My preschoolers had the lifecycle of a frog unit at their preschool last week. So we read this on to aid that. Super simple text with great photographs to engage and educate kids. Suitable for 4+.

This is a non-fiction book for children that covers the life cycle of a frog. The pictures within the book are real photos. The book would be beneficial during the life cycle class room theme or even just for the science center.

This book was very simple and got it's point across. It explained the vocabulary words well. A child who loves frogs and nature would be interested in this book. The book explained the various parts of the life of a frog and its characteristics.

*Tadpole to Frog was actually written by Lisa M. Herrington. Goodreads doesn’t have that book, so I pulled one up that was similar.

Twin Text- Froggy Builds a Tree House by Jonathon London, copyright 2011

Selection Rationale- Tadpole to Frog goes through the stages of how a tadpole changes into a frog. This book would be good for the kindergarten and first grade students. The book is simple to read/simple to teach to kids. Froggy Builds a Tree House is a fun picture book to read to young kids. This book has pictures of how a frog looks like while talking about how Froggy builds a treehouse and meets other friends along the way.

Strategy- Tadpole to Frog uses description when describing the vocabulary words. It has captions to describe more about the frog. The book also uses chronological sequence to describe the steps in order. After reading and discussing Tadpole to frog, students will design their own pictures with the steps in chronological order. Students will label their pictures with one to two words.

Informational #7
This book goes through and shows the life cycle of a frog and how it all starts out as a tadpole. Each stage of the life cycle is shown through pictures and offers vocabulary terms to go along with some of the pages. It also has all of the vocabulary words written in the back of the book in a glossary. This book could be used to teach about vocabulary or life cycles (or both together!).

Good early non-fiction book. I liked the pictures, take a closer look, and the glossary words in bold. Can use this one to teach beginning research skills.

Read this to my 5yr old nephew. He told me that his teachers picked the book for him because he was out. But it was still a good book and he liked it.
