Sometimes people are just begging for it.
We've all dreamed of putting one obnoxious fool or another in there place with a right hook that deposits them in a heap on the pavment. It would be for the good of society. I mean, sometimes some people are just begging for it. That, however, will get you arrested, so the closest we can get without the police getting involved is getting to read about it.

A friend gave me this book to read at the end of a long business trip and I was so happy to have it. Squished into the tiny plane, I was pretty jolly because of all the people that I was picturing needed a punch in the face.Lots of fun. Completely irreverent.

A mildly entertaining book, kind of like reading a funny website or blog. This book sat in our bathroom for awhile and now that I finally read it, it'll get donated to Goodwill for someone else to stick on the back of their toilet.

Let's face it, people are getting ruder. I don't know why, they just are. Although I don't have empirical data and proof, I have worked in retail for the last 20+ years and I know what I'm talking about. That enough makes me want to punch people in the face. Also, I ride public transportation, which is filled with multiple "face-punching" opportunities per ride.

This is a cute little book (they would probably punch me for saying "cute") that lists several offenders that society wouldn't condemn you for punching. The real life offender that prompted them to start their popular blog, peoplewhodeserveit.com? "Girl Who Talks On Cell Phone in Holocaust Museum". Other punchable people include people who walk too slow on urban sidewalks, leave long voicemails, and the sloppy sandwich maker (thank God they don't employ any at the Subway that I go to.).

They also shout out people who don't deserve it and they time-travel to the past and future to punch people there. Also, each post gives instructions on how to punch that person, if you need that. Sometimes laugh out loud funny. Which is why someone has probably labeled me Girl Who Laughs Too Loudly On The Train.

Was really looking forward to this, being of the mind that there comes a time when you should be able to punch certain people in the face. Really, the only thing saving one of my co-workers is that fact that she's barely half my size. In all it's not nearly as funny or creative as the title would lead you to believe. I can think of dozens of other people who deserve a socially responsible punch in the face: People who call to make an appointment and then say "I'll have to call you back after I look at my calendar." YOU called ME to MAKE an appointment, idiot.... any way... It's at least a good conversation starter.

A idea está moi ben, claro, ninguén máis fan da violencia xustificada ca min. O problema é que a miña PUNCHOPEDIA estaría encabezada polxs autorxs deste libro.

I got this book for free from the office library. They have a bunch of books that were donated to them that they didn't want, so we can take as many books as we like for free.

This was a really fast read, and I enjoyed reading it. Humorously sarcastic with well placed pop culture references.

So, the big question is, do I agree with this book that some people really deserve to be punched in the face ? 80% yes, lol.

Some don't really feel like they should be punched in the face. Maybe a stern glare until the person gets uncomfortable and runs away.

I admit I may have done some of the things mentioned, but not to the extent that I annoy people.

If this book is published more recently (published 2010), I can see the book getting thicker with more than just punches in the face. Maybe shoving them off a cliff will do, lol

I can see add ons from influencers, every meal photo update, unwelcome pranks, do-gooders who record everything, stupid viral trends, addicted to phones, iPhone/apple users, etc lol. I will definitely read the new version/ update of this book.

This was a great satire and fun read.

I read /People Who Deserve It: Socially Responsible Reasons to Punch Someone in the Face/, by Casey Rand and Tim Gordon.

I've been thinking about comedy recently, with two thoughts related to this book.

1) A lot of good comedy is offensive to certain people or groups. Some great comedy attempts to offend everyone.

2) It's extremely difficult to be laugh-out-loud funny in a book, way harder than, say, on video or in a movie, where you have so many more expressive elements you can work with other than the printed word.

The first 30 minutes of the movie /Old School/ is pretty funny, especially the first time you see it (and yes, sophomoric and offensive in parts, to some).

Tina Fey is that level of funny for the first quarter of so of /Bossypants/, an amazing achievement.

This book is pretty darn funny (and yes, consistently offensive, too, in so many ways, if you care) for most of its 194 pages.

High-larious.

I enjoyed this book! It was silly and clever.... and this was me with a lot of the "people" listed who deserved a punch to the face:

Hallelu photo hallelu.gif

XD

Casey Rand and Tim Gordon are a good team - I really enjoyed their witty and clever descriptions for punches as well as their similes to explain things (for example: "Because evaporated water falling from the sky is her green light to start impaling innocent eyeballs on the street with her giant parasol, like Shaquille O'Neal swinging his jimmy obliviously in the streets of Shanghai.") I loved the fluctuation of tones and the smart ass use of language. In terms of writing, I really loved it! Everything was perfect for a book such as this.

If you enjoy fast, silly reads, this book should be right up your ally. And I bet you'd agree with many of the people listed. If you didn't.... well then your tolerance level must be insanely high ;-)

Thanks for the fun book Ms. Rand and Sir Gordon! I enjoyed it!

This was a funny, tongue-in-cheek analysis of the stupidity of mankind. It covers a wide range of annoying behaviours such as the office lunch stealer, the slow sidewalk walker, the know-it-all, etc. The humour was dry, which I love, but the sarcasm and self-righteousness did get a bit old by the end of the book.

The book is hilarious and I agree with most of the type of people that needed some forced fist massage in their face. I hope nobody take the book seriously and actually punch someone (unless the tool really ask for it). If you do punch someone, do it with power & satisfaction and immediately hire a lawyer! Hahaha

Not a bad book. It was pretty entertaining, although it lacked the laugh out loud factor. The dialogue made me feel like I was watching an episode of Max X. I think the authors tried a little too hard to sound cool.

Some people deserve it but the book was trying to hard to be funny. Barely pulled it off on some of them.

The authors seem to have confused being a jerk with being funny. Maybe they are the one's for whom it would be socially responsible to punch them in the face.
