Ally Blue penned her first tale at age eight, relating the breathless terror of her little sister’s not-quite-fatal encounter with a bee in the backyard. That was the beginning of a lifelong love affair with storytelling. She now writes gay romance of all flavors, and has recently branched into writing her first love: horror. She continues her neverending quest to scare herself. She is not a hippie or a brain surgeon, no matter what her kids’ friends say.

One star only - yes, it was that bad. It was all about sexsexsex and sugary sweet, cavities inducing emotions. Let me explain...

Character A: we have a problem.
Character B: no, we don't because I love you.
Character A: you are right, we don't have any problems, let's f**k.

Yes, that's exactly how the whole book went - three lines of plot, two pages of sex. Voyeurism, sex toys, threesomes, sex in public places, you name it, the book has got it. In abundance. It's all fine when it's a short story but not when it's the base of a whole book and the sole thing the two characters have in common.

And the emotions! For Pete's sake, the slightest nudge had the waterfalls going. Yes, the men in this book cried more than your average smitten teenage heroine. Every "I love you" had them in tears. After a while, it had me in a permanent eye-roll. I know that it's a romance but come on, that was so over the top that it reached ridiculous proportions.

I'm glad that I didn't spend money on the paperback but got it in ebook form only!

This book did take you through Matt and Chris' relationship from the beginning and beyond. I was a little worried at first because they progressed so quickly into loving each other but the evolution of their love had me loving the two of them together. I just wanted to be their friend:) Matt and Chris were very likeable and you got to know the two of them throughout this book. There was no big breakups and make ups, just a few areas of strife but not enough to even acknowledge. The two were in love and there was never a question.

I recommend this when you want to read a sweet story withe two men loving each other without the big issues.

For an author I’ve liked in the past this was a strange read. More a series of vignettes or short stories about the same characters than a straightforward novel, this story hits the highlights of our main characters lives. Still I felt it lacking in character development, especially the development of their feelings for each other.

Chris Tucker is an exemplary chef. He’s spent the last ten years working his way up to head chef and then making his kitchen one of the best in town. He is structured and controlled with all things in his life. Friends with few people in his life he doesn’t have a huge social life. His family despairs of his ever settling into a relationship.

That is until Matt Gallagher barrels into his life. One look is all it takes between these two. Matt’s a tattoo artist and his eccentric wild child attitude just captures Chris’s heart. Matt, with is multiple piercings and crazy hair colors, is just what Chris needs to shake his well-ordered life up. Now if only they can figure out how to live together and be everything they need.

I didn’t hate this book, but I really didn’t appreciate the simplisticness of the story or the writing. I wanted more from this love story. Instead it’s basically a collection of erotica scenes. I swear if I read them saying “I love you” to each other one more time I think I was going to scream. Strange thing to say in a romance novel, but it felt gratuitous each and every time. I never felt the connection between these two was anything other than sexual. I think that’s why the “I love you’s” bothered me so much. They came quickly and often. Every other page felt like they just had to tell each other they loved the other one. With their sexual interest in others I can see why they questioned how each other felt. I mean, “he doth protest to much?”

I vacillate between enjoying insta-love and hating it. Here, it just bugged me. We met our intrepid heroes, their eyes meet, and wham bam thank you ma’am they’re in bed together and forever committed on night one. Now if the story had continued with next day worries or internal turmoil over the next few weeks I think I probably would have been on board. Instead vignette number one is over and we’re jumping weeks later. I felt like I was reading a highlights reel.

Ultiamately I don’t have much to say about this book. I never felt like I connected with the characters because everything was about the sex between them. And I’m not complaining about too much sex in my novel…I’m all for some hot m/m action and this certainly qualified! The formula for every section was the same. Introduce a minor glitch or win into their lives and then head to bed, and head to bed, and head to bed. Insatiable is definitely the word here.

I think if I had to say I probably preferred Chris’s reserved nature and felt like I got know him a little better than I did Matt. I felt like I understood his insecurities in the relationship better as well. Overall though I really didn’t care what decisions these two made. I was happy they were together, but often found myself bored with the story. None of the characters or events really stood out for me. Even Matt’s accident, which should have endeared these two to me, only made me go, “Really?” His injuries felt a little extreme for the way the accident was described.

So overall I guess I would say if you’re looking for a hot little bit of porn style erotica, absolutely worth the read. If you’re looking to really connect with your characters and read a fabulous love affair, maybe pick up something else.

I don’t have a problem with insta-love normally, especially after the two pretty heavy series I just finished back to back I needed something light hearted. This one was a bit, I’m not even sure how to explain. They meet & hook up for drinks on the same day & then fall into bed. Two mths after meeting they tell each other they love each other & three mths later they get a place & move in together (plus we are only on chapter like 5). And they are doing it bareback with no discussion about it or testing done. Really everything was done without any discussions going on. Then you jump 2 yrs into the future. And don’t get me started with the whole Rick issue without any real conversation between the two/three. The book read more like notes/thoughts thrown together with no substance to tie it all together. Then there is sex, tons of sex, sex on just about every page. Now I like lots of sex in my stories but something else needs to be going on.

Re-read 5/15/14 for Re-Romaning the Faves Challenge: I still really enjoyed this book, but I did find the dialogue and how perfect everything was for the MCs to be a bit cheesey this time around, so I'm changing to 4.5 stars.

Originally Read 7/15/11: I absolutely loved this book. It was a little weird that there were different sections and each had some minor conflicts between the main characters instead of one storyline that built to some major conflict, but I liked the style. It was different and kept me wondering what was going to happen next. I absolutely love that Matt could get Chris to do pretty much anything. I thought at the beginning that Chris might be a little uptight, but Matt was definitely good for him. I loved these two together, and I can't wait for the next book!

Okay, so I know I'm biased in my reviews of Ally Blue's books mainly because I have yet to find a book of hers I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. So when I started reading Love's Evolution I went into it knowing I'd likely enjoy it.

Summary: Love is the journey of a lifetime. Chris Tucker is a cultured and sophisticated gentleman. Matt Gallagher is a pierced and tattooed wild child. Not exactly the pair you¿d expect to become a couple. But the sparks fly between them from the moment they meet, and the fire never goes out. Through the first rush of attraction to falling in love, through jealousy and sexual experimentation and a life-threatening injury, the bond they share grows and deepens. Come along with Matt and Chris on their journey, and share their joys and heartaches, from their first hello to happily ever after and everything in between. Warning, this title contains the following: explicit homoerotic sex, graphic language, and M/M/M ménage a trois.

What I liked about this book: This book is truly a journey. Ally Blue grabs you by the balls hips and guides you through a relationship from that initial spark of attraction to that moment of bliss where you know everything and everyone around you could fall away but having your love's desire in your arms is all you need. I smiled and gasped and got teary-eyed through the journey as if I were standing with Chris and Matt through it all.

I loved that you really see their love evolve and through it all, as the reader, you remain in Chris' mind. While I don't mind switching POVs I love the way you see and feel everything as Chris does. I think it makes the reader more than a voyeur, you're now a part of these characters' lives and they're not just flat on a page... they're alive and in charge! :D Choosing one excerpt for this review is the hardest part (pun very much intended) in this book because there are so many scenes I love! My apologies Ally for posting so much in the excerpt but I absolutely loved this scene! I was laughing so hard, I had tears rolling down my face.

Excerpt: Chris glanced toward the back of the restaurant. With the camera moved to catch Troy’s relatively good side, he could see Matt’s colorful form lounging in his chosen booth. Troy and the crew wouldn’t notice him unless they turned around and looked for him on purpose. Chris liked having Matt there, his own private ray of sunshine. He smiled. Matt smiled back and waved at him.

“Mr. Tucker.” Troy sounded more than a little put out. Chris shook himself and turned to the sour-faced man sitting across from him. “If you could tear your attention away from your…your friend over there, we have an interview to do.”

“Of course.” Chris forced a smile. “I’m ready.”

“Okay, people,” Byron called. “Ready to roll. And…go.”

Troy’s face broke into a bright, cheerful smile and his beady little eyes twinkled at the camera. “Hello again, and welcome back to ‘At Your Leisure’. You’ve just witnessed one of the most popular and sought-after activities in Asheville—Chef Chris Tucker’s famous cooking class. Today, we made a dark chocolate and red wine fondue, and let me tell you, it was out of this world.”

Turning toward Chris, he leaned forward in a patently false attempt at casualness. Chris resisted the urge to recoil.

“Chef Tucker,” Troy enthused, “that fondue was fabulous.”

Chris gave him a cool smile. “Thank you very much, Mr. Waters. It’s my own recipe.”

“I hear that you have a most unusual secret ingredient, could you share that with our audience?”

“Certainly. I use just a bit of chili powder.”

Troy pulled a surprised face so fake Chris had to bite his tongue to keep from laughing. The entire crew, of course, already knew what the “secret” ingredient was. He glanced over at the corner booth behind Troy’s head. Matt shoved an invisible knife through his own heart and collapsed dramatically over the table. Chris smiled.

“Chili powder?” Troy was saying. “My goodness, that is different. Why chili powder? What does it add to the taste?”

Chris watched out of the corner of his eye as Matt, recovered from his fatal wound, shrugged out of his leather jacket and started undoing the buttons on his sheer red shirt. “Well,” Chris began, “even though we use dark instead of milk chocolate, it is still chocolate, and we use a sweet red wine in the recipe, so…”

Matt, hidden in his corner and unnoticed by anyone but his lover, chose that moment to wet a finger in his mouth and rub his pierced nipple into a hard little bud. Chris stared, his train of thought momentarily derailed.

“Yes?” Troy prompted. “You were saying?”

“Oh, er…y-yes.” Chris’s gaze remained locked onto Matt, who was tugging at his nipple ring and enjoying it very much, judging by his flushed cheeks and parted lips. “Yes, well, the sauce can become too sweet, you see. That’s why I hit on the idea of chili powder a few years ago. It adds just the right amount of spice.”

Matt leaned back against the dark red leather of the booth, unzipped his pants—the purple leather ones, Chris noted without surprise—and shoved his hand down the front. Chris gulped. He was having a great deal of difficulty keeping his eyes on the man interviewing him when the man he loved more than anything in life was playing with himself in the corner.
“And why is that bit of spice important?”

Chris stared straight at Troy for a moment. “If you have nothing but sweetness, it’s boring, isn’t it? A little spice keeps things exciting.”

Troy made a face that would most likely have to be edited out later, but Chris scarcely noticed. His attention was fixed on Matt’s hand caressing his erect cock. Chris licked his lips.

“Mr. Tucker?”

Chris jumped a little and tried to focus on the interview.

“Hm? Yes?” He smiled brightly and Troy gave a barely perceptible sigh.

“I was asking,” the journalist said, laying the patience on extra-thick, “what drew you to cooking as a profession?”

Matt spread his legs and thrust his hips up, pushing into his own hand. Chris pinched himself under the table to keep from getting completely lost in the sight.

“Well,” he answered, “I, I’ve always enjoyed playing with my…with my food.”

Matt dipped a finger into the pre-come dripping from his cock and slid the sticky digit into his mouth. A jolt of desire shot through Chris.

“That is to say,” he stammered, “I’ve always enjoyed being creative with food, making up recipes and so forth, ever since I was a child. I suppose it’s just something you’re born with, because I don’t remember ever…ever feeling…any other way… Oh dear…”

Matt was on his knees in the booth now, with his pants shoved down around his thighs, pumping his cock hard with one hand and fingering his ass with the other. His eyes were closed, his mouth slack with pleasure. Chris stared and felt his own member spring to life.

I've ready Ally Blue books before, and I remember liking them, even though it's been a long time and don't remember the actual storys.

This one was okay.

First meat up I thought was a little stilted, but they jumped forward in time and fit well enough.
Didn't care for an accident being the cause the realization they want to make things official, but it's a common enough theme.

Not a bad read. But not one of the stronger books.

A little uneven, but mostly enjoyable

Warning: This review might contain what some people consider SPOILERS.

Rating: 8/10

PROS:
- The book shows both ups and downs in the characters’ relationship. Mostly ups, of course, and it doesn’t dwell on the downs--the disagreements and misfortunes are resolved quickly--but the low times help to show the strength of the relationship in a way that seeing only the good times wouldn’t do.
- The sex, once they realize they’re in love with each other, is hot, especially one scene in which they invite a friend into their bed to play with them and another toward the end when they experiment with toys and light BDSM.
- Matt and Chris are affectionate toward each other even outside of the bedroom.
- Matt says and does some funny, cute things, like sneaking in a wildly colored tile when they’re tiling their kitchen floor with earth-toned ones.
- The story’s conclusion (and by that, I mean about the last 50 pages) is dreamy.

CONS:
- Chris and Matt jump right into bed together when they’ve known each other for less than a day and we are only about 10 pages into the book.
- The book spans 3 years, but the stories aren’t very evenly spaced. We see the characters’ first meeting and then their relationship at 2 months, then 2 years, and then it ends at 3 years. This isn’t terrible or anything, but the jump from 2 months to 2 years caught me a little off-guard at first.

Overall comments: Good book with great sex scenes, intimate romance, and a healthy dose of drama. If you’re looking for something with a page-turning plot, this isn’t it; it’s a collection of stories that show the evolution of love between two people from when they first meet until they make a lifelong commitment to each other.

Chris was late for work and he hated being late. He had over slept a hour, which made him late for the dentist. After he left the dentist he had a flat tire, changing it left grease streaks on his clothes. He went back home to change and the traffic sucked.
Finally parking at the restaurant he checks his watch ,ten minutes late. Locking the car door and walking away he hears someone say "hey". He keeps walking trying to ignore it. The person calls out to him again "hey suit guy".
He turns expecting someone asking for money. Instead he sees a sexy man. Standing there practically drooling the stranger tells him he dropped his wallet. Chris thanked him and the man flirted with him. Chris asked him if he wanted to go out after work. The man said yes he would be looking forward to it. Then he asked him his name. Chris told him his name and found out that the stranger was named Matt.
Matt and Chris went out for drinks and spent the night talking. They went to Matt's place after last call. bow chicka bow wow That's how their relationship begins.

The book follows the couple as they build a life together. Buying a house together. Insecurities in the relationship due to the age difference. Sexual experimentation with threesomes, toys, light bdsm. Dealing with a near fatal accident, physical therapy, and the emotional aspects of it.

I liked the story but found the characters kinda flat. There wasn't much back story for any of them. You got little snippets here and there. Close to gagging on all the "love yous". The ending was a let down.

This wasn't really one book, but more like a series of shorts. Each short had its own arc, and together they show the relationship of Chris and Matt, starting with how they first met and ending about three years later. It is, as the title suggestion, the evolution of love. It was very sweet.

Since this isn't one cohesive book, there is no real plot or conflict. It's more like real life; you get little windows into pieces of their life together. Some of the stories have real conflict in them and some don't really. But you come away with the overall feeling of the deep love they share for each other. It's a SUPER romantic, gushy love story and if that's what you're looking for, you'll be very satisfied.

The only real problem is that of course, each short has sex in it. Which if you're reading it the way I assume it was originally intended - in bits and pieces - would be perfect, but reading it all at once it did get a little porny after awhile. There was just so much sex, I started to wonder "aren't these guys tired yet??" And there were a couple scenes that made me wonder how much gay porn Ally had to watch to research this book. (A real trial, I'm sure...) That and the fact that it was so over-the-top saccharine are why the 4 stars instead of 5.

Ally Blue's latest novel follows the relationship of Chris Tucker, executive chef, and Matt Gallagher, tattoo artist. This is the "evolution" of a relationship from first meeting to commitment. Unfortunately, that relationship has every cliché known to man. The men encounter every proverbial roadblock along the way, from simple arguments to jealousy and life-threatening-injury.

However, this is a romance. The sex scenes are plentiful and hot, especially when the guys start experimenting. And kudos to Ms. Blue for having the men practice safe sex until they are committed to one another! Love's Evolution also has a threesome that could singe the page. That said, there is more to the lives of these men than just sex. Many M/M romances center so much on the two main characters it's as if they are living in a bubble. Happily that is not the case here. The development of the secondary characters is very strong, particularly the guys' best friends and neighbors, Rick and Deb. Overall, not as good as "Willow Bend," but still worth reading!

This is a lovely romance by Ms Blue. The story centers on Chris, a chef, and Matt, a master tattoo artist. It starts out as your typical 'opposites attract story, and then turns into an interesting look at how the couple's relationship evolves. The characters are likable and interesting, with different things they each bring to the relationship. Without spoiling the end, I'll just say that the last few chapters seem unnecessary, as they just add a few more sex scenes without really telling you a whole lot more about the characters. Ms Blue might just as well have gone right into the follow-up story, which is called Life, Love and Lemon Cookies. This short novella looks at how the couple deals with the strain on their relationship when Chris loses his long time job, which has come to be how Chris defines himself.

All in all, these are two short enjoyable reads with a happily ever after ending.

This is the story about Matt and Chris, who are one of those opposites-attracts couples that romance books are so full of. It follows them from their first meeting, where they almost instantly fall in lust, and then very quickly in love, through the following 3 years. It's not like a continuous flow, more like we get to peek in at their realtionship from time to time.

I don't know why, but I just didn't feel their love for each other. They kept saying how much they loved each other - over and over and over again - but I still didn't quite buy it. I guess I should point out though that I do not like menages, so when Matt and Chris invited someone else to "play" with them, that just killed whatever faith I had in the sincerity of their love for each other. If that doens't bother you, you might see that in an entirely different light and that might make you like the book better than I did.

Light reading.
From the blurb I was expecting this story to span twenty or thirty years, but it only covers about four. It is more a collection of short stories than a novel, which works to show how the relationship grows and 'evolves' over that time. The highs and lows are gentle and of the 'everyday' variety - no evil villains or high-speed chases here. The age gap between Chris and Matt isn’t apparent until the second half of the book, when Chris starts worrying about grey hairs, by which time the relationship is well established. Pairing a conventional, BMW driving, head chef with a pierced tattoo artist who likes to dye his hair in primary colours doesn’t seem to raise many eyebrows from the supporting cast of friends and colleagues, and clothes don’t figure much in the couple’s alone time!

An enjoyable read.

The story of Chris and Matt is not really a novel, as much as it a series of short stories about the same characters. They meet on the street one morning as Chris is late to work and in his hurry drops his wallet, which is picked up by Matt and returned. They are instantly smitten with each other and agree to go for drinks later that evening. Their evening consists of some drinks, some sex, and an insta-love as they look into each others eyes (and I am really developing a dislike of the plot device of insta-love!). The stories are okay, but you don't really feel the emotional connection between these two. They bicker a little, tell each other “it's okay, because we love each other” and then you are on to the next story. There are some seriously hot sex scenes and a few funny moments, but not a read-it-again kind of book.

This was a average read for me. There was a great deal of sex a little bit of kink towards the end but not a lot of substance. For me I wasn't real thrilled with the format were we basically get little snippets from the Matt and Chris's life together. Each scene is a few chapter like when they met, when they fight about their age difference, when they have a threesome, when they marry, ect. For me formats such as this are jarring and pull me out of the story. I do like the story itself focusing completely on Mat and Chris and the ups and downs of their relationship together. By the end you really feel like they are an established couple that deeply loves each other.

Loved this book yet again! Again, not sure why this book is such a favorite of mine but it is. I love the connection between Matt and Chris from the start and that never fades, they are too very different people (tattoo artist vs. older head chef at fancy restaurant) yet they are always accepting of each other, neither tries to make the other conform to the others way of life. IMO the author does a great job of making you feel the love, connection and intensity between the two characters. Love the passion between these two! Yay, good book!

Lots and lots and lots of smexing in this one. Don't get me wrong, it was lovely, dirty smexing, there was just a lot of it. This is a story that takes place over several years so even though they start hot and heavy right at the beginning, we do get to see them through some ups and downs. Nothing overly angsty or heartbreaking. Well, a little heartbreaking but it all works out so I'm a happy camper. The wording seemed a bit off in parts to me. Kind of awkward with the "my sweet" and "darlings". Still an entertaining book overall.

If you're looking for sex... M/M or even M/M/M then this book is for you. Two guys meet. Instant attraction. Sex. Love. Lots of sex. Marriage. More sex. The End.

I was disappointed. I read Graceland written by this author & FIVE STARS easily. And, it really was not my usual type of read but I refused to put that book down until the very last punctuation. What's so ironic is that Graceland dealt with an evolution of love as well. *shrug* So, I really wasn't expecting to be so let down with Love's Evolution.

Ok m/m romance about two guys who meet and feel a deep connection with each other. The book is a series of short stories about their relationship over the course of several years. I wasn't a fan of the book's structure, and I found one character's constant use of "my darling" and "my love" to be cloying and annoying.

A lovely story with sexy characters following the opposites attract theory. Very entertaining and it left me with a "feel good" feeling afterwards.

There is a free short story available "Hard Candy" that follows after this one, before the next book in the series. I found it on www.thesamhellion.com

Nice series of short stories about the same couple showing snippets of their lives over a few years. Sweet fluff with lots of sex. It's what I call brain candy; a little sugary, over in quick bites, a nice filler but not substantial. A good story to read on a day when one's focus is shot or when feeling lazy etc...

This turned out to be a fun read once I got used to the short stories. Some of them were really sweet, some a little bit cheesy and some kinky. The entire book was too much sex, though. I also expected the stories to span a longer period of their lives, but it was only 3 or 4 years. I did like the chemistry between the characters and their complete acceptance of each other’s differences.

I never really felt like I got to know the characters or why they fell in love--just that they did. I guess this was really more erotica about two guys in a relationship than a romance. For me, it was a real disappointment after The Happy Onion, which I really enjoyed.

Chris and Matt meet.
Fall in love.
And triumph over obstacles, some of their own making.
They demonstrate the epitome of what life is like in modern times.
