So, like I said before when I first started this. Or at least when I remembered to put it up as in 'I'm reading this right now' I said that there was only 12 stories in this an not the full 15 or however many it said there was. Seeing as it's the 'Many Midnights' by: Rick McQuiston chills by Candlelight. It's a self published one so he was the one that published it an not the publishing company that he might have his other books under since this one is fully paper an I got it from him at a craft show back in either 2013 or 2014. Seeing as I don't remember for sure what the year was, which then I forgot about it until I did a clean book sweep of my room an started looking for ones I knew I wouldn't read again or didn't plan to. So, now that I did and finished it. Shall we get on to the review now that you know the back history of me and this book? I think so. So without further ado....

The review:

What the heck did I just read?? There are 12 short stories in this in total. They are
1) A Monster Story

2) The Spider

3)Facing your Fears

4) A perfect and Attractive Smile

5) Silence is Golden

6) A Bad Day at Work

7) The Shape of Color

8) A Beautiful Fall Day

9) The Other Half

10) Time

11) Many Midnights

and 12) The Demons Smile.

While all of these sound good and make you want to read them.. I know they do.
The short stories in this version of this book didn't make much sense to me. The first one and the forth one I liked the best. Although they are just as twisted an messed up as the other ones in here. By no means or in any way would this be considered a child's horror. If I had to put a name to it. I would just call it 'Twisted'.

Mainly because almost every story has some type of reference to blood. An if it doesn't then- well guess what. They person or people die. Yep. Simple as that. Plus another thing that I didn't care for was the fact that it seemed as if he pushed things by to fast. One thing would happen then something else would and then BAM their dead. The End. Maybe it was just me but this is what I felt.

The last one I just finished a couple minutes ago now, and I think it should of had more pages instead of just two. Seeing as I felt he should of added a little more detail to what had happened to the place they went into. An a little more back drop to the charters. Seeing as the beginning and middle half were good, but then the ending makes no sense what so ever. It left me closing the book asking myself: 'What? What kind of ending was THAT??' If felt so unfinished... so sad.

What is going to happen to Tommy and the two girls?? Is Kenny the demon in this story and he brought them there to kill them?? Whose dead body was it? Where did the blue Nike shoes come from on the dead body?? Seeing as Kenny was wearing blue Nike shorts. Not shoes. But even then, the shoes were on the dead body and not on the demon by the stairs. SO MANY UNANSWERED QUESTIONS!!!

At least some of the other stories were better an went into more detail. Even if they were gruesome. At least they made more sense and ended rather well even if the ending was rather fast an not always in the best spots.

But then again this is AGAIN a self published issue of this book so maybe the one that it shows is better. I can't really comment on it though since I haven't read that version of the book. So by all means if you like horror and reading some twisted things go for it.
