed that despite the attraction, they weren’t really what I would even call friends. If anything Gil had reservations about Anabel’s suitability as a mother. Granted he gets over it as he watches her with Nicole and realizes that he’s been unfair in his judgment, but because of his initial questioning of her, things seemed to move very quickly in the romance department. They hop into bed on night one for a “trial run,” and although the sex is great and I could feel a connection there, the leap to him being ready to marry was just a little too fast to suit me. Otherwise, though, I enjoyed Bringing up Baby and thought it was a cute story. Nicole is absolutely adorable and behaved exactly like a two-year-old should so that was a plus. I look forward to completing the series and seeing what’s in store for youngest brother, Pete. Bringing up Baby was originally published in the multi-author anthology, Bad Boys to Go, and was later reprinted in this single author anthology along with it’s two companion novellas. Star Rating: 4

Good with His Hands - Good with His Hands is the third and final novella in Lori Foster’s Watson Brothers series. In this one, we have youngest brother Pete paired with his good friend, co-worker, and next-door neighbor, Cassidy. Unbeknownst to one another, they’ve each been having lustful thoughts about the other for a while, but their mistaken impressions are getting in the way of them becoming more than friends. Pete is frustrated that Cassidy never gives him even a hint that she might be romantically interested in him and thinks that she only wants to be friends. Cassidy knows that Pete’s usual types are glamorous girls, while she’s anything but. Not to mention, she’s always thought she’d marry a guy in a suit who knows exactly where he’s going in life, while Pete plays things a little more loose and easy. Once they set their respective doubts aside, they discover a burning passion for one another no one else can satisfy.

Good with His Hands is a super-cute friends to lovers story that I thoroughly enjoyed. Cassidy is a no-nonsense girl after my own heart. I love that she’s no-frills and doesn’t spend hours primping. Between her and her sister, everyone thinks she’s the sensible one, which I could relate to as well. Pete is a real charmer and a total hottie, who has grown up a lot from his role in each of his brothers’ novellas. He realizes pretty quickly that Cassidy is the woman for him even though she’s not his usual type. The story moves very quickly with them going from friends, to lovers, to engaged in the matter of one weekend, which usually doesn’t work well for me, but this time, I fell for it hook, line, and sinker. I think it was partly the fact that they’d had a very close, best friends type of relationship for quite a while before the story even begins, plus they work together every day and live in adjoining condos. This made the rapid progression more believable since they already know each other very well. Also, I could really feel an emotional and passionate connection between Pete and Cassidy. Lori Foster is masterful with writing hot, sensual love scenes, too, that helped to show just how compatible they are. This may have been a short novella, but for me, it packed a lot of feeling into a small package, making it my favorite of the series and ending it on a high note. Good with His Hands was originally published in the anthology, Bad Boys in Black Tie, and was later reprinted in this single author anthology along with it’s two companion novellas. My House, My Rules- This story features the oldest Watson brother, Sam Watson. Since his father's passing Sam has been the head of the household, taking care of his brothers and their mother. Sam is thirty-five and found himself attracted to his younger brother's friend Ariel. He feared she was too young and concerned about his brother's feelings he ignored those sparks. When he is undercover at a local bar setting himself up as bait for a mugger, things get complicated when Ariel comes to his rescue. My House, My Rules, was a fun tale filled with complications, naughty moments and meddling family.

Bringing Up Baby- Gil is the second Watson brother and runs the family business. He is a by the book, neat freak whose world gets turns upside down when he discovers he is a father after the mother passes away. He is all ready to step up despite the complications Anabel Truman presents. Anabel had raised his daughter, and she presents him with a fascinating offer. I was nervous about this tale, but Foster gave a believable tale that made me laugh and swoon.

Good With His Hands- This last story takes place years later and features the youngest Watson brother's tale. Pete's world turns upside down when he realizes he has feelings for the girl next door. Good with Her Hands, This was a fun tale, although to be honest my least favorite. Pete was young and awkward. I kept wanting to smack him on the back of the head whenever he tried to articulate his feelings and put his foot in his mouth.

The Watson Brothers is narrated by Jim Frangione . While not a  memorable performance, he did a good job reading the tales and I quickly consumed the audio. It was fun trying some of Foster's earlier stories. These were originally written in 2008.

The Watson Brothers is a collection of three novellas about these brothers. Each brother must come to terms with his true love. It is a delightful, very sexy read, or listen to.

My House, My Rules - 4 Stars
Sam is the oldest Watson brother. He is a undercover cop and while staking out a bar trying to entrap a mugger, he encounters Ariel, his youngest brother's ex-girlfriend. He has had an interest in her since Pete started bringing her around, but, she was hands off due to Pete and her age. Ariel had had the hots for Sam since she first saw him and no one has even come close for her. She is on a mission to make him feel to same way for her.

Bringing Up Baby- 4 Stars
Gil has been running the family business since his father died. He finds his orderly world turned upside down when he finds out he is the father of a two-year old. The mother had died and her best friend, Anabel, who has raised the child from birth needs his help. She loves her and wants Gil to marry her so they can live happily ever after as a beautiful family. Not a problem, right?

Good With His Hands- 4 Stars
Pete was a college student in the first two stories and now he is all grown up. Cassidy is the typical girl next door and Pete is completely clueless when it comes to taking their friendship to the next level.

My House, My Rules (Book 1)

Tough, rugged cop Sam Watson has a reputation for being a hero on the job and delivering mind-blowing pleasure in the bedroom. But the only woman who drives him over the edge is the one who's completely wrong for him--the sweetly sexy and extremely determined Ariel. When Ariel's headstrong ways nearly wreck one of Sam's sting operations--ruining her alluring dress in the process--Sam offers her a ride to his place to clean up. But once there, Ariel seems to have her own agenda, and Sam decides it's time to show the lady that if she wants to play games of seduction, he'll be calling the shots, turning her every fantasy into a night of unimagined bliss...

Good story, hot scenes. Sam is an undercover cop and the oldest of the Watson brothers. He's working undercover one night when he sees Ariel come into the bar and get hit on by several men. He wants to do something about it, but can't because of his mission. Sam wants her, but considers her off limits for several reasons. First, she's dated his youngest brother, who he thinks is in love with her. Second, she's twelve years younger than he is. And third, she's far too sweet and innocent for someone like him.

Ariel has been hot for Sam for months. She was at the bar trying to see if there is anyone else who could appeal to her and finding that the answer is no. When she spots Sam leaving the bar, apparently drunk, she follows him and witnesses him being attacked. Going on instinct, she leaps to his defense, getting hurt herself. Sam takes her to his place to help her clean up.

I loved seeing Ariel try to put the moves on Sam. She's a total innocent, but she knows what she wants. Sam decides to go along, but push the envelope, trying to scare her away from getting involved with him. I loved seeing her go along with his "rules", knowing what he was trying to do and refusing to let him succeed. It was fun to see him lose control of his plan and realize just how much trouble he was in. His brothers' appearances the next morning were pretty funny. Pete is pulling the protective friend routine, trying to get a rise out of Sam, and Gil appears with news of his own. In the confusion, Sam manages to put his foot in his mouth about Ariel, and she walks out.

I loved seeing Sam realize what he has lost, what he wants, and try to figure out how to get Ariel to talk to him. History repeats itself as Sam is working another sting and who should appear but Ariel? This one goes a bit differently, and Sam ends up injured. I loved the hospital scene with Sam's brothers, mother and Ariel all there, and Sam's desperate attempts to get Ariel alone. I loved his frustration at their interference, as it seemed only fair that he suffer a little too. Once he did get her to himself, it was pretty sweet to see them together.

Bringing Up Baby (Book 2)

Gil Watson has always been the responsible one, running the family business and keeping his brothers out of trouble. Of course there was that one wild night on a business trip two years ago...the one that resulted in a daughter he never knew he had. Now that the girl's mother is gone, Gil wants to do the right thing by his little girl, even if it means a marriage of convenience with the woman who's been raising her. Anabel Truman is sarcastic, free-spirited, and totally wrong for him. But the sensations she rouses in him feel totally right...stirrings that have nothing to do with being good and everything with being very, very naughty...and once Gil gets unbuttoned, there's no going back...

I really liked this one. At the end of the last story, Gil had just found out that he was the father of a two year old little girl. The child's mother wasn't really involved and Nikki was being raised by her best friend Anabel. When she shows up at Gil's office one day, Nikki in hand, she offers herself as wife and more to stay in Nikki's life. But there's more to it than that.

I loved Gil. He's stunned at being a father, but he steps right up to it. I loved watching him fall in love with Nikki and become a daddy, not just a father. He's a bit more ambivalent about Anabel. He's been attracted to her since he met her, but being Shelly's friend put her off limits. She is also far different than the type of woman he sees himself getting involved with. She's free-spirited, plain spoken, and very independent. He can't deny her appeal.

Anabel was great. She's been mother to Nikki from the very beginning. I loved how she rearranged her life to do what was best for her. The love that she felt for Nikki just glowed, and she was willing to do whatever was needed to stay with her. She was also worried about Nikki's grandparents, who wanted to take Nikki away from her. It took a fair amount of courage to proposition Gil.

I loved the relationship that developed between them. They meshed well as parents, making a great team. On top of that, the attraction that had simmered between them before has come to a full boil. Gil hasn't said anything more about Anabel's suggestion of marriage, but he is definitely enjoying the benefits. Though she's nothing like what he had seen as his future bride, Gil finds himself quite happy with the way things are working out. He does put his foot in his mouth at one point, when talking to his brothers, but he becomes intent on showing Anabel that he wants her for more than convenience.

Anabel is being very careful not to rock the boat. She doesn't want to take a chance on Gil sending her away, so she tones down everything about her. She's loved Gil for a long time and would love to have that love returned, but she knows she's not his ideal. She's really enjoying what they have together, but she wants more.

When Nikki's grandparents show up, Gil deals with them by himself. Cutting Anabel out feeds her fears that she'll lose both Gil and Nikki. I loved seeing Gil handle them. They were terrible people and I completely understood why Anabel was so determined to keep Nikki away from them. After that, I got a little frustrated with Gil's game playing as he tried to figure out if Anabel loved him without coming out and confessing himself. I loved seeing them finally confess all.

There was also a really cute scene when Sam and Pete showed up at Gil's. Between them hassling Gil about Anabel and Nikki wrapping them around her fingers, I laughed through that whole part.

Good With His Hands (Book 3)

As next-door neighbors and best friends, Pete Watson and Cassidy McClannahan have a "no sex" relationship. "No sex" equals continuing friendship. "Ohmygodyes" sex equals big problems and probably some serious dish throwing. It may be a rigid rule, but it works. Until Pete decides he wants to push the line. If sensible Cassidy won't take his hints, he's ready to transform himself into the perfect "black tie" guy he thinks she wants. And once she's in his arms, he'll show her just what else that black tie can do...

Good friends to lovers story. Pete is the youngest Watson brother, who has been the pain-in-the-butt little brother in the previous two stories. Now it is his turn to suffer through the pains of falling in love. He and Cassidy have known each other for awhile, and work at the same gym. They also live next door to each other in the same condo building. Because of their work relationship, they have stuck to being "just friends".

Pete has been pretty much a ladies man, dating often but not getting serious about anyone. One day he suddenly realizes that his buddy Cassidy is actually a beautiful woman as well as his friend, and wonders what would happen if he pushed for more. He's always leaned toward the polished kind of woman, so his attraction to her comes as kind of a shock.

Cassidy has been friends with Pete because that seems to be all he wants. She's always been the tomboy sort, not interested on clothes and makeup and that stuff, which makes her totally opposite what he goes for. But she has been seriously lusting after him for months. She has big plans for her future, but a little fun now would be a good thing. When Pete suddenly starts putting the moves on her she takes full advantage, even though he's nothing like the man she sees in her future. She's always seen herself with a man who wears a suit and has a regular job, not a fellow gym rat.

I enjoyed the development of their relationship. Because they've been friends, they already know each other quite well. What is new to them is the intensity of feeling that develops along with their physical relationship. As they grow closer and want more from the relationship, each decides to try to become more what they think the other wants. It all comes to a head the night of a charity function. I loved how it was the big jock who showed them that it was more important to be yourself. That scene was really great, and showed how important it was not to judge by what's on the surface.

I loved the part where Sam and Gil showed up at Cassidy's looking for Pete. It gave them the chance to give a little payback for the torture he inflicted on them.

My House, My Rules – 3/5 – Ariel has been in love with Sam, a grouchy and gruff (but heroic) cop who is 12 years older than her for some time now. He treats her like a dumb blonde and a kid sister, but it’s really just his coping mechanism for his attraction to her. When she finally confronts him with her own desires, he accepts but forces her to accept it his way. He’s really kind of an ass and I felt really bad for her that her first time was about to be with someone she loved but who was acting detached and controlling. I didn’t care for him very much and it wasn’t obvious that he loved her. I questioned it for sure.

Bringing Up Baby – 3/5 – After his father died, Gil had a one night stand with a woman living in Atlanta. 2 ½ years later, he finds out that he’s a father and the mother has died. For 2 ½ years, Anabel has been raising his daughter Nicole because the real mother didn’t want to be a Mom, but forbade Anabel to tell Gil. So now that she’s free to, Anabel takes his daughter to him. But she loves Nicole like a real mother and cannot stand the thought that she might lose her, so she makes an offer of marriage to Gil. Gil is skeptical about Anabel, but soon realizes how valuable she is to his new life. I’m not completely sold on Anabel loving Gil for all this time, because I have to wonder how well she knows him. I felt that several things were left out – for example, what are Gil’s actual sexual apetites that were alluded to? and what is Anabel’s background that led her to where she was? (because it was implied that they were important as well, but never explained). Otherwise a pretty good story.

Good With His Hands - 5/5 - I love a friends to lovers story. Pete and Cassidy are co-workers, neighbors and friends and have been platonic for almost a year. Pete is a bit of a slouch, not really sure what he wants to do but with plenty of time to get there. Cassidy is a woman with a plan for everything, including the man of her dreams - and although Pete doesn't fit the mold, she's willing to make an exception. When we start the story, Pete is really just figuring out the fact that he wants Cassidy, while she has been sure of it for a while. And seeing these two come together is exceptionally hot. This is one of my favorites from Lori Foster.

Compilation of the 3 Watson bothers' stories:
My House, My Rules~ Sam, the older brother- hot alpha cop, and Ariel, a younger girl who was friends with his youngest brother. I liked how she was the one pursuing him as he fought his attraction to her. It was fun watching him all flustured. Usually I'm not a fan of such big age differences between the characters, the older man/younger woman is so overdone, but Lori Foster will always get a pass in my world.
Bringing Up Baby~ Gil, the middle brother- in control businessman. Out of the blue he finds out he is a father to a 2yo. Anabel, the only "mother" Nicole has ever known, wants Gil, wants the 3 of them to be a family. It doesn't take much to get Gil on board.
Good With His Hand~ Pete, the baby of the family. This stoy takes place 5 years after Gil's an Sam's. Pete's been a bit of a player but his eyes are finally opened to his friend, neighbor, and co-worker, Cassidy. They both think they want something the other isn't, but finally decide to explore the possibililty of each other.
I love how Lori such strong characters, both male and female. Even though these are short stories the characters and storylines hold your interest.

My House, My Rules
Oh, Sam Watson, you sarcastic, stubborn, swoon-worthy man!

The oldest of the Watson brothers was a hoot to watch as he tried to fend off Arial. It seems Sam misunderstood the situation between Arial and his little brother, Pete.

Arial was determined and tenacious. She knew what, or rather who, she wanted and she went after him - no holds barred.

There was a little issue over lack of experience *waggles eyebrows* on Arial's part but it didn't take away from the story. And I loved getting to meet the other Watson brothers and their fierce mama. I only wish the story had been longer.

Bringing Up Baby
Okay, Gil Watson actually overtook his brother, Sam, for the #1 spot in my heart. I guess I'm a sucker for the more serious, reserved man - at least outwardly reserved.

Gile recently found out he was the father of a 2 year old little girl. Nicole's mama died and her roommate, whom Gil has always been attracted to, shows up with his baby.

Anabel may be a little unconventional - and proves that with her offer to Gil - but she loves Nicole like she was her own. She knows what she wants where Nicole and Gil are concerned and she's determined to get it.

I enjoyed this one even more for Gil's reserved intensity, Anabel's brashness, and Nicole's adorableness - especially when she's wrapping her daddy around her little finger.

Good With His Hands
I was fully prepared not to enjoy Pete's story as much since he's the youngest Watson brother - playful, a player. But Pete's story is set ~5 years after Gil's, so he's grown up a bit. And I found him rather adorable as he falls in love.

Cassidy McClannahan essentially is Pete's best friend. They work together, live next door to one another, and do most everything together. But as they've gotten closer, Cassidy's realized that her feelings are more than friendly.

I really enjoyed getting to know Cassidy. She's a girl after my own heart - a tomboy who's very uncomfortable dressing up - she prefers jeans, sneakers, and no makeup. She's also very goal-oriented and determined enough to go after what she wants.

Pete, as I said, is playful and fun-loving. He worries he doesn't fit the idea of the perfect man that Cassidy has. It sure was fun seeing him try to win her over by being himself.

Overall, I saw a similarity between all the Watson brothers - they all fell for strong, determined women. And I enjoyed their interactions as well as their antics when it came to their brothers' love lives. I wish we'd seen more of Belinda, their mom. And I'm hopeful there are more books with these characters as I'd like to spend more time with them all.

My House, My Rules: Very Funny! Sam tries his best to forget about his little brother's girlfriend. The twelve year age gap is his main defense, along with the fact that she is his little brother's. Just forget about the fact that they have broken up. Everyone sees what Sam does not and it takes a fake mugging to get him to even talk to her again.

Bringing Up Baby: After his father's death, Gil tries to carry on as before, but gets a little more than he bargains for in his attempts to forget on a business trip. Three years later, Anabel calls and tells him that Shelly has died and that he has a little girl. Anabel brings Nicole to meet Gil and has a very interesting story and proposition to make him.

Good With His Hands: Classic boy/girl next door! Cassidy calls her friend Pete and tells him that a condo opened up in her neighborhood, right next door. Cassidy is all work and has a five, ten and probably twenty year plan and she always meet her goals. She even has picked out the type of guy she needs to marry. Pete always goes for the same type of girl but for some reason he starts noticing Cassidy does not notice him and wants to fix that (even though Cass is no where near his type). Things get alittle interesting when they both try to change themselves.

It was okay, not one of my favorites from Lori Foster. This anthology consisted of three stories of three brothers. The first story was about the oldest brother, Sam Watson. He's an undercover officer and is being chased by a younger woman named Ariel. The second story is about Gil Watson, the middle brother. He's a financial advisor who has just found out that he has a child. The last story is about Pete Watson who is the youngest brother and he is having issues with liking his best friend Cassidy.

I didn't really like the first story at all. By the time I got to the end of that story all I could think was, what was the point of this? It actually made me put down the book and not want to continue. But I'm glad I did because the middle story with Gil turned out to be my favorite out of all three. It was just a sweet story and although it progressed rather quickly, I still enjoyed it. The last story was okay. I feel neutral towards it, it was neither really bad nor really good.

* My House, My Rules - was ok. I'm not a fan of couples with more than a 10 year age gap and there was a big maturity level gap between Ariel & Sam.
* Bringing Up Baby - didn't like at all. Anabel kept the secret of Gil's child from him for years then shows up and tries to outright manipulate him in order for him to gain custody of his child. Gil could have gained full parental rights without dealing with Anabel or the grandparents. I really didn't like the pairing of Gil and Anabel AT ALL.
* Good with his Hands - was probably the best of the three stories for me. I liked Pete & Cassidy together and felt they were well matched.

Brothers Who Love And Care Fiercely

I love anything by Lori Foster and she has yet to disappoint me. I was hanging on to this book for a long time, because I wanted to enjoy my read. So glad, I started it in a summer month, because it is HOT!

These books were first published in 2003 and 2004 as novellas with other authors, and then they had their own book The Watson Brothers with each brother's story in one compendium. I am providing the review for each individual story, which was a good size and fulfilled all my requirements for a good tale.

**********************************************

1. My House, My Rules - Rating 5/5

Eldest Brother and Police Officer, Sam Watson has always been the responsible and dependable one for the Watson clan. However, his caring and protective nature also spills into his work and towards his small town community. There is one thing that he wants and that is his youngest brother's friend, Ariel Mathers. But she is an innocent and quite out of his league due to her age. A little chauvinistic but maybe there is someone who will open his heart to the possibilities.

Beautician Ariel Mathers is trying hard to figure out her feelings and options. She has come to a stunning conclusion that Sam Watson is it for her. Regardless of his bluster and bluntness, he is a good man and who would never hurt her. Still, there is a part of her that is afraid of the rejection and disregard, especially when he constantly reminds her of her youth and size. However she is going to woman up and be honest about her feelings. consequences are welcomed!

There were some hot, passionate, and sexy scenes that were thoroughly enjoyable. The character development was limited but the reader had a sense of what it was all about. If you love the older-younger trope, with interfering family, some action and laugh out loud moments, then this is a fun read!

2. Bringing Up Baby - Rating 5/5

Middle Brother and Family Business Owner, Gil Watson is the staid and sophisticated one in the family who handles his responsibilities without complaints. An unexpected situation but a surprise, has left him torn, in guilt and excited as well. However, he is unsure of what will happen next and/or if he can even handle this new complication. But what happens in reality is about to change his existence and his life for the better, if he opens his heart and mind.

Web Designer and Free Spirit Anabel Truman, is an unexpected breath of fresh air and has an even bigger heart. Most of her life people have underestimated her due to her appearance and persona, but it has never mattered to her. Nevertheless, with her added duties, circumstances are different for her now. She will do anything to ensure the safety and well-being of her charge, even if it means making a deal with the devil. Yet there is a chance, that things might work out for the best, and all her dreams could come true, if she let's them!

The story of Gil and Anabel was heartfelt and had a lot of nuances and difficulties. If you are fan of the unknown baby trope with some added dimensions, lots of cuteness, funny occurrences, and hot, heavy and unique passionate love making, you will enjoy this book!

3. Good With His Hands - Rating 5/5

Happy Go Lucky Pete Watson, had goals when he was younger. But after a certain loss, things fell out of order and he is still trying to find himself. Although, when it comes to the ladies, Pete knows his type and never lacks for their company. However, lately he is finding himself unsatisfied and mostly bored. It is so unlike what he experiences in the presence of his best friend, where he is comfortable, they can talk about anything and he has fun. Now if only he was attracted to her, things would be different.

Goal Oriented Cassidy "Cass" McClannahan knows what she wants and she has plans for everything in her life. She has always been the au naturel female and doesn't enjoy the glamour and make-up. But lately, she is thinking that a change might be in order. Especially considering how she has started reacting to a certain next door neighbour and her best friend. Maybe if she made an effort, he might be attracted to her. However, little does she know that people accept and adore her for who she really is...

This was a great story about how notions and pre-suppositions are not what we need or even want in reality. That sometimes, letting thing fall into place naturally, is a much better option. I still loved my read, but there were some minor obstacles for me regarding Cassidy's description of her tomboy traits and personality. But the authoress, salvaged the story with what happened next. Again, hot and heavy scenes, laughter, interfering family members and a theme of growth as well as acceptance had me hooked!

**********************************************

Overall, with the three novellas that are sort of linked and cover the escapades of three brothers in love, I enjoyed my reading ride immensely!

Watson Brothers – handsome, regular kitchen meetings, different personalities and different jobs -

My House, My Rules
Sam – oldest, responsible, undercover cop, greatest potential for danger and aggression… Ariel Mathers – friend of Pete (Sam’s youngest brother), 12 years younger than Sam, pretty, through school, starting her career. When Pete brings her around, Sam is fascinated by her and she is fascinated by him… but Sam stays away because she is Pete’s girl (though Ariel continued to tell Pete she just wanted to be friends) and because she is too young. Pete is finally dating someone, and Ariel is hitting different hot spots to see if any other man (besides Sam) will do for her… and one night she ends up at the bar where Sam is working undercover, drunk, waving money around, and leaves hoping to draw a mugger… he does, and Ariel jumps on the mugger’s back (and he flips her so she lands on Sam’s face)… They end up at Sam’s place, scrapes tended, and she reexplains that she was never Pete’s girl, he has found someone else, she hasn’t found anyone else that has captured her libido or heart, and she wants to have sex with him… he plays the dominant, my house, my rules game… she’s a virgin, and he brings her to orgasm without having intercourse – trying to scare her off… it doesn’t work, she’s there… they make love in the morning… his brothers show up – and Pete insists he do right be her and marry her… she disappears for a week, embarrassed… she runs into him in a bar again… she stays out of it when he gets beat up a bit… she sits at the hospital waiting for him to be treated… she reluctantly goes home with him… he makes sure that she would be willing to handle the difficulties of being a cops wife… then asks her to marry him.

Bringing up Baby
Gil Watson – took over the family business (novelty sales countrywide), he’s serious, dedicated, conservative on the surface but ruthlessly controls his sexual side… except for 3 years ago, after his father died, and he indulged in a weekend intense sex marathon with Sharon, one of the sales rep in Florida (they were business friends before)… but then he backs off… and 3 years later, sharon died in a car accident, and her roommate contacts him to tell him that he is a father… Anabel Truman has been raising his daughter, Nicole Lane Tyree, as her mother (his weekend fling) cannot handle motherhood… and Sharon threatened Anabel with taking Nicole away from her if she said anything to Gil… When Gil had occasion to be with Anabel (via his social times with Sharon), he was attracted to her, but also judgmental about her lifestyle (work at home, tattoo, multiple earrings)… She brings him his daughter early when Sharon’s parents threaten to sue for custody (though they planned to put the child up for adoption, and to prevent Anabel from coming to them for money for the child’s care)… Anabel loves Nicole desperately, and she loves Gil… and having heard from Sharon about his sexual prowess, feels confident in a satisfying sexual relationship… she proposes marriage… Gil is fascinated with his daughter, and the more he hears about what Anabel did for his daughter the more he is fascinated with her… she offers a trial run… and at the end of their first night sharing his house, he acts on his attraction to her… and they have fabulous sex… and he makes his plans… he contacts his accountant, and names Nicole his heir, and puts Anabel on all of his accounts… and waits for her… after 2 weeks, he pushes her with telling her he has purchased a blue van for her… and finally she stops walking on eggshells, and says no… and he explains he doesn’t want to marry her (or vice versa) just for Nicole, but because of each other… ahhhh

Good With His Hands
Pete Watson and Casside McClannahan… both sports therapists, live in condos next to each other, and they are best of friends…. And it’s time for them to be more than friends…

Enjoyable.

These three short novellas were a lot of fun. Loved the banter between the brothers (Sam,Gil,Pete). I think my favorite is the first story. Loved that I felt the connections between all the characters and they all get a very happy ever after. I highly recommend this book.

❤❤❤

These stories are right on par with what I’ve read of Lori Foster’s short stories. If you like her shorts then these won’t disappoint. If you love them then these might not be as great as you hoped. Still they are fun, light reads with just enough steam to make you want to read more. A few reviews mention that this book is merely a compilation of short stories that were featured in other "Bad Boy" anthologies so if Sam, Gil and Pete Waston sound familiar then you might have read them before.

My House, My Rules

Undercover cop, Sam Watson is at this bar tonight pretending to be drunk so he can catch the culprit behind a rash of late night muggings. But he can’t seem to concentrate when he’s youngest brother’s sexy ex-girlfriend is sitting a few seats away. Ariel Mathers has lusted after Sam Watson ever since they met through her friend, and his brother Pete. She knows Sam thinks she’s too young for him but 12 yrs is nothing. And she knows Sam thinks Pete was in love with her but that’s never how their relationship was, at least on her side. It’s always been Sam. So she’s at the bar tonight to see if she can find someone, anyone else who makes her feel that things Sam does. It just figures that Sam is here too, and he’s drunk and leaving and a shady looking guy is following so Ariel does that only thing she can and jumps into the fray.

Bringing Up Baby

Three years after 2 days and nights of endless sex, Gil Watson made is clear to Shelly that he wasn’t looking for anything long term. His father had just died and though he regretted it later, he used Shelly to help ease the pain. So when he receives a call from Shelly’s gorgeous but eccentric friend, Anabel, he’s stunned to learn that Shelly has died and he has a two and a half year old daughter girl. Anabel has raised Gil’s daughter Nicole since the day she was born. She begged Shelly to tell Gil about the baby but Shelly had issues and with constant pressure from her own parents to give Nicole up, she never tried being a mother. Anabel is all Nicole has and Nicki is all Anabel has but Anabel knows she can‘t do it alone anymore. When Shelly’s parents threaten to take the baby Anabel runs to Gil, knowing he doesn’t approve of her, and makes him a proposition so she can remain in Nicole’s life.

Good With His Hands

Cassidy McClannahan and Pete Watson worked together, see one another everyday, even live next door to one another, it's like they are married, with no sex. Pete knows he can have her if he wants her, but he doesn’t, not really. Plus, she not his type. He likes the polished, elegant business suit type. Cassidy has a 5, 10 and 20 year plan and she’s all about comfortable, plus he’s not her type anyone. She wants a husband in a suit and babies and Pete, well he doesn’t do suits, Gil does, and he likes kids well enough but he’s more of a take life as it comes to him kind of guy. So it’s probably best that they just remain friends except something is different today and Pete can’t help but notice that Cass is really beautiful and sexy…and what the heck is wrong with him? So when he invites Cass over for a movie and she doesn’t show he goes to investigate and hears Cassidy in the throws of passion with another man. How dare she! It’s then he decides he needs to claim Cassidy as his own and he’ll do anything to make that a reality.

"My House, My Rules"
*** 3 Stars

Kicking off this book about the sexy Watson brothers is the oldest, Sam. He's had a crush on Ariel for a long time but has always told himself he's too old for her. His youngest brother Pete thought he was in love with her a few years back. So Ariel has always been off limits. Now in the middle of an investigation, because hot sexy Sam is a cop, she has decided she wants him and is going after him. Other than some pretty sucky timing on her part, I just wanted to slap her around most of the time. Ariel is young, and immature, and innocent. And I don't really think she knows what she wants. She decides she wants to give her virginity to Sam but then is about to walk out the door when he asks her to strip? Good thing Sam was hot enough to make up for my lack of like of the heroine.

"Bringing Up Baby"
*** 3.5 Stars

Such a crazy situation to be in. Gil Watson is the middle brother, the centered and stable brother. The one running the family business. The one who has his career in the right direction, has the nice big house, and everything where he wants. Except for when he finds out that he has a daughter. He has one night of passion with a work-related acquaintance in another state and apparently she got pregnant and didn't say anything. Now that she's dead he is faced with having to raise his daughter. But she comes with an extra person. Anabel was actually the one who raised the girl until now since the mom didn't really want to deal with her. And she's grown attached to the baby and will do ANYTHING to not be separated from her. Anabel is not the usual type of woman Gil has envisioned himself with. But he's wanted her ever since he met her years ago. These two actually had really good chemistry and they worked well as a couple for me. Even though her proposition was CRAZY they made it work!

"Good With His Hands"
*** 4 Stars

This was the story I originally read that introduced me to the Watson brothers. It was cute, funny, sexy and hot. There's the girl next door, Cassidy, who's a bit of a tomboy, doesn't worry too much about how she dresses or what her hair looks like. She works with, and now lives next door to, hunky and to-die-for hot Pete Watson. They've been best friends for over a year, they have a great routine together, almost as if they're married, but it's not sexual between them. Until Pete decides that he wants it to be sexual. And of course, Cassidy had been drooling over him the whole time and torturing herself by being so close and not having him so she's all for the idea of them together. Pete was just too cute. The guy just had no clue sometimes about things and it was adorable to see him wonder how his charms might not be working on Cassidy. She's the girl with the plan of where her life is going and what kind of guy she wants to marry. And that guy is so not him. But maybe he can make the effort and be what he feels her ideal is. Or make her realize that she wants him instead as he is. Because he realizes he's been falling for her this whole time.

Not a detailed review, just thoughts I had while reading this:

My House My Rules
- Maybe it's because I'm reading this 2008 book in the year 2020, but I got a little irritated by the sexism and gender stereotypes in this story. Sam is very unlikable for me, all that objectifying of the girl, and the handsy ass-grab, and the macho dominance stuff, I cringed reading some of that. And therefore cannot, for the life of me, understand what Ariel sees in Sam to be all headlong "I love you" from the very beginning of the story. The 12-years age gap also has me frowning a bit.

Bringing Up Baby
- This was the story I was most looking forward to, but Gil disappointed me greatly. He has all sorts of unrealistic expectations and stereotypes of women in his mind, and half the time his mind and his actions are contradictory. He supposedly learnt in business dealings that women can be smart, capable and even ruthless, but he cannot connect that a woman with tattoos and belly button ring can also be a fit mother. And oh wait, it's not enough for Annabel to just be a good mother, she also has to be able to clean up nicely enough to be worthy of being his partner in social business events. It's ridiculous how many roles he expects Annabel to fulfil to suit HIS needs.
- Another part of the story that totally irked me was when Gil went to change Nicole's wet gown in the middle of the night by himself because he supposedly wanted to let Annabel get the sleep she sorely needs, but when he came back into the room he became horny after seeing her in bed SLEEPING, and decided to put on a condom and started having sex with her while she was not even conscious! She does wake up halfway through, but my point is A) How is it not ok to wake her up to attend Nicole's situation but it's perfectly ok to wake her up for your own selfish desires? and B) Talk abt presumptuous. The woman isn't even awake, how could you be taking liberties as such? Dude, you need consent. Again, I stress that I'm reading this in 2020 in the post #metoo era, so I have strong feelings against this sorta set-ups, I don't consider them romantic in the least.

Good With His Hands
- The 2 stars that I rate this book is entirely for this story alone. It was the only one out of the 3 that I found enjoyable because the characters were likeable and Pete wasn't written like a chauvinistic Neanderthal the way his brothers were. He was charming, respectful of Cassidy's decisions, and actually listened to what she said she wanted. I liked that Cass on her part also didn't have to have a major transformation in order to win Pete's love. Their friendly relationship from the beginning was a cute read for me.
