About the author

Julian Hardyman is Senior Pastor of Eden Baptist Church in Cambridge. His enthusiasms include walking in the Cambridgeshire Fens, listening to opera and eating strong cheese. In his daydreams he beats his contemporaries at squash, serves as a local councillor and services his own car. But these are only dreams. He is married to Debbie and they have three children; Robin, Fiona and Kitty.

I have read a fair amount on this topic over the years. If you are well acquainted with the biblical theme of idolatry, then this book probably isn’t the book for you. If you have never considered how everyone struggles today with idols, then this book may prove super helpful. There are a lot of pop culture references in this volume which are a bit dated now but don’t let that deter you. On a personal note, the author is British and I enjoyed the British-isms throughout the book which affectionately reminded me of our 15 years in England. If you live outside the UK you probably want to get the Kindle version as I don’t think it ever hit the US book market.
