Henry Juarbe, a graduate student with a steady job and an apparently bright future, does not fit the description of a criminal. In Different, however, nothing is as it seems. Henry’s life changes after he meets Paula, an intriguing beauty with a dangerous past, and Diff, a master criminal who leads him into a life of revenge, violence, and murder. Unaware of the consequences of his partnership with Diff, Henry finds himself unable to leave a life of crime that becomes increasingly risky as well as a threat to his relationship with Paula. Javier Ávila’s celebrated novel was made into the movie Miente. Its ingenious and action-packed plot delivers an intimate meditation on alienation, vengeance, and insanity. Like the book, Miente is a riveting psychological thriller set in Puerto Rico about a man who grapples with his own sanity.
I liked the pacing, the characters, some quotes, how it was sort of a journal. What I didn't like, however was the plot twist. I have seen it before, but in films. Other than that, i enjoyed this book.
