Katie Flynn was born in Norwich and attended Norwich High School, where she was extremely happy and extremely undistinguished. Published at the tender age of eight, in Enid Blyton's Sunny Stories, she joined a Writers’ Circle as an adult, publishing short stories, articles, etc; only turning to novels in 1971 because the postal strike cut off her main source of income!
At first she wrote under several different names – Judith Saxton, Judy Turner, Lydia Balmain, Judith Arden – but her Katie Flynn books were a delight to write and proved far more popular than she had dreamed. She has now published nearly ninety novels, twenty-seven of which are Flynns. Her most recent titles are: Lost Days of Summer and Christmas Wishes.

I think I'm an official fan of KF now! I really liked the first book I read from her and I decided to try an other. I got the same thing again:
warmth.
These books are about the importance of family, the importance of loving each other in good times and bad, and it makes the book such a comfortable reading from the beginning to end, that I would recommend it to anyone with any problem at all. Although it spans quite a few years, it is a kind of book that makes me think of a good log in the fire: it's best to endeavour it with a hot cocoa under a fluffy blanket. The story makes me feel so warm and so loved and loving as if it was Christmas time!
One note though: the ending was brief - one minute I read about the twins losing letters, then it is three more pages and wham! Back cover!
What were those letters about, and from whom? What happened to Claudia? Where was the money? Did Donal take on Claudia? What about Cormack? Why was he sent to war if we hear nothing more about him? That's why I give the book only 4 stars...

Entertaining story which didn't just involve the Liverpool area. The min character is an absolute rock throughout the tale - there are a couple of unexpected twist which adds to the value of the tale.

I added this book to kindle on the pretence of reading it during a hospital stay to come in a few weeks. Unfortunately I read a few pages and couldn't put it down. So I'd say it's a really good feel good story. Easy going and enjoyable

absorbing story

Loved getting to know these characters and their lives so entangled together. My only regret is that it finished leaving me wanting more. A follow on book to this book would be one to look out for. Please Katie Flynn….

I enjoyed this book as it followed the everyday life of a young pair of sisters growing up. There were some interesting twists in the plot, which caused me to not give a full five stars, but it was an entertaining read. I will keep an eye out for other Katie Flynn books to read.

This was the first time I read a novel by Katie flynn. And I was surprised that I actually liked the novel. I have read many other historical type novels and this book definitely earned it's place in my favourite books shelf.
The story is simple, amazing , warm, kind and just sweet. It gives us quite a few lessons. And the thing I liked the best about this novel is that not always your love goes wasted and family is really important.
Overall, it was an amazing read. :)

A pleasant character-driven novel set in the 1920s and 1930s. Takes place both in Liverpool in the UK, and an Irish croft. The beautiful and spoilt Claudia is seven as the novel opens, and a teenager when she starts to look for work. Some dramatic moments, some rather unrealistic (but satisfying) sub-plots, and a reassuring conclusion. Enjoyable light fiction.

Although I like to read romances now and then, this was my first book from KF.

I liked it in a way that kept me going through the story, but I think the characters could be more rich and we could see more about the deep personality of each one.

A slower start than normal for this boom. Normally I am hooked from page 1 with Miss Flynn books, but this took me a short while to get in to. Once I did I was flying through it as the old Katie reappeared, and then I loved it.

a little slow at first but a great read once it got going. added enjoyment as some of it is based in Norfolk!
