I was lent this by a friend as I am writing a novel featuring a crone as the main protagonist. My feeling is it has to be read a little tongue-in-cheek but any book that celebrates the older woman can't be a bad thing. I'm a third of the way through it at the moment and really looking forward to the part where I get instructions on how to make my own magical crone cloak complete with my own crone crest! As someone who is now entering the third stage myself I am beginning to appreciate the idea of the Crone as something more than just a toothless, warty old bat. This book really promotes the concept of the older woman as a fully paid up member of society, ie the way older men have been viewed for centuries. SISTERS! Embrace your inner crone!
