Colyer manages to make the enthralling experience of reading TF Torrance rather dry and boring. While this book is helpful for understanding some of the more nuanced aspects of Torrance's thought, it dulls far in comparison to the liveliness of Torrance's work.

There will be several types of people who may be interested in this book. Those who plan to study T. F. Torrance and those who have already read/studied him, or started reading/study his work. Among these there will be theologians, counter-theologians, students, clergy (some), interested lay-people, and those who are just curious. In other words, anyone who is interested in learning more about T.F.Torrance, his writings and their background "may" be interested in this book.

The book is basically just what it says it is, a book about the works of T. F. Torrance. The first "chapter" is a mini-biography of T.F.Torrance and the volume uses this as a first step to build on. The attempt is to use each chapter as a building block that leads into the next .It covers his (Torrance's) approach to the study of theology and view of the the Bible. The central topic would (could) probably be said to be Torrance's view of theological study as one whole.

The only problem with the book is that before being far into it (I was) you will be more interested in getting into Torrance's own writing than the detailed study of what Professor Colyer has to say. I was still waiting for the T.F.Torrance books I'd sent for to come in through inter-library loan. After the prep, I'm now eager to get these.
