Combining suspense, high drama, and seduction, Nothing Stays the Same is about a man who’s on the brink of losing his business, home, family, and even his self-respect.
Marvin Thomas, CEO of Thomas and Richmond Tecktronics, Inc., is living the good life. He and his partner, Kenny Richmond, head a Fortune 500 company in Atlanta. But Marvin is harboring a secret. The company is deep in debt and is being threatened with a takeover—which Marvin has failed to share with his partner, the shareholders, and his wife.
Marvin has exhausted most of the company’s available cash flow, including his own, to keep the company afloat and faces the biggest decision of his life— save the business or sell his shares in the company of which he’s the majority shareholder. However, a fifty-thousand-dollar extortion scheme and an incriminating photo may send Marvin over the edge long before he’s had an opportunity to redeem himself.
Tried this book off the title alone and had no idea it was a Part Two..I may not have read it as I hate coming into a book and not really knowing the "whole story"...Anyways so apparently this follows the stories of several divorced friends-the Ex-files- that bonded together when they were at their lowest and are now all happily married, successful and still close friends. Life seems good for everyone and the company started by friends Marvin and Kenny until Marvin's secret investments and poor planning cause the company more financial trouble then imagined. Harboring guilt from hiding their company's impending imminent takeover from this business partner and wife all come to a head as Marvin, with his back against the wall and without anyone's consent or knowledge tells his lawyer he will sell his shares in his company. Realizing what a cowardly and hasty thing he felt he had to do he then goes to a bar to get drunk after vowing never to drink again to forget it all happened. In more ways than one it was a bad night for Marvin as he gets irresponsibly drunk and ends up with Peaches, a seductress hellbent on making him her next payday..After this plot was introduced I felt the book kinda went downhill fast..I was able to really enjoy the buildup and plot twists but felt the climax lacking--all the group sessions, amateur detective and kinda cliched black females were in some ways hard to swallow..I found myself ready for this book to end as I was not too fond of any character and felt this would have been better if it were longer and more involved in the backstory of the evil Peaches..The book tries to end with a cliffhanger but I dont think I have the interest to find the sequel..Entertaining to a point but not enough to be recommended or unforgettable..
This book was off the chain! I loved it! I was hooked to the story from beginning to end! The characters were fun, and the plot was very engaging! I was shaking my head at Marvin Thomas. I wanted to slap him for the stupid things that he did. Out of all of the characters in the story, I thought Peaches was the craziest! This chick had some serious issues. The suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat. I was so glued to the pages. I could not put the book down. I loved the intense drama! I was very impressed with the writing style. As I was reading the story, I also experienced sadness. I was laughing at some of the conversations between the characters. I also loved the strong friendships in the story. A lot of the scenes made me so nervous. I also liked that a lot of the characters encouraged each other. I liked the romance scenes as well. This is the first book that I have read from Suzetta Perkins. I look forward to reading the follow-up to this story, as well as other books from this author. I highly recommend this book. You will absolutely love it! Trust me, you will not be able to put the book down. Happy reading!
This book was so good. I really enjoyed it. The characters were so real and they pull you right into their drama and mess. It is about a group of friends who form a group called the Ex-Files to help get over their exes. Lots of drama and twists and turns. This book is the second in a three-part series. I would definitely recommend this book.
I just stopped reading this book. It got too slow & the characters became too boring for me. I'm Not a fan of Zane's literature, and probably had no business picking up any books she "presents."
