Beautifully written, but lots of the interior is not really my style… I agree with the style lessons, but did not love most rooms featured. The book cover is not representative of what’s inside.

Sarah Andrews’ The Poetry of Spaces is a luminous exploration of how design transcends structure to become an intimate language of emotion. Through her five guiding principles light, life, instrument, material, and sense Andrews unveils how every element within a home can tell a story.

Her writing is as evocative as her styling, marrying visual grace with introspective depth. Each featured space feels alive, not simply because of its aesthetic beauty, but because of the human presence it quietly honors. Andrews’ gift lies in her ability to reveal the soul within structure the way a room can breathe, comfort, and inspire.

More than a design book, The Poetry of Spaces is a meditation on mindfulness and meaning in the places we call home. It’s a must-read for anyone who believes that beauty and purpose belong together.Sarah Andrews’ The Poetry of Spaces is a luminous exploration of how design transcends structure to become an intimate language of emotion. By Read I mean flipped through checking the 5 basics. It is beautifully illustrated but would be of use to a limited audience. To anyone renting most of the examples and siggestions would not help as they would require significant input into non essential structure that would probably not be allowed and if it was would probably result in an increase in rent. For those homeowners of us without a free few tens of thousands however although I did get pleasure from working out the 'if I could afford it' changes I might make to my home if I could afford investing in tattslotto - needing to start by restumping. That aside it is worth a flick through just to look at gorgeous interiors. it also confirmed a few basic design decisions I have made over the years. The section on Life is lovely to read just as an approach, as it allows me piles of books by my bed. The stress on individual person led style was refreshing, and I am a sucker for wood and stone and pale golden fibres on floors, big windows and I did learn something new about how light responds to wall treatments. I would have liked to own this book if it had included a few everyday interiors and not just big, solid buildings and rooms of pleasing dimensions with expensive and beautiful wall and floors coverings and wonderful windows seemingly already in place as a backdrop to each section.

This is not a guide to creating beautiful spaces but a reflection on the authors philosophy of homes and space. Not a minimalist look, nor a mass market item to be seen. Rather it is an appreciation of second hand, old, mixing and matching but do people really live in these rooms? It’s lovely to cast your eye on these locations which are photographed to be sensual and moody. The light just so.

This is a really awesome book in terms of designing your home to be a home, not following the boring monochrome culture or perfectly curated designed Pinterest boards.
Interesting and thoughtful and will have you hopefully inspired to decorate as you want and not on trend.
