Mastering ArcGIS Pro introduces the basic ideas behind GIS, teaching the concepts and skills needed to enter this rapidly evolving industry or use GIS in your current discipline. Based on the widely used ArcGIS software developed by Esri, Inc., this text integrates learning fundamental concepts with practicing software skills and is suitable for classroom use or for professionals studying independently.
This class has finally released its grip on me, I just have a paper to finish but I am free of this textbook and the GIS software. When my advisor gave me only one class this term I thought she was being dramatic but no, it was hell, especially in the beginning. On the first day of the course, I knew I was going to be so bad at this and begged her to let me drop the class but I wasn't allowed to. Then I had to deal with the worst eight weeks of my personal life this year and this course on top of that. My teacher was also a godsend and didn't mark any of my late work as late, so I'd be down a letter grade without his kindness haha.
On the topic of this textbook specifically, there was a lot of good information in here on the program from the course itself and the assignments. This textbook had an issue that many have, and that is when they start randomly talking about a complex topic that they don't explain until 20+ pages later. I didn't think that the layout of the content was bad, surprisingly (I've found that the ones I've read have almost all had this issue at least a bit). I just wish when they introduced a new concept that relates to the computer program that they'd at least define it or tell the reader at all what it does the first time they bring it up. Overall, it was slightly helpful but I'd rather have my $75 back because it was only mandatory for one assignment, which of course wasn't expressed before I bought it, and I could find more clear guides on YouTube or Reddit for free.
