Worshipping God

For many, worship means getting together to sing hymns or choruses. In this volume R.T. Kendall shows the true meaning of worship - how it is affected by our obedience, our personalities and by church tradition.

My first book by R.T. Kendall, I've heard a lot about him, a reason I picked this book when I saw it on Net Galley.

Every book will have good things and faults, but I must say, I found this book really inspiring and eye-opening.

I've read a lot of books on Worshipping and have had my own understanding vs. wrestling with my shyness and bringing up, vs. what's taught in churches and what's right. I got a lot of my questions answered here and I am sure, I will be reading it over and over again, and will go back to referencing this often.

It is a book that's written in a way it is easy to read and understand without compromising the intensity and sensitivity of the topic. This books makes it easy to see through, question one's belief and understanding and explains what it means to give up control to God and connect with Him, the right way.

**I was given a copy through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

I’m an R.T.Kendall fan, and I’ve enjoyed his musings and preaching on a variety of subjects over various years. As I’ve journeyed for a little while as a self-consciously ‘Charismatic’ follower of Jesus, he has been a helpful guide through some of the more contentious issues. One of these – which is at the same time an inherent and vital part of Christian vocabulary and practise – is worship, the topic of the book I am reviewing today. Kendall has written ‘Worshipping God: Devoting Our Lives to His Glory”, and it is one of the more helpful books on worship I have come across.

This was the first book of the year for my book club. I normal read books quite fast but I decided to take time over this. As a member of the music team at my church I was very interested, and happy to find, that Kendall held many of the views I have on what worship consists off. All the way through I was thinking of Matt Redmans song ‘when the music fades’ when the music fades all is stripped away and I simply come longing just to bring something that’s of worth. I’m coming back to the heart of worship where it’s ALL ABOUT YOU JESUS. I’m sorry lord for the things I’ve made it.
Highly recommend this book to anyone involved in any aspect of church

As in any book, there are good points & things to learn. I could take it or leave it. There are many books on worship which are more useful than this one. Unfortunately, when it was republished in 2017 they did not adequately edit the original 1989 copy.

This is a book about worship that should be read and re-read by serious Christian. Very engaging and easy to understand. I was enriched by this book and have recommended it to my sister.

Thank you Netgalley for this book
