When Milo Santiago was truthful about his homosexuality to his family and friends, his entire world was turned upside down. Not only has his parents practically disowned him; his friends from his hometown have turned their backs on him too. Since Milo is only eighteen, he’s trying to save some money so he can attend college and have the independent life that he craves. He’s working full shifts as a waiter, and living with his older brother, Dante.
One afternoon, Milo spots an older, handsome man sitting alone at the restaurant he works at. When one of his fellow co-workers notices Milo’s attraction to the handsome customer, he dares Milo to approach the man and ask him out. Since Milo thinks he doesn’t have anything to lose, he approaches the attractive man and fumbles badly by giving the man a terrible come on line. The man looks insulted, gives Milo a few choice words, and leaves without a second glance. Milo feels not only humiliated for being turned down, he’s disappointed as well.
As soon as Milo gets off of work, he knows he needs to do something to get his mind off of being rejected. Since one of his friends work at a local hotel, Milo’s friend allows him to swim in the pool at night. Milo knows this will be a great way for him to blow off some steam and hopefully help him forget the handsome man at the restaurant. Milo is in the middle of swimming some laps when someone else gets into the pool with him. To his utter disbelief, it is the gorgeous man who shot him down at the restaurant just hours before, and it looks like the older man has changed his mind about Milo’s earlier proposition.
Campbell “Cam” Brooks is just in town for a few days. When he realizes the hot young man in the pool is the same one that approached him at the restaurant, it doesn’t take a lot of persuasion for him to change his mind about hooking up with Milo. Cam has no intention of getting serious with anyone; especially with a man who is eight years younger than he is. But, as Cam and Milo start spending time together they both realize that they have more in common than they thought, and there is something very special growing between them.
But, between money issues, fear of commitment, the age difference and being in a long distance relationship make both Cam and Milo realize that there are many obstacles that can keep them from having a relationship together. As both men work through their own set of insecurities and issues, they have to decide if having that once in a lifetime love, is truly worth all the hard work and taking a chance for after all.
I loved this book! Milo does a lot of growing up in this book. In the beginning of the book he was a semi-immature eighteen year old, but as the story progressed; his character slowly evolves to a more mature and well balanced character. At first, I wasn’t sure about Milo being with the older and more mature Cam, but the sexual chemistry and the emotional pull they had between them, soon made me see that they not only brought out the best in one another, I felt they truly belonged together as well.
Ms. Young is a master at writing erotic moments between her characters. Not only are the sex scenes intense and beautifully written, the emotional bond between Milo and Cam jumped off of the pages and into my heart. I soon found myself rallying behind both Milo and Cam, and I rejoiced when they found the happiness they deserve to have together.
Reckless Heart is the fourth book in the ‘Reckless’ series. I think this book can easily be read as a stand alone if you haven’t read the entire series. I do recommend that the series be read because all of the main characters do play a part in the final book, and the series itself is truly an amazing one. Even though I was ecstatic that all of the characters in the “Reckless” series had such a solid and happy ending in the epilogue, it was also a little bittersweet for me too. I truly hated to say goodbye all of the characters I’ve grown rather fond of, and to see this wonderful series come to an end.
This was the 4th (and last) book in the Reckless series and I was glad to to see things ending in a high note, after being somewhat disappointed with the previous book.
When I started reading this book, I was kind of wary of Milo's age - he's only 18 - but he won me over with his unexpected maturity. Sure, he had some few whiny moments, but they fit the story and didn't annoy me. In fact, I felt his insecurity as if it was my own.
Cam was a little harder to understand at first, as I didn't know what he wanted from Milo. Once again, Ms. Young did a good job there, because I soon realized that Cam himself didn't know what he wanted. I think that's great writing, when the author makes me feel what the characters feel.
All in all, this was a very good read and I loved how Milo and Cam interacted - not only in the bedroom, but also the way they talked and cleared any possible misunderstandings. Very good! :)
Milo and Cam Sweet Romance Lovely read !! Milo living with his brother and partner is young and full of lust. When he discovers a beautiful man sitting at a table in the bar where he works, he knows he's going to ask him for a hookup together. When Cam listen to what Milo is offering he dismissed him and is gone. They meet again under different circumstances and they have a great evening at Cam's hotel room. When Cam is in the shower Milo put on his clothes and is gone. But guess what..... they meet again under unexpected circumstances.
Cam is only staying for the weekend and they spend it together and they have the time of their life. But.....Cam has to leave again.....Both aware this can't go on. Only the heart speaks another language.
Two very different men: one is thrown out by his parents for being gay, working hard to survive The other lost his mother and has a terrible relationship with his father....and has a business to run.
A really lovely read, somewhat good worked out. Sometimes lighthearted and sometimes totally not. It had a lot of story in it. Milo was the 'young' one and Cam the older man. Oke he was eight years older but still young. So 'older man' is not really a good term in the blurb...... I enjoyed this one because it was balanced, there was more than the two men in this story and.....there is a HEA
The Reckless series has been one of my favorites in the gay romance genre so far. I liked the intensity between characters and the obvious affection all of the past characters had for each other.
I loved all the Reckless books and I thought the second one was my favorite but no, it's this one. Milo is all angsty and I love that about him and Cam is hot and thinks he knows what should happen between them, thinks he knows what's best. It's the perfect conclusion to the series and I like the wrap up at the close of the book the best. I don't like to guess and hope at the end of my stories, I want my HEA spelled out in neon so I can sigh happily and contentedly. I want the romance and I got my fix big time.

A man's ego can be his evil downfall is the saying which comes to my mind on this story. I'm glad I chose this one to read and at the most opportune moment. A light love story without the abundance of sex scenes that tend to clusterfawk a story into oblivion with no turning back. It was simple, easy to follow and well put. No confusion added.
Boy meets man. Boy gets rebuffed. Boy takes a chance. Boy wins what he most desires in the end. The man.
What can I say about Milo? I thought he was going to be young and naive, especially considering he is 18 years old and just came out as being gay.
Well surprise surprise, Milo is not some naive teenager. He knows what he wants and goes for it. He may be young when it comes to some things, but when it comes to relationships, he knows what he wants and isn't afraid to go after it.
He meets Cam at the restaurant he works at, Pearl. Milo makes a move on Cam and gets shot down. They have a chance meeting at the hotel is staying at and things get wild from there. Their instant chemistry was amazing to behold. They fit together very well.
I really enjoyed this story and was happy that it was longer than the other books in the series. This was a really enjoyable story and I'm sad the series is over. I sure hope not.
It was a tiny bit rushed at times- or at least it felt like that to me, in the emotions department-: true, it may have seemed like it because it was short; but I still liked it.
I could connect faster with Milo (which may have been due to the fact that he's the main pov), but once I got to know Cam a bit better, he won me over- slowly, but surely- as well.
There was just something about their connection that made me root for them. True, at times it felt like the focus on sex was a bit too much, and like the on-page development of their actual relationship would have benefitted from a bit more dedication, but what's important to mention, at least, is that even if all the process, all the explanations and the important things weren't thoroughly described, I could actually feel the buildup of their closeness in a deeper level than sexual chemistry exclusively. I did buy into their actual, emotional chemistry. And that's what I think that matters to mention.
I was also very much a fan of the exploration of the family dynamics- although I sometimes wished that it didn't have to be so similar an experience for Milo and Cam to come from with their respective families (no spoilers, but it's an overused trope I would want to see gone asap). However, I did enjoy the presence of Adam and Beau's famiy- and the relationship of Milo and Dante as well!
All in all, I think it could have been better, but it was good.
This is the fourth book in Amanda Young’s Reckless series and I’m here to say that it’s the perfect story with which to end the series. At least I’m assuming it’s the end with that epilogue.
Have I mentioned that I love epilogues? Well I do, I really do! And this one ties everything up beautifully. But if you want to know what it’s about then you’re definitely going to have to get your own copy ‘cause my lips are sealed!
Milo is a relatively new character; he’s Dante’s brother and he showed up in the second book—Reckless Behavior. Finally getting to know him was great as, up until now, he’d pretty much only been Dante’s younger brother. I love that Dante took him in when he’d been kicked out his home after coming out to his parents… but then, Dante knew exactly what that felt like. And for Milo, knowing that Dante understood I’m sure made things, while still difficult, a lot easier. Dante’s a wonderful older brother…even if he’s a little on the bossy side. *grin* Okay, as far as Milo’s concerned ‘a little bossy’ is a vast understatement when it comes to his brother.
In the first book—Reckless Seduction—even though Cody was only nineteen, I found him to be quite mature. I don’t really know what it was, but I didn’t find it odd that he and Dante would be a great couple: Once Dante got past the age thing that is.
With Milo, I didn’t get the same impression of ‘older’ that I had with Cody, but neither did I find him particularly immature. He’s only eighteen, but I’m sure that being kicked out of one’s family must foster some fairly major emotional changes. And Milo’s taken some very adult steps to create a life for himself…of course the big thing—having his older brother take him in—would very likely give him some stability, again something that can only help. At this stage in his life, I don’t think Milo’s taking too much for granted.
Cam…what to say about Cam? First of all I felt all swoony over him; he’s a gorgeous guy, but as we get to know more about him my second thought was that he’d been through some terrible things. And that just made me sad. He’s blamed himself for any number of years for his mother’s death; and it doesn’t help that his estranged father is also quite happy to settle the blame on his “deviant” son’s shoulders… what a guy. *eyeroll* But still Cam’s taken his mother’s dream and made it grow and thrive… he’s a heckuva guy!
I really enjoyed Reckless Heart; as I said before it’s a great end to the series, but even better is that it’s a wonderful story on its own. Amanda Young is a terrific writer and I can always connect with her characters. Being able to follow these men has been a treat, but I’m in no way finished with them! That’s the beauty of books—they can be re-read and with Amanda’s books that’s a given.
Like all the other books in the series, Reckless Heart plays a bit with the twink theme, i.e. a slightly older man who fall in love with a barely legal boy.
Milo is Dante’s little brother, one of the above older men, and when it’s time for his brother to fall in love for a man, Dante readily forget that he himself is involved with a 19 years old boy, when he is well over 30. Actually Cam, the man Milo falls in love with, is “only” 26 years old, so the age gap is not much, more than the difference in age is the difference in lifestyle that makes their relationship starting in a rocky way.
Milo meets Cam in the restaurant he is working part-time; even if his brother Dante has now a comfortable life, and wealthy friends like Cody and Beau, Milo is more or less a runaway kid: he was kicked out of home when he came out, and now he has nowhere to go if not his brother. He will start college in the winter but meanwhile he is really wondering what to do with his life, a life that he is not considering so much, the refusal of his parents weights on his shoulder.
Cam on the other hand comes from money, but this doesn’t mean he had a better relationship with his parents; his beloved mother took his life when Cam, probably her only reason to live, was in college and his father doesn’t accept him being gay. While Milo turns his parents refusal in the possible refusal of any other person he will care for, Cam learned from his parents’s experience that love is not a long term affair. Both men have no reason to believe that their casual affair will last, and so they embark on it with no strings attached.
But Milo is very young, and at his first important experience, and of course even if his mind tells him to not being involved, his heart has other plan. I think he cajoled a bit Cam in this relationship, true Cam cares for Milo, but if he didn’t play his cards on the right way, I had the feeling that for Cam the experience would have been only a nice memory. On the other hand Cam is not an uncaring person, and when he realizes the feeling of Milo run deeply, he cannot treat him like yet another twink.
The story is nice, a good addition to the series, and it was also nice to have the final wrap up, with all the couples from the previous books play happy family together.
This series is all about fighting for what you want. And Milo definatly isn't going to give up on what he wants. Cam so isn't interested in the snot nose little brat. But what he isn't aware of, is that what is meant to be WILL be. And Milo will make sure of it. This the last book in the series and it was closed out nicely. Sad to see the characters go as they do grow on you. If you enjoyed the first three, then I recommend this one. Happy Reading!
2.75 stars - I'm a little on the fence with this one because I did enjoy parts of Reckless Heart, and felt like it was a well written story, but I didn't really feel the spark of chemistry between the two main characters. Perhaps it was just me, but I couldn't connect with them. Milo was a bit easier to connect with, but still the chemistry I was looking for was missing and Cam was hard to understand. He rejects Milo quite harshly at first and is distant, and then they get together so quickly and Cam has a sort of complete personality change or something. He's still distant, but I just didn't really get him. I found myself wanting to know more, to really understand why he was acting the way he did... and honestly he frustrated me a bit too!
Milo was sweet, and definitely the more likeable of the two. He's only 18 at the start, so he acts a bit childish at times, but that didn't bother me too much.
I'm an epilogue junkie and I'll admit that the epilogue saved the story and tied up a lot of it, and also filled us in on the futures of all the characters involved in the story. That was nice, and I did like being able to read about that.

The Reckless series continues with the story of Milo and Cam. Milo is Dante’s little brother who is kicked out of the house after coming out as a gay, just like Dante was. He meets Cam and they have a hot night together, never expecting to see each other again. But fate intervenes when they meet again at Beau and Adam’s wedding. I thoroughly enjoyed the first books in the series but for me, this book was not the best in the series. All the elements are there: good writing, great plot and interesting characters. The story is fast paced as a short story is prone to be but it never felt rushed. The attraction between the Milo and Cam is palpable and the intimate scenes sizzling hot. It still felt a bit off, somehow. I think that has everything to do with Cam’s reaction to their budding relationship. There is a six-year age difference between them but it appears much larger. Although Cam is older Milo comes across as the wiser and more mature one. This is the fourth book in the series but can be read as a standalone. As there are recurring characters, I recommend you read the first books in order, though.
Milo Santiago is eighteen year old trying to make enough money to go to college and build a life for himself after he is thrown out by his parents for being gay. He's staying with his brother, Dante (see book 1 in series). When a gorgeous guy (Campbell Brooks) walks into the restaurant he works in, Milo can't help but to approach the guy only to be quickly shot down. Campbell isn't really the emotional or committment type. The two eventually come to a understanding and start up a relationship that benefits them both. But when one of them comes to the realization they've fallen for the other things may not end well.
I enjoyed the story but I wished it was more fleshed out. The epilogue skipping seven years into the future left me wanting more. I was interested finding out what happened between those years. It's not exactly the only part I wanted to know more about but it was what it was. Milo and Cam seemed to evenly balance each other and I liked that they had to work to make their relationship work.
An ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.
I am so happy to say I really enjoyed the finale to this series. I was a bit nervous because though I do love a good May-December read, I'm kind of picky about them. I worried for nothing. I loved Cam. I'm a sucker for the nice-but-broken-guy-that-needs-love, and he fit that bill to a T. I liked Milo. He wasn't overly young but not too mature for his age either. Once they moved past their awkward first meeting and their sexy first hookup, I loved their sexy connection and the ease they seemed to feel around each other, despite the issues they faced. A well rounded story with good flow and a really cool epilogue wrapping up the series sealed the deal for me; this one goes to the reread folder. Can't wait to see what Amanda Young writes next!
This was exactly what I was looking for. A beautiful sweet romance with a little angst and drama thrown in. Cam and Milo are a great couple. I liked how the author worked the back story in throughout the book rather than all at once. The epilogue was by far my favorite part. Not only do you get to see how Cam and Milo are doing but we also got to see how Beau and Adam and Dante and Cody are doing. I love Amanda Young's work and look forward to what she does next. I was given the privilege and opportunity to receive an advanced reader copy and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I have enjoyed this series so far and have found the journey's to HEA's enjoyable to read and this one for Milo and Cam is no exception. Both are suffering being hurt by their families for their sexual preferences and Cam is trying to ensure that distance between his heart and desires remains but Milo sneaks his way in. Physical distance is what mainly keeps them apart but Amanda ensures that Milo and his 'older man' Cam have their HEA in a way that both deserve.
I hope we see more as the series continues.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book
WOW!! I really love this book and author. Great storyline that is brilliantly written and developed. It captivated me right from the beginning and I could not put it down. Milo and Cam are wonderful characters with off the charts chemistry and passion. I love watching them progress throughout the book. Looking forward to reading more from this author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This was a good, quick read. The romance moved along at a steady pace once they got past their initial wariness. Cam and Milo are likable characters and the story has a good flow. The passion is strong and the spicy scenes are well done. There is some angst between Milo and his brother but with the age difference I wouldn't expect any less. I like this author and will read more from her.
May/December. Milo and Cam are very different but connected by their attraction for one another. Both have issues with their parents that have caused trust issues. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Pretty simple story about a young guy and a slightly older one. They live in different cities but work it out. Not much to this story. Typo: a sensor doesn't filter words; that's a censor.
Yay! I'm one of those maniacs who fills their wish lists with books and then every few months or so buys half of them without even remembering what those books are about. Then they get shoved on my TBR pile and randomly pickded up. Most of the books I've bought are simply bad.
So, when I picked up this one, read it through and loved it, I was nearly squealing because I was so happy. The MCs were great and pretty well fleshed out, even though the story was an unashamed boy meets boy.
Whatäs more, there was an excellent opportunity for a big confrontation near the end that the author avoided and I, who am a lover of conflicts between MCs, liked it. Somehow the lack of drama suited the characters and the tone of the book. And if you like a fluffy epilogue, this one has even that.
And now I need to go buy yet again some books, because I need the other books of this series.
I received an ARC from the author through the instafreebie program.
I've read the first two books in the series so it was only natural to accept this book in return for a review. Milo and Cam are sweet characters who have bad experiences with parents accepting them for who they are. Milo is now working at a restaurant saving up for college and living with his brother. They meet when Cam is in his old home town on the anniversary of his mother's death and in order to attend a wedding.
Distance is the main obstacle to them having a relationship, once they both accept the fact that they want one.
There wasn't a lot of angst to the story or plot but the HEA was definitely there!
