Ray Catania: Metaphysical Theorist, Master Certified Life Coach & Award-Winning Author.
"Scientific Spirituality for the Modern Human"
In addition to being an author, Ray Catania is a naturally gifted intuitive and a developing medium, who also teaches spirituality and metaphysics with clients in his private practice. He is an NDE survivor, an ordained minister, with master certifications in life coaching, Usui Reiki, and meditation, and is working towards his doctorate degree in Metaphysical Parapsychology. In addition to his formal training experiences, Ray has also had the privilege of studying under, and training with, some of the greatest forward-thinking minds in the world, including Intuitives, Mediums, Shaman, and Energy Healers.
“You Are Still Alive, Now Act Like It: Empower, Elevate, and Enlighten Your Consciousness,” is the second book in Ray Catania’s Awakening Series. It follows, “The Atheist and the Afterlife – an Autobiography.” Continuing his studies, the author is also now a metaphysical teacher and coach. In “You are Still Alive, Now Act Like It,” Catania continues to share his personal experiences while discussing his thoughts on metaphysical and scientific principles. He seamlessly blends the concepts together and presents them in a way that readers will be able to understand. As with his first book, his life experiences are fascinating!
Catania is an interesting character whose spirit resonates with me. Strong language, an imperfect past, and the willingness to defend his home from non-spiritual living entities (i.e. bad guys), might seem scary or offensive to some individuals, but for me, I find him totally relatable and refreshing. He keeps it real, and I am happy to recommend his books to my friends who are on the fence about what they sometimes call this “woo woo” stuff. If anyone can help them understand, it is he!
While I felt motivated to read this book in one sitting, I did not allow myself to do that, because I wanted more time to journal and process what I was learning. I looked forward to reading before I slept, so that I notice the deeper meanings that were coming in from my dreams. It is amazing how generous the universe is in sending us what we need when we open up and are receptive to learning.
“The Atheist and the Afterlife,” had a huge impact on my life. It helped snap me out of the spiritual desert where I felt I was stuck. I am so happy to have had the opportunity to read “You Are Still Alive, Now Act Like It: Empower, Elevate, and Enlighten Your Consciousness,”. Once again, the timing was perfect for me. In addition to gaining insight into the spiritual concepts, I also feel motivated in continuing to do more exploration so that I can make a deeper connection with the universal consciousness while I am still in this physical form. Now is the best time to do the work!
"You are still alive, Now act like it" is a great title for this immersion into mind-consciousness, parapsychology and clairvoyance, but I tried to come up with an alternate. "Average Joe's Guide to Awareness, the Metaphysical, and the Intuitive" has its applications, as does "The Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama) meets Dr. Phil, who in turn meets Breaking Bad's Walter White." The book is a series of admonitions, aphorisms, and anecdotes from a guy who is in the process of working out his own life, warts and all, and sharing his perceptions with the reader. It's a dense book, chock full of lessons, and it's worth a look.
Author Ray Catania gives the reader an out at the beginning, by offering, "Take what is useful and meaningful to you from this book and leave the rest behind." Catania adopts a religious tone without really embracing a religion, which is logical, considering that this book is a followup to his first, entitled "The Atheist and the Afterlife." Catania avers that all religions embrace a philosophy similar to "You are part of God and God is part of you." It's my perception that the religion he mirrors most closely is Buddhism, especially when he starts out with "first, you must suffer" and "trauma will always offer you a lesson, regardless of how terrible it is." These notions approximate the first Noble Truth of Buddhists, that all of life is suffering. Mr. Catania has experienced a good bit of suffering - he nearly drowned, his father had a traumatic Navy experience, his business failed after 9/11, he split with his wife, he attended rehab. Indeed, he has some expertise on the subject of suffering.
Let's look at a few of his aphorisms:
- Are you a diamond or a rock? A diamond, to Catania, is a nearly finished, highly refined product, whereas a rock is in some stage of development.
-Don't let someone else's thoughts become your reality. Perception IS reality. If you change perception, you actually change truth.
-Ordinary people can create miracles. Many actions that we accmplish these days would have been considered impossible in the past.
"You are still alive, Now act like it" is no light read. It is roughly hewn, much like, it seems, is its author. I'm sure there's something in it for you.
As a memoir, the book is a beautiful journey through the different aspects of life that may have led to thought provoking changes in the author's thinking and way of life. But if I see it as a guide then it falls short. I see a lot of bias towards certain topics. Also what may have worked for him not necessarily works for everyone and that subjectivity is missing. Although he does try the take what relates to you but without the whole picture presented it is kind of difficult to make that choice. Also the basis of mediation and manifestation depicted are very basic and nothing new ir different to what I have come across so far. But that doesn't take away that there is indeed some thought provoking content and read it as a memoir rather than a guide. One of my favourites - Never let someone else’s thoughts become your reality.
You Are Still Alive, Now Act Like It by Ray Catania is a memoir that chronicles the author's transformative journey from atheism to spirituality. Catania shares his personal experiences, blending metaphysical and scientific principles to offer readers insights into elevating their consciousness and manifesting desired outcomes. He explores themes such as ascension, higher consciousness, and the laws of attainment, presenting them in a relatable way. Catania's candid recounting of his life, combined with his formal and informal studies, provides a mix of practical advice and spiritual exploration.
Reading You Are Still Alive, Now Act Like It was a fascinating experience, as Ray Catania's journey from atheism to spirituality is compelling and thought-provoking. His personal anecdotes and the insights he shares are genuinely inspiring, encouraging self-reflection and a deeper understanding of spiritual concepts. However, I found the book to fall short when viewed as a guide for spiritual practices.
Catania's bias towards certain topics and the lack of objectivity in presenting various spiritual concepts were noticeable. The book often suggests that his experiences and methods are universally applicable, which can be misleading. What worked for Catania might not necessarily work for everyone, and this lack of acknowledgment of individual differences is a significant shortcoming.
The sections on meditation and manifestation, while earnest, felt basic and repetitive compared to other works I've encountered. The subjectivity in his approach made it challenging to apply his teachings without the whole picture being presented.
Despite these critiques, the memoir has its merits. Catania's writing is honest and often humorous, making his story relatable and accessible. One of my favorite takeaways was his reminder to "never let someone else's thoughts become your reality." It's a powerful message about personal agency in the spiritual journey. For those who enjoy memoirs and personal stories of transformation, this book offers valuable insights and inspiration. However, if you're looking for a thorough guide to spiritual practices, you might find it lacking in depth and diversity.

"You Are Still Alive, Now Act Like It" by Ray Catania
As someone deeply interested in metaphysics and personal transformation, I found Ray Catania's "You Are Still Alive, Now Act Like It" to be a compelling read. Catania's journey, as outlined in his previous work "The Atheist and The Afterlife," continues here with further explorations into consciousness, spirituality, and the universal laws.
I appreciate his candidness and willingness to share his personal experiences, which make the metaphysical concepts more relatable and less abstract. The book's structure, breaking down topics like the mind, awareness, and energy into clear definitions and chapters, is helpful. Catania's emphasis on practical application and encouraging readers to "take what is useful and meaningful" resonates with me.
The "Content Warning" at the beginning should be noted; this book delves into serious topics like assault, abuse, and suicide, which may be triggering for some. Overall, "You Are Still Alive, Now Act Like It" is a valuable addition for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of consciousness and personal growth.
I’ve studied and written about the dark space between science and religion for years. I finally read one of the most compelling and elucidating personal stories of how the experience of a real human being casts light into these dark corridors. In a book titled You’re Still Alive, Now Act Like It, Ray Catania takes you on an exciting ride and it’s damned hard to get off.
I hate to the use the cliché, “it’s a page turner, but it is! Ray’s lightening mind, facility as a story teller, and lively prose bring lucidity to phenomena that most of us consider off limits.
If you’re sensitive to the raw language of deeply honest expression, hold on, it’s going to be an unforgettable experience as you accompany Ray on his journey of exploration and experience his profound personal insights.

This is journey of life takes a person from being an atheist to one affiliated to spirituality. In this scientific and practical era, nobody thinks of spirituality. They just think that sitting idle at some place closing their eyes is a waste of time. But it is not. This is just an example I have set. This book author has set out many scenarios on how a human can achieve that confidence and peace of mind with just spirituality. There's little biased perception the author has set up in this book, but it is acceptable when you read such books. If you just read this book and put it aside, it doesn't help you. There are some exercises that you need to do. There are some practices you need to start in order to lead a better life. Recommended for persons who need some peace of mind in their life.
This was a very interesting read, and definitely an eye-opener. "You Are Still Alive, Now Act Like It". The title of this book alone is enough to make an impact, and while I was reading it, I found that it impacted me, in a positive way. I found that I was thinking about a lot of things, and there were moments when I stopped to re-read a sentence, or even a whole paragraph, to let it sink in, and allow myself to feel the benefits. I enjoyed the anecdotes, and I felt the author talked to the reader in a very relatable way.
I think this book could be very useful, in terms of changing your mindset, if that is what you feel you need. So I would say to anyone, read this book, and look again at the title.
Ties together science and spirituality in a fun read
I came across Ray on a podcast and was drawn to his life story. This book did not disappoint and now I have to go read the first one. I’m excited to use the techniques that changed this man’s life (I had already been using some unknowingly) because I’m at that lonely stage of spiritual awakening. The universe is calling me, and this is one book it placed on my path for me.
This book is well paced and has the right amount of action and advice. You can tell Ray went through some stuff before finding his way and then moving on to help others.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is experiencing an awakening or someone looking to develop their own intuition further.
Book was good...the book is a beautiful if you say it from the author's way. The basic points the author show was brilliant..But that doesn't take away that there is indeed some thought provoking...
There were many quotes I genuinely love with it...
