I am a direct descendent of Ralph Waldo Emerson. My great-great grandmother was full blooded Cherokee. I have desired all my life to write. It comes natural and quickly. My desire is to help others to see the importance of their lives. I am what I am, simply your sister, but what it's important is that my love for you is enormous.
We each have gifts, we each have a purpose for why we have embodied. I know mine but it is my desire to awaken you to know yours. I cannot tell you who you are spiritually but I can see the beauty of your higher self.
Be the Change was a gift from the author Morning Dove as the result of my entry into a GoodReads giveaway. A letter from the author as well as a bookmark accompanied the hardcover copy of the book. A sandy beach in a tropical paradise adorn the cover with a dove, a cross, and an eagle. The dove represents the spiritual, the cross signifies religion and the eagle symbolizes humanity. I was hooked on the book before I read the first page.
I have spent two months reading the book, by choice. I have marked over two dozen passages that personally touched me and could have easily marked more. I didn't read this book like a novel. I needed to spend time with it.
Morning Dove echos the spiritual wisdom of authors such as Eckhart Tolle, Marianne Williamson, and Leo Buscaglia. Her lessons mirror those of Anthony de Mello, James Redfield, and Sara Ban Breathnach. I have pulled my copy of The Impersonal Life off the book-shelf and need to revisit A Course in Miracles.
The first chapters of Be the Change lay a spiritual foundation. These concepts underlie the journey toward accomplishing a divine plan. The latter chapters demonstrate how to build on that foundation of principles. Morning Dove compares spiritual growth to a jigsaw puzzle. One can achieve growth or complete a puzzle in any way or order but if you put the outer edges of the puzzle together first, a foundation is provided for progress.
The author compared our struggles in life to rocks impeding the flow of a stream. We sometimes get stuck in life's obstacles and our lives spin in eddies as the waters of a stream.
Be the Change is a book about gratitude, abundance, and joy. It discusses karma, balance, and free will. Not only does Morning Dove suggest that we need to love others unconditionally but we also need to love ourselves.
The author shares a wonderful story by Sancheeta that relates to how our experiences lead to growth even though we stumble along the way. If something isn't working in our life, why do we keep repeating the same mistakes? I will leave the experience of reading Sancheeta's story to your reading of the book.
Morning Dove suggests that not only are we on a personal journey towards spiritual growth but that our world is on a path towards a spiritual awakening. We are on what she refers to as a "Universal Path to Oneness". As we allow God's purposes and expectations to flow through us, we are given the opportunity to Be the Change.
I won a hardcover copy of "Be The Change" by Morning Dove from First Reads @ Goodreads. Having already started a couple of books, I decided to put this one aside until I could devote my full time to it.
This is not a book that you can read continually from front to back. It has too much to absorb and think about, so it takes time to appreciate all it holds. I'm sure it will have a different meaning to each individual that reads it as Morning Dove says we all have a different take on the same words.
God had a plan for each of us before we were even formed in our mother's womb. We are spiritual beings in a human form. We were given "FREE WILL" unlike any other of His creation. The levels at which we understand His plan for our lives will vary from time to time, but the seeds, weeds and needs of this journey on earth can be a joyous experience when you walk in the same direction as He on this journey!
I'll keep this book and when I am discouraged, I'll take it down and read how God wants me to LIVE and enjoy this life on earth! Thank you Morning Dove for putting all this on paper and being a disciple of Christ! God Bless You my friend!!
I usually dont read books like this but this one had my interest . I just finished the book this morning and its a very deep book that will make you think about things in your life.
There was many sections I highlighted that just grabbed my attention and really stuck with me while reading this book. It made me question some of things I was doign wrong, as a parent, wife and as a friend.
Morning Dove did a excellent job on this book and now my mom is reading it .
Thank you for allowing me to read your book Morning Dove it was brilliant, insightful, and I learned things about myself while reading this book.
If you need someone to talk with you personally and get you to take the steps to improve your life drastically, this is the book for you! Morning Dove's writing makes it appear to be writing to the individual reader! Quite talented and so much helpful information!
I won this book from Goodreads. When it arrived, I appreciated the personalised touch the author had enclosed with the book, but I was disappointed to discover the book was not what I had expected. It took me until recently to finally pick it up and read as I knew I would need a lot of time committed to it to get through it.
Unfortunately I have not been able to continue reading it, and definitely won't continue in the future. Firstly, the way the actual book is published, with so much bolded and italicized text, I found it hard to read smoothly.
Secondly, as a Christian, I don't agree with anything the author has written. I would have been happy to read the book and see what she had to say, even though I didn't agree, but the way she wrote, it was quite hard to follow (as well as grammatical and spelling errors - a pet peeve of mine in published books) and there wasn't anything at all that I could agree with, to keep me interested and ignore anything that I didn't find was 'for me'.
The author has made assumptions about what the church teaches about God. As I said, I didn't read the whole book (I didn't read much, in fact), but here are a couple of things I picked up on:
(from pg 2) "God's love is unconditional and that means there is nothing you can possibly do to loose [author's spelling] God's love... Have you live all your life on eggshells because although you have heard of unconditional love, you have been taught that God's love is given when you meet certain conditions? Has this been reinforced by ... teachings in church?" I have grown up in the Church and this has never been taught to me. We are taught that God's love IS unconditional and that no matter what we do or don't do, it will not change how much He loves us. I skimmed through some more of the chapter, but nothing really grabbed me, so I went to the next chapter to see if that would be better.
Unfortunately I was disappointed within the first page of the next chapter:
(pg 17) "Keep in mind that understanding some of what was written many years ago in the Bible could take on a new view in today's world. The message has more to understand than what was revealed so long ago. God is about always becoming more and so the Bible, as written so long ago, has hidden messages that can now come forth because God knows people are ready for a higher understanding." What a statement. According to the Bible that the author in fact believes in herself (even though a misconstrued belief), God is unchanging (James 1:17 - "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."). Therefore, she is incorrect in writing that "God is about always becoming more" and if God doesn't change, then certainly His word does not either. The same message that was written many years ago, is the same message for us today.
After reading that, I then skimmed over the rest of the book and in particular, the other chapters and still did not find anything I could agree with in anyway.
I once again, acknowledge that I have not read this book in its entirety, so may not have a full picture of the author and her intentions, but from what I have read, I don't believe I'll find much in there to agree with.
I recently won this book through the giveaways from Goodreads, and was personaly autograghed by the author. This certainly is not a book that I would have bought, or even read, had it not been for the free giveaway contest. Now that I have I must say it certainly is a different kind of book to what I am used to. First, it is not a book that can be read as a novel. Like the Bible, it can't be read all at once. I found reading a few pages a day was the best way. Plus that gave the reader a few hours to think about what was read. Secondly, The author's use of bold and capitalized text was a bit much in my opinion. It felt as though the author was either shouting at you or trying to make you feel that their ideas were the only ideas in the world that was right. A bit overpowering. Overall, the book is full of good ideas which certainly make the reader stop and think. I certainly would recommend it to someone who is having doubts about their spiritual life, but personally I found it a bit hard to read.
This was a goodread sweeps win for me. I found many parts of the book very confusing for some reason. I have concerns about reincarnation being related to so many different ideas e.g., especially where believing in God comes in. I do feel karma does really exist, but am unable to relate this to very many happenings in real life. I also feel that God is to help everyone, even those who fail to see helping themselves in positive ways, as we are all children of God. God is our salvation, and our salvation is our gift for believing in God. I believe that God has a special place for all of us once we are finished on this earth. My belief in God has not been wavered by reading this Morning Dove book. The cover of this book relates much peace to me, with the cross, softness and white of the sand, pretty flowers, birds flying and the heavenly blue skies above. This really helped put me in a very peaceful frame of mind when I picked up this book at different times to read.
I was sent this book free from Good Reads, First Reads and it arrived very quickly with a lovely note from the Author.
The book was very easy to read and very clear in its objective which was to encourage readers to believe in and ultimately develop a faith in God.
It was very encouraging and interesting.
I have to say that I did not neccesarily agree with all that she said, but her arguments were well written and well founded.
It was the type of book you could pick up and put down without having to re-read the last few pages.
I feel that this book would be invaluable as a first start for anyone who was wondering what was the purpose of life or who was feeling unsettled with life.
I won this book from First Reads. The book arrived at the perfect time in my life. After being unemployed for two years and no job in sight, I was losing my faith. I needed to read this. The only problem is trying to read it. I find the constant bold type to be distracting and it seemed like nobody proofread this book. There were a lot of words that were used the wrong way and some punctuation missing. I'm trying to read it now and it is normally not the usual genre I read, but I was curious about the message. That's why I entered. Thank you for sending me this book.
Thank you to all who where involved in my winning this book Be the Change. I found it to be a very inspirational book. One review I read said its not a book you can read all the way through and I agree with that, but picking it up a little each day was a great way to read it. All great lessons (I call them lessons) to learn from the book and common sense things and why didn't I ever think of that lessons too! I loved the cover of the book. I am going to pass the book around. But I will keep the book mark!.....: ) Thanks Morning Dove!
I won this book through Goodreads. I am sure this is a fine book for a Christian, or for someone who has experienced a failure of faith. I must state that I am Wiccan, and thought this book would be more about spirituality than Christianity from the description. What I read was purposeful Christian dogma, with continuous references to the Christian bible and tenents. Although there were some references to more worldly theories, I felt they were only used to promote Christianity not spirituality. I appreciate the authors' effort to share such a personal point of view.
Morning Dove did a wonderful job with BE The Change. The writing style was enjoyable. It help gives or open your eyes to different situations in life no matter what you may be going through. I also liked reading the different issues of the lives of others and the reading the message behind it and advice. I would recommend to reading to others. I did in fact received something out of reading BE The Change, it has definitely opened my heart even more and trust in the Lord completely.
I love it great book seem like easy to read but leaves great after toughs in the mind make me think about my own journey in this life. it helps me to comprehend myself. I do recommend it... thank you
