Now young children can read Bear Country tales all by themselves! In the Berenstain Bears' exciting Step into Reading debut, Brother and Sister can't wait to go swimming. But first, there are many jobs to do in the Bear Family's summer house. There are rooms to clean, groceries to put away, closets to air out, suitcases to unpack, and on and on. Will the cubs ever get to dip their tootsies in the sea?
Stan and Jan Berenstain (often called The Berenstains) were American writers and illustrators best known for creating the children's book series the Berenstain Bears. Their son Mike Berenstain joined them as a creative team in the late 1980s.
The cubs learn that chores come first before play time. When they go on vacation they all must pitch in to clean their cabin and put things away before the family can go swimming in the ocean.
I didn't find this book to be very entertaining. I think it could be a good book to teach kids about the importance of doing chores or to learn about rhyming words, but I don't think kids would find it very engaging. I feel like nothing really happens in it and the pictures aren't anything special. I do usually really enjoy the Berenstain Bears books though.
This book is so fun. I really love it. I like when they finally get to go swimming and jump in the ocean with Papa Bear. I don't like when they keep asking to go in the water when they first get there and Mama Bear keeps saying to wait. Brother Bear was getting mad. I'm glad they finally got to go swimming.
You can't go wrong with the Berenstain Bears! However, this book best belongs in a kindergarten classroom or below. It's a great rhyming book with excellent illustrations and a good message but, overall, it's just ok. Maybe not a class read but a book that a young reader can try!
This whole series of books is great for children especially when they learn to start reading. This family of bears teaches great morals and ideals for everyone to have and great general life lessons.
