Carrie’s bitter. Losing her parents and finding out her teenage sister is pregnant with no father in sight, has just about left her without direction. Running her parent’s store dominates her days, until one hunky rodeo cowboy decides to help out. Will she let Cole become a permanent fixture in her life or will his temporary lifestyle become a wall she isn’t willing to climb? Can she convince him to stay?
Cole rides bulls. A temporary woman is right up his alley until he runs smack into one protective Carrie Marsh. When she sticks her claws into him at the bar, accusing him of getting her sister pregnant, he’s fascinated. Her hazel eyes snap fire as she pins him to his seat. Can he tame the hellcat with the tongue sharper than cheap tequila? Does he want to or will the call of the rodeo pull him away?

Here is another one of those books, that has such promise, that just does not quite hit the mark. This is the first book in the Series, I read, and the author did a good job filling the reader in on Book 1, when needed for the story-line. I liked the characters and their families. This book had steamy love scenes, and many emotional situations. Yes, this book had me in tears, once or twice. The issue I had with this book, was the author introduced too many "Big Events", almost like Sub-Plots, and then rushed them. She never allowed these "Events" to really develop. With all the different situations she threw at Cole and Carrie, it would have taken another 200 pages plus, to really done those events justice. I think the story could have used less of those "events" and not have rushed the main events. Rating 3.5
A wonderful book. It had twist and turns. A story that will keep you guessing till the end. I enjoyed this book very much. It was a emotional ride but well worth it. Carrie & Cole story is truly one wikd ride from one end to the other.
Carrie Marsh is a strong woman, a woman who has gone through her limits. She is tired and just wants to give up. Her little sister is pregnant of all things, another burden in her life. Carrie loves Jessica but there are days when she wants to be free from everything; from Jessica, her store, and problems. Of all the things happening, and the drama in her life, she never expected a cowboy, especially one like Cole Wilder. Man, on sight her insides are all mushy and her legs wobbly just by looking at him. Cole Wilder is gorgeous, sexy, virile, and oh all hers which scares her the most. Having a man right now is not what she needs but something about Cole shows he is not the settling kind of a guy. A fling with him is what she needs, but can she keep her heart out of falling for this prime sexy cowboy.
Cole Wilder is a bachelor and loves it. Sure he envies his brother Chase a little bit for finding his woman, but marriage is not for him. He loves all sorts of women, but somehow Carrie Marsh is one he wants for good. This scares him for something about this woman is making him actually fall in love. Love is something he never thought he would feel and Carrie is definitely a woman that begs for his love. She is sexy, beautiful and has gotten under his skin. One minute he wants her in bed beneath him forever and the next he wants to be with her everyday to lean on her for strength. Carrie denies she wants to be with him forever, but can he prove to her they belong together?
Oh my God, I thought the first book in the Wilder series was great, but this one…wow. I don’t know how Sandy did it, but she made these Wilder men hotter than ever. Cole is definitely the typical bachelor always out for a good lay. Carrie is one woman he can’t let go. I loved that instantly these two were hot for each other, and can tell the love they feel for each other right away. Not only were they passionate together, but man, Sandy sure revved up the heat in this book. Can’t wait for more of this series, for Sandy did an awesome job.
I purchased this book along with the entire series when I was at Romfest where I meet Sandy Sullivan and she signed the entire series for me. This is my favorite book of the series so far. Cole is my favorite Brother. Carrie is such a strong independent woman. I give this book 5 stars.
Carrie looses both her parents and had to leave college to take care of her younger sister and run the family store in town. Her seventeen year old sister winds up pregnant and Carrie mistakenly thinks Cole is the father of the baby. She confronts Cole in the local tavern one night giving him the third degree about how he needs to step up and take responsibility for his mistake. Well let’s just say she stirs all kinds of things up in Cole.
Cole helps Carrie out in the store one day instead of riding in the rodeo. Carrie has a no Rodeo guys policy, but decides for this weekend she will break that policy. She decides to have a one night stand with Cole. They go back to her house one thing leads to another and when her sister, Jess, gets home she catches Cole and Carrie in bed together. Well all hell broke loose in the Marsh household. Jess thinks Carrie is a hypocrite.
After their weekend together Cole left with the Rodeo and for 6 months never called or contacted Carrie. Cole shows back up just in time for the arrival of Carries nephew and helps Carrie through a very hard time in her life. Then he has to leave for because his mom has a stroke. Only he gets in an accident and is in a coma. Neither Carrie nor Cole has told each other how they feel about each other and now will they ever be able to or will Carrie loose someone else she cares about. Want to find out you will just have to read the book. I know I know I have to leave you hanging this was my favorite one and I want you to read it.
This story is surrounded by tragedy--the loss of parents, the unplanned pregnancy of the younger sister, the brief affair between Carrie and a celebrated rodeo rider, and all the stresses that come when young people have to grow up very quickly. This second story in the Wilder Series takes place away from the family homesteads but involves one of the Wilder brothers, one that has never really thought about or had any inclination to settle down. He's just having too much fun. He is still very connected to his family, but he is definitely doing his own thing. His introduction to Carrie, the owner and proprietor of the local general store--feed, tack, farm supplies, etc -- has a ripple effect that none of the main characters anticipates. It is a story that is full of pathos and emotion and there was a point where I really wondered if there was any kind of HEA in the future for these people. Sandy Sullivan is a very good writer and one that has that ability to keep the story moving without it feeling rushed or moving past important points in the story. I was surprised at how I came to the end and didn't realize that I had been reading steadily--just engrossed in a very good novel and enjoying it a whole lot. I was sorry to see it end and delighted that there were more in this Wilder Series available.
I really enjoyed this book. You could really feel the characters emotions, and you so knew that Carrie and Cole loved each other it was just obnoxious that neither would say it! I did get annoyed with Cole and Carrie trying to push each other away instead of just telling each other how they really feel, but it all turned out ok. I couldn't believe Carrie's nerve to yell at Cole's mother in the hospital waiting room in front of the entire family. Even if the woman did cheat with her father, she had no right to have that discussion in front of Cole's siblings and his father. She should have pulled the mother aside to have the discussion, and I was glad she was put in her place by Cole's mother! I was really mad at Cole's brother Justin too for wanting to be with Carrie and instigating in Cole's hospital room... how could you do that to your brother especially when he's just found out he may never walk again?!
This one made me cry. How much suffering can one woman take? Carrie couldn't help falling in love with a man who couldn't promise forever because he was a rodeo cowboy. I love the fact that Chase and Abby were in this book to and helped with getting Cole and Carrie together. This series is turning out to be a good one.
