The book on the whole in poorly written, with no ground breaking discovers or insights, a disappointing read. The main point the author makes is animals deserve the same respect we give to ourselves (anti-speciesism). The author is also a fan of the extreme animal right group PETA, who advocate veganism, complete ban on animal hunting and use of animals in medical drug testing. Some parts of the book the reader might find offensive especially when Jean compares the cruelty and ill treatment of animals in agriculture to the human slave trade. Even though the author fails to convenience the reader that animal right should be high on the agenda, it does point us in the correct direction.
