The Wives of Prophet Muhammad

Rate this book
Within this book is a wealth of captivating information about the distinguished wives of the Prophet (may Allah be pleased with them). Their lives are represented through vivid stories encompassing their lineage, history, and marriages to the Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him). From their hardships to their triumphs, their lives were filled with honesty, sincerity, and devotion to Allah. Their lives exemplify an ideal for which Muslims may strive. Each wife is honoured as an individual, with her life and her love of the Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) directing her story.

The author has compiled the statements of several scholars on this topic and added to this her own impassioned arguments, with which she dispels criticism by orientalists of the Prophet’s practice of polygyny. From a historical perspective, his life, along with those of his wives, authenticates his mission. His practice of polygyny, when investigated, reveals a deep wisdom behind his marriages that supported his efforts of teaching and spreading Islam.

There is availabe, however, a new and completely revised 2nd edition which reorganizes the material to make it easy to read while drawing out the most inspiring aspects of the lives of the honourable wives of the Prophet Muhammad.

This is a compilation of brief biographies on all of the Prophet's Wives (peace be upon them).

There is a chapter dedicated to each wife that begins with lineage and follows on with regards to their lives/marriage(s) prior to marrying Muhammad (Peace be upon him), their roles as his wives and finally, their deaths. I think this arrangement is perfect for anyone who wishes to memorise the facts, as they're all there in chronological order under titled sections. It's not quite as in-depth as I'd hoped but still very informative.

This was an introduction to the wives of the Prophet PBUH. Each chapter was about a different wife, her qualities and her contribution, trials and successes as part of the Companions of the Prophet PBUH. It was a good intro, not too detailed and certainly provides a foundation for further exploration and research into this topic.

I've been anticipating this for so long, finally had the chance to pick it up last night and I seriously cannot stop reading.

This is the perfect introductory book to know about the women who heavily contributed to the growth of our deen. Women who were wives, supporters, defenders and builders of our nation. May Allah be pleased with them and give us the ability to learn from them.

This book is a non-fiction book. But, I recommend you all to read Great Women Of Islam because it's more to a historical fiction book even though it's a non-fiction book. So, you might enjoy reading GWOI.

🌸 Here is a compilation of biographies for each of our Mother of Believers. It is presented in chronological order with every chapter is dedicated to each wife. But when i say biographies, please don’t imagine it as a painfully dull, dry and soulless recitation of facts. On the contrary, their stories are recounted captivatingly. These exceptional women by all means were very real women, not without faults, yet selfless, full of determination to contribute to Muslim society, devoted towards Rasulullah and dedicated to be in service to Allah SWT.

🌸 Their marriages to the Prophet SAW has always become the topic of criticism to some hostile writers. Many Muslims (read :Me) never really argue about His Polygyny practices because i/we know that He was an exemplary and a noble prophet whom Allah sent as a guide to humankind. However, malicious writer use His matrimonial affairs to tarnish his reputation by accusing him to be motivated solely by lust and selfishness.

🌸 Hence this book serves to shed the light in understanding the circumstances that lead to each of the marriages as well as their wisdoms and virtues. Through this book we’ll learn that each of the marriages were for none but honourable reasons Masha Allah. It’s our duty as a Muslim to learn about this knowledge and spread it for the sake of upholding the teaching of Islam and defending our Prophet SAW should it be deemed necessary.

A short introduction of wives of the Prophet. While Muslim don't really question it, this topic always under attack by Western Orientalist. The author managed to tackle this issue using both logic and revelation argument (aqli and naqli). As a Muslim it is our responsibility to know Sirah and the reasoning between each action so we can defend our Prophet if the need arise.
