A Time Machine back to the Dark Ages of cartooning, before we all became (dare I say it?) politically correct and watched our backs!
And before Cozy became a classically senior citizen Literary Genre.
Do you even remember those days of the eighties - faster, leaner and better - free market capitalism? I do.
And they grated on my nerves!
So now that we all are older and wiser and we care enough about our seniors to keep them cozy, comfortable and numb it's all different.
And this hilariously indigestible morsel which reminds us of the world of not giving a f*** we once knew (for it was the beleaguered dawn of a new generation - Generation X) is an artefact.
Sadly (because I like it as an anodyne).
Yes, for the earliest Pickles strips are refreshing in their candour.
Women outlive men so they can clean up the mess they've left. Earl hates the pet cat and laughs and says “Yes!” when his cage is put on a different flight from Opal's, to parts unknown! That kinda ugly stuff.
But I liked it. I'm a senior... And that's me.
Oh, well. You Kids probably won't. But I don't eat my words...
Cause I loved it!
With a tip of the hat to my fellow cozy seniors I've given it four and a half stars.
I'm not a writer, I'm a reader so.... This is a fun light view of life's little occurrences seen from an older, settled couples view point. It was a delightful read.
