Solana Luz is fed up with the low intelligence and one-track minds of the boys she's been dating. She decides to give them up once and for all, focusing her attention on her science project, which promises to bring her the acclaim she'll need to get into a great university. No sooner does she make this decision than her uncle's new ranch hand begins to pursue her. Even though Solana puts up a good fight, she eventually falls for the good-hearted Ramon. Their relationship is perfect -- so why does Solana feel horrible when she gives herself completely to him?
Why does the "happiest" decision of her life leave Solana feeling so empty?

January 2020 re-read. This series really holds up on the re-read (over 15 years since originally published!).
I liked that a Christian series featured a non-Christian as one of the main characters and she wasn't converted in the first book she starred in. The friendships in this series feel realistic - a group with diverse beliefs and backgrounds who do not see eye to eye on all issues, but stay friends regardless. I respected the authors choice in dealing with the "issue" of premarital sex through a non-Christian character. It gave the book a different depth than the previous two volumes, where Christians struggled with their value and boundaries regarding romantic relationships. A good read, though I'm ready to move from romantic relationship drama to different plots now, please.
Wow! I didn't realize there are so many books in this series! I saw that someone liked the creator of the series on goodreads so I figured I'd try a book out.
I am glad the main character made a decision and the effects of it were clearly shown in the remainder of the book, without sounding preachy.
I read this book when I was around fourteen and had never read a book dealing with sex and the decision to have or have not, especially one that was written with a Christian audience in mind that had the main character have sex.
I am really not sure what I would think about it more than a decade later.

Looks like the average was four stars here ... I read this several years ago, so I don't remember "really liking it" but I'll give it the extra star because I think it dealt with a potentially difficult storyline.
