Tea With Terrorists: Who They Are, Why They Kill, What Will Stop Them

Rate this book
On September 11, America was forced to wake up and face a new enemy. With flags waving and righteous indignation burning in our hearts, we marched out to wage war on terror. There was only one we had no idea who we were fighting, or why. We still don't. Tea with terrorists is a novel set three years in the future. Winn and Power have crafted a taut thriller, equal parts spine-tingling action and bone-jarring truth. Its message is haunting and the source of terror is Islam... not a radical fringe group, not some fanatical terrorist organization. Islam itself. Winn and Power went to the source, daring to meet face to face with al Qaeda, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad-an encounter faithfully recounted in the title chapter. The probed the murky waters of Islamic scripture and history. Rich with detail and buttressed with documentation both ancient and modern, Tea with Terrorists may be a work of fiction, but that doesn't mean it isn't true!

This is an entertaining story that tells the truth about Islam in a fictional but highly provocative way. Do not read this book if you just want to be politically correct about the religion of Mohammed the Prophet; you will be disappointed, and perhaps even a bit displeased.

However, the characters are well done, well rounded and thoughtful.

A minor annoyance for me in this story was an obvious effort to evangelize the reader with more than a chapter's worth (or was it two, or even more?!) of exegesis on the life of Jesus Christ and the historical, scientific, and spiritual validity of Christianity. Though I find nothing wrong with the authors sharing their obvious faith in an effort to convince others, some toning down - or at the very least, smarter dispersal of their exposition would have made the story more enjoyable. However, once the writers got out of their systems the blitzkrieg of doctrinal exposition, the story returned to its roots and, in my opinion, did so nicely and cleanly.

From reading the "forward" to this book, I knew that it was written from a very right-wing, fundamental Christian, hawkish, anti-Islamic viewpoint. What I didn't know was that the plot of the story, which started out very good (US, British, and Israeli special forces are sent on a covert mission to Afghanistan to search out and capture key Al-Quida leaders) would soon almost become lost in a series of lectures on Christianity, the Bible, the Quran, Mohammed and the emergence and rise and spread of Islam. After over 600 pages, I felt as I had been sent back to school. This would have been very enlightening except for the fact that it was very one-sided and left no room for any independent thought or analysis. The plot of the story, or what was left of it, didn't continue to captivate me and I found it difficult to push through to the ending.

This very large book is the best revelation of Islam and terrorism I have seen. The story is a novel and is very violent. If too bloody- skip to the next chapter as it discusses the true beginnings and current beliefs of Muslims. It also parallels that belief system with catholicism, judaism, budism, and christianity. Most comprehensive!

Ridiculously inflammatory and highly offensive to anyone with even half of a brain. To say a right wing extremist wrote this would be an offense to even right wing extremists. Books like this prove how much hate exists in the world and why it continues in the name of "truth."
