Serena Traydon was tired of playing it safe. All her adult life, she’d done what was expected—worked hard, went to school, cared for her aging grandfather, and ignored her own needs. Just once, she wanted someone to take care of her and bring her passions to life. But those deeper, darker desires seemed so forbidden without the right partner.
Keith McLauren had spent years training for this moment. He was a Dom and a he’d finally found the perfect submissive. She might be his secretary but she’d never been at his beck and call. Could he make her his without ruining everything?
Abby Gordon spent most of her free time in school writing stories. English teachers were thrilled, math and science not so much. I'm focusing on two very different series and trying to tell outside stories to take a number. That doesn't always work, but I try! Love in the Shadows is a contemporary series - heavy on the action - of all sorts, very spicy and detailed. The Order of the Rose is an historical saga as two secret societies with very different goals struggle across Europe and time.
I am such a mush! I liked the whole dog gonne thing! I thought the love story between the boss and Admin Assistant was cute. I thought the author explained why he wanted to be an annomous Dom first before reveiling he was the boss made sense. And there is a huge legal/office politics story that threads in and out to the end that made it more than just a romance. Gave it more substance. It isn't a deep, metaphorical read, but it is a sexy, lusty, fun read. I didn't put it down.
This was just an ok read for me. It took me a little while to even feel like Keith was really interested in Serena. I like a good bdsm story, but I can't really get into the ones where someone is called Master. I think if that would have been left out I might have enjoyed it a little more.
Absolutely loved this BDSM romance novel. Serena is Keiths administrative assistant and when she finally starts to reveal her thoughts on those Keith considers good people things become a little hectic in the office. Serena is a good girl from a strict very conservative family so when a chance of a lifetime to be a bad girl and a submissive to a mystery man presents itself she starts to questions everything about herself. Add in the problems in the office, and her past relationships things become dangerous quickly. Keith is the CEO and has always focused on the big picture instead of looking at the little details so when his assistant starts to show him what is going on and how off he has been when it comes to knowing a persons true intentions he starts to want more out of his assistant. This is a great sexy read and it is a great way to start out in the BDSM thought process. It has light bondage, intercourse as well as anal intercourse. This is definitely on the lighter side of BDSM relationships but it shows the thought process behind it. Definitely a must read erotic romance.
Personally, I loved this book. However I am going to give some caveats for others.
If you are looking for a hard core D/s story, you won't find it here. If you are looking for a sexy read with no kink, this is not it.
However, if you are looking for an exciting, sexy, stimulating book that works at developing the characters (lots of side characters though that sometimes detract from the plot but I am hoping they have their own stories later), and throws in a little kink and spice then READ THIS NOW!
I wanted this book to continue just so I could find out about the future of the characters, and got plenty turned on in the process. There are some plot elements that are not "realistic", but then again it is a romance book, not a documentary so deal with it.
I just finished this book last night and I want to read it again already.
This book had the elements of an entertaining story but for me it was ruined by the main male character, Keith. No matter how hard I try, I can't believe a driven, intelligent, exceptional businessman could be so utterly retarded in dealing with people. His complete lack of awareness of the people working in his corporation made him totally unconvincing as a leader, dominant, and therefore love interest. The story didn't ring true because of that.
Good erotic reading, if you alllow yourself to believe she can't recognize her boss under a mask. HERO is a Leader, the boss of the heroine, very dominant SCENES/CONTENT: many/bdsm GENRE/TONE: contemporary/light PAGES: 265 pages
I would actually give this book 3 1/2 stars if allowed. Serena Traydon has always given of herself whether at work, with her family, or through volunteer work. For once she wants someone to care for her. Keith McLauren, usually so wrapped up in his business, finally takes notice of Serena and realizes his assistant could very well be the perfect submissive he's been waiting for. And so begins his plan of being her mysterious master. As his relationship with Serena unfolds, they share more than just passion and Keith discovers there are issues at work he was completely unaware of. Can he and Serena work together to solve these problems and still have their happily ever after? This was my first book by this author. This was a very good erotic story. The sex was off the charts. If you enjoy reading about BDSM, then you'll enjoy this story. There were a couple of factors that kept me from rating it higher however. I felt the story needed a good proofreader. There were many typos, use of wrong word, or issues with word order. There were enough of these issues that it took away from the story for me. Also, I felt confused by all the secondary characters. There were many of them and I couldn't keep up with who was who. I realize this book is part of a series so perhaps if I started with the first book, I wouldn't feel so confused. As I said, it is a good story and I will read more by this author in the future. These were the only two issues that kept me from rating it higher.
Gosh, what a good first novel!! I thoroughly enjoyed it and found it to possess many of the earmarks of writing by a far more experienced writer. It certainly told the story beautifully, developed the characters so that they were recognizable throughout, with good dialogue and actually lots of personality. Even though there are BDSM elements in the story, they are very light weight comparatively speaking, and over all it is about the discovery of the hero's inner need to be far more perceptive about the people and issues around him professionally as well as personally, and the heroine's discovery that her ultra-conservative family weren't in charge of her life. All things being equal, this is a really fine read.
**3.5 stars*** I think this debut author has a talent worth watching. Sure there were some problems with the story. Some parts were a bit choppy and abrupt and you had to suspend belief to think that Serena did not recognize Keith as her secret dom. But overall I liked it - a fast and steamy read. Hope to see more stories about the other characters introduced.
Didn't care for the way the dialogue was written. The lead male did not seem CEO-like and the other characters were poorly developed, coming off as bad sitcom secondaries. The lead female voice didn't work for me either. I've read many other books in this genre that were able to accomplish this type of story/plot without seeming so amateur.
I did not care for the story or plot line, way too cliche. Boss fall for secretary, secretary falls for boss, they hide it from each other, drama drama drama.
Sex scenes were okay, not too gratuitous, but not that exciting.
Characters were one dimensional except for the main couple, they had two.
There were two elements of the book I really enjoyed: The first is that the author did not try to turn a mild manored secretary into an abject sex slave or secretive slut who loves to be used and humiliated. instead chose to just have her interested enough to see if she likes being a submissive. The second is the CEO's response to the confessions of sexual harassment-nice to see the difference between consensual and non-consensual clearly displayed.
Writing was OK if a bit unevocitive, and the pace was OK most of the time.
It was a quick enough read that I would give this freshman author annother try, maybe her fourth or fifth book.
For some reason this one took me by suprise. I like the way that they caught and prosecuted the group of them all, however, what was the purpose supposed to be? What happened with the trust fund? Just things that thought should be answered. What happened with Todd?? Where did that story go, and what about the girls Claire and Clairess??
When Keith McLauren overhears his assistant Serena Traydon talking about getting back in the dating game, he starts questioning what he really knows about Serena. He is attracted to her, but he has a dominant side that he won't waver from and from everything he sees in Serena she is a perfect submissive, even if she doesn't know it yet.
Serena has a secret admirer, a master who is slowly introducing her into a world she knows little about. She is not sure why he will not divulge who he is, but she trusts him enough to pursue the new relationship. However, Keith is not just worried about his sub, he is quickly realizing he has not been as aware as he should be with his company and everything can be ruined if a boss/employee relationship is found out.
I had read this before but not sure what happened to my review. Regardless, this is a great story. I wasn't sure how Serena was going to react when she found out it was Keith, because she had been crushing on him for years. Great read.
I found this story to be a little bit on confusing side with all the secondary characters it was hard for me to keep up with who was who and what was what. I did find parts of the book to be very likable and other parts I didn’t care for and/or was just confusing. It could be because it is part of a series and I was just missing something but for me the author just did not do it. We each have our own taste and we do not all enjoy the same things. Give this author and this book a try you might see something I have missed. Book Obsessed Chicks Review
This was a pretty ok book, but nearing the end, after the..resolution it was pretty drawn out. I understand that there is no such thing as too much sex, but this book had me thinking otherwise. I was constantly waiting for the sex scenes to be over. The description level was also weak, I mean i didn't even know that she was blonde til like I was near the end. Guess that I shoulda taken a better look at the cover
I think if this book was 300+ pages it would be an amazing book. As is, it's a good book. With the story being so short you practically got whip lash from how quickly things moved and changed. If the author had taken the time to build up to each transition instead of rushing through this could have been as great as Fifty Shades, in my own personal opinion.
Absolute toss! Seriously she's just gonna run off and meet a man she doesn't know because he asked her too? What sort of crazy person does that? You're asking to get yourself killed doing that. Ugh epic writing disaster.
I did not care for this book. I couldn't even finish this book. I just got bored and put it down. I have never done that before. Normally, I would finish it because I was curious...nope not this book.
I've read something similar this month but i liked this book much better, it was more engaging, it had more to the storyline and i just connected better with the characters. Good read!
