A woman too afraid to commit. A man too hurt to love again. A passion that refuses to be denied. Sophie Redmond knew betrayal, she knew mistrust. She knew everything that was wrong with the world, until Damon Watson charmed his way into her life. The rules she used to shield her heart were broken one by one, as Damon showed her compassion and kindness. When no one else believes in her, he shows her hope. But is hope ever enough?
Damon knew trouble when he saw it. He was the sheriff. He could spot it a mile away and Sophie was trouble with a capital T. What was it about this City Slicker doctor that made him want to forget everything but those whiskey brown eyes and that honey blonde hair spilled against his naked chest. Can Damon put the past behind him and choose to love again? Reader Alert!: Sophie thought sex was a game that could be controlled with rules, but add a playboy who knew every trick in the book, and she couldn't help but throw her rule book away. Caution! Sophie and Damon tend to sizzle on the page as much as they do in bed, so take care to stock up on the ice!
To My Readers: This has been a very emotional story to write. It started out as being a story about Sophie and her journey into discovering herself but I wanted to dig deeper and ask what if she never had the love of her mother? My mum is half way across the world and when I am sad I miss her terribly. The interesting thing is we never got on growing up, because I was daddy's girl but now she's my mum. It's amazing how you appreciate your parents after you become one. So I thought about Sophie's journey and gave her many tests along the way. But it is Damon who is that sexy alpha hero that makes it all possible. I like a sexy alpha hero. I believe we all need them in our lives.
Kamy was born in South Africa. As a child she amused herself with her nose stuck in a book, and it wasn't long before she went from reading stories to writing them. With a love for anything from fairy tales, folk lore, and Greek mythology, she would often stare at the mountains looking for sprites and fairies. English was her favorite subject, and she’d recite Shakespeare and Browning because, why not. She moved to New Zealand with her family and followed her dreams soaking up as much knowledge as she could about the writing world. The day she became a finalist in her first contest was the day she realized people wanted to read her stories. But life never always works out the way you planned. Due to personal reasons, she stepped back from writing for a few years. In that time, she moved to Australia and worked in the Outback. After doing some awesome things like driving from one end of Queensland to the other. Alone. She has now settled down with her two camp dogs and is working on her craft, and learning new things. Excellent, hot read alert ladies! This book was incredibly well written and full of life and passion. The characters of Sophie and Damon were simply marvellous!
The story revolved around deliciously sinful sexy Damon, a man that has sworn to never love again after being terribly hurt, but at the same time he is the ultimate hero, strong, commanding and ready for action when someone is in danger.
Sophie was definitely a heroine of the nicest kind, strong yet at the same time vulnerable enough for me as reader to know that she needs a man to get her through the worst of her fears.
I loved how the author brought her characters to life with vivid descriptions and for me it was as if the words on the pages took on a life of their own, making it all seem very real.
The author incorporated a series of danger filled events and twists here and there that made interesting turns in the saving the damsel in distress story world and this in turn let the scenes pop out at me, almost as if shouting "Hey reader, the best is yet to come keep reading". And let me tell you I did, as I could not get enough.
I loved, loved, loved how the author brought into play the "other woman" so to speak and no ladies you will not be disappointed by this, you will only like I myself was, be even more intrigued.
The passion in this fabulous read was hot, hot, hot !! I mean who of us does not love a sexy "bad boy sheriff" getting down and dirty with a" lost" woman. I know I do and this author made sure to captivate and deliver on each and every page!
I could also as reader tell that this author really thought about what she was penning down, the level of emotion was so deep and meaningful it left me in awe.
This was a compelling sexy, smart, action filled read and I highly recommend it. However if your planning on doing just a little bit of reading before bed I will advise against selecting this book as you will not, and I repeat not be able to stop and will end up reading way into the early morning hours.
I really look forward to the next read from a author who will surely make it big!
When Dr. Sophie Redmond meets Sheriff Damon Watson sexual attraction explodes. Sophie is working in a small town hospital away from the controversy and betrayal of her past. Sophie is not ready for anything romantic in her life but keeping her mistrust at the fore front...Damon is about the rip down those walls.
Damon is the sheriff with his eye for Sophie. He is the perpetual playboy and he’s set his sights on the hot new doctor. The problem being, the more Damon knows Sophie, the more his carefully constructed barriers around his heart start to crumble.
Both Damon and Sophie must put their pasts behind them or they will never learn to love again.
Falling Into Paradise is an extremely steamy erotic read. The passion between Damon and Sophie defies all sensibilities. Kamy Chetty creates an extremely vivid and fascinating story about healing hearts and unbridled passion.
This copy of Falling into Paradise was given to me by the author in exchange for a honest review.
Don't miss Kamy Chetty's Virtual Book Tour hosted by Tome Tender on February 18, 2013.
Falling into Paradise was a fantastic book full of romance and emotion. A lovely read that will have you crying, smiling, and laughing.
Sophie was a tough character. She's been through a lot throughout her life and yet she still stands strong. She was a lovely heroine but, at one point, I got just a bit annoyed with her. Toward the end Sophie still doesn't trust Damon to be true to her. Even though her gave her absolutely no reason to believe otherwise and did so much for her, she still didn't trust him. I get that she had some serious trust issue, but, come on. After everything that he's done, how could she not trust him? It was a bit of a bother. But, otherwise, I really liked Sophie. She was a wonderful lead.
Damon was everything that is awesome He was so sweet and strong and clever and so nice. It was very easy to fall for him. At the beginning, our first impression of him is as a very hot player but it doesn't take long for us to see how much for there is to him than that.
Sophie and Damon were very cute together. Other than my frustration with Sophie's trust issue, I thought they were a sweet couple. And they are VERY hot in the bedroom. There was definitely quite a bit of spice in their relationship.
The plot of the book was stead. Towards the end, it stalled for a little, but it wasn't anything major. I was kept interested through the entire book. And the ending was so sweet and perfect.
Falling into Paradise is a wonderful book that I would definitely recommend to romance lovers.
*I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
A love story cum thriller. Don’t know which I liked better, the love story or the thriller. The hero, Damon, is fascinating. He’s the sheriff and he’s slept with practically every woman in town. Dr Sophie Redmond, the heroine, is a very cold woman who keeps her distance with everyone ;but we learn why as the story progresses. There’s a very good reason for that.
The love scenes are meltingly hot. If that’s what you like, you’ll love this book. But the mystery and fascination with the characters are what drew me in. Damon, quite surprisingly in my opinion, melts her reserve. When Sophie gets arrested in the course of her investigation as to why someone has framed her in a medical negligence case, she and Damon give a whole new meaning to Jailhouse Rock. Meaning they make the jail rock. When Sophie gets released on bail into Damon’s custody – a beautiful woman and he the town stud – I have to admit I did find it a little difficult to suspend my disbelief. Apparent inconsistencies in the plot are explained when it subsequently transpires that they have more than one enemy.
It’s both a hot erotic read and a thriller but there is a definite human story behind this. You could sense that the author really cared about the characters and she drew them well.
The one error that kept showing up was the use of ‘mum’ not ‘mom.’ In the UK it’s always mum, in the USA it’s always ‘mom’. Nothing a good editor couldn’t fix.
Whether you’re looking for hot or looking for thrills, this one will hit the spot.
A fast paced thrilling love story rolled into a tight ball of intrigue keeps the pages turning in this quick read... that along with the physical intense scenes between Sheriff Damon and Dr Sophie which are hot enough to power the national grid!
Damon is Paradise Falls Sheriff and he knows everyone in town; including all the females very intimately, but he's a lovable character; he's a man who knows what he wants and he's not afraid to go after it.. and he's a man in uniform so that's a bonus. Sophie is new to town but it's not long before her past is chasing her and her present is challenged.
I liked Sophie's dating rules and how she related them back to her life and it was humorous when she was exasperated that she kept breaking them because Damon was slowly breaking down her defenses but really, how could he not; man in uniform and all (ok, so I like men in uniforms).
Once I started Falling Into Paradise I couldn't put it down, it was a fab mystery mixed in with Damon and Sophie wasting no time to explore each other. Falling into Paradise gets straight into it, no mucking about and not a page is wasted on unnecessary detail. I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for Kamy Chetty's future books and I really hope this is the beginning of a series with the background setting of Paradise Falls.
Highly recommended if you're looking for something quick and packed with action to keep the pages continuously flicking!
Shut up and buy it! If you had to ask one word to describe this book it would be PARADISE! This book was first a thriller and second, a romance. Well, maybe not maybe both! I thoroughly enjoyed every single page. The main characters Sophie Redmond, a Doctor and Damon Watson, the sheriff, were very well described. Their dialogue gave the impression that one was in charge the entire time. Damon was not used to rejection or being told no. Sophie was used to being in charge and giving the orders. Somehow this worked well and flowed into a sizzling book. Damon was not the kind to show compassion to anyone, yet he did towards Sophie and turned out to be the only one to believe in her. Sophie came to Paradise to get away from a bad upbringing, a horrible Mother, horrible Step-dad and a medical investigation. Before you know it the walls are crumbling and for Sophie her only savior is the sheriff Damon. It gets very scary for Sophie as she discovers what a mess her Mother has created of her life. I totally recommend this for all of my readers. It is so good even the men will love it!
Pediatrician Sophie Redmond is new in town. The small town’s only sheriff Damon Watson is the one to investigate her when she is accused of murder, yet again. The more they find out about each other, their attraction for each other builds. Both have been burned before and are not particularly interested in a relationship. The story follows these two as they dabble in love while the murders unfold.
One of the first things that struck me about this book is my Great Movie Rule. My Great Movie Rule goes something like this: If within the first 5 minutes or within a movie’s opening scene, someone is killed or has sex, then the movie will be a great movie. I don’t know why, but it seems to work in movies. In the first chapter of this book, there is a death. The second chapter followed with sex. It was at that point, I wondered about my Great Movie Rule and whether or not it can be applied to books. The book did start out strong. However, I am not willing to create any rules based upon one book. Books are more intimate than movies. Scenes do not have the same feel in books they do in movies. So, for books, I am not sure if this really works. It did make me wonder though and it’s worth noting for the future.
I just loved the mystery. I am a fool for mysteries. The murder, kidnapping, and romance were all engaging elements. The romance was rough, rocky, and passionate – like real relationships often are. Character development was good. And, believe it or not, somewhere, I have a post about the lengths I went through to taste some of my own Aunt Betty’s apple pie. (I really need to get my own writing up here on this site.) So, this little detail, of course I loved.
There were some other details which could have been clearer with another round of editing. The timing was off. How long do water samples take? Two or three days or a month? The incident with the stepfather occurred before graduation and yet the family was estranged for only the prior year? A practicing pediatrician would have had her graduation from medical school at least 5-6 years ago. She has her residency and specialization after graduation. We do not know which graduation, really. The undergraduate and high school graduations would have been years before. It was implied that this was the high school graduation. Yet, the estrangement was only a year ago? There’s also the 48-year old woman giving birth? There’s another plot problem I cannot disclose without ruining the ending. It’s not that these things could not have occurred. I do tend to give a lot of leeway to writers. This is their world they are sharing after all. I just wondered if the author realized these conflicting facts and felt these parts needed to be explained further. I also was not sure of the setting. The story seemed to be taking place in the southern part of the USA, yet words like “bloke” found their way into dialogue, which by the way was hard to follow at times. Another round of revision and this would have been beautifully polished.
The ending was good, although a little bit of a cop-out (forgive the pun). Although Sophie’s investigating did get annoying, there were differing points of view that could have been utilized here. I can’t say much more than that without ruining the book.
It’s definitely worth reading. If you like a good mystery, you’ll like this one. Due to the erotic nature of some content, I would recommend this book for mature audiences only.
Falling Into Paradise seemed like a nice contemporary romance. I am always up for reading a romance and I love seeing two completely different people falling for each other while working through all the obstacles thrown their way. Falling Into Paradise looked like it had all the elements which could make it a great read but sadly, it failed to deliver.
Sophie Redmond is a doctor who has moved into town to escape her past. She is too afraid to commit to anything or anybody because of her horrible past. After facing too much betrayal in her life its like she mistrusts every single person she comes across. I just could not get into Sophie's head. Just the way she was made it hard for me to actually like her. As the story progresses we do get to know all of her reasons but I failed to sympathize with her.
Then we have Damon. He is the town Sheriff who acts like anything but it. He is shown of as a player who seems to have slept with more than half the women in town. When he meets Sophie all he wants to do is get her in bed and that's what he does. While both of them agree to have a no strings attached relationship they start getting to know each other. Damon was shown as something else while he came off as something else.
I did not see the point of Sophie and Damon getting together. The romance got over too fast for me. The story focuses more on the mystery of the little boy's death which Sophie and Damon solve together. Just as things started getting a little bit interesting the story moves on to Sophie's past and her family. I thought there were too many things going on at once and it was all just unnecessary. Again when Sophie and Damon came together in the end it felt forced to me.
The writing style seemed nice to me. Though in the beginning Sophie and Damon's banter seemed a bit broken and didn't flow smoothly. I liked Damon's family and some parts of the book were salvable. I would have enjoyed the book more if there was more to Sophie and Damon's characters I guess. There was just too much talk and no action there for me. Falling Into Paradise was an average read.
Falling into Paradise is a hot read that keeps you riveted with its plot twists and brilliant story line. Having read the original edition almost 9 years ago, I still felt such a range of emotions this time round. I laughed with the banter between the characters, I was teary eyed, sometimes on edge with the action, and even breathless with those steamy scenes. Author Kamy Chetty gives us passion, crime and medical drama all in one package. I fell in love with Sophie Redmond our female protagonist. Her tough and guarded exterior is just an illusion to hide the beautiful ER Doctor’s vulnerable, and lonely heart. Having experienced any medical practitioner’s worse nightmare, feeling responsible for a child’s death, Sophie’s attempt to hide away from her past in the City came crashing back in small town Paradise Falls in a split second. She was once again embroiled in the death of a child among a multitude of other things. Local Sheriff Damon Watson, the Town’s sizzling playboy who is undeniably attracted to Sophie has his own share of pain. Having had his heart broken by a woman he truly loved, he is the Town’s Lothario. In his pursuit to prove Sophie’s innocence, he finds his own life dragged into the painful past with lots of twists and unexpected turns. The author keeps you enthralled, and as a reader, you will be caught up in the danger and excitement and fascinating storyline unfolding in the pages before you. Lets not forget the steamy scenes between the sheets, as Damon and Sophie break through each others well guarded hearts. It’s a very emotional journey for Sophie, and the contrast between both her and Damon’s family and upbringing really tugs at your heartstrings. Exciting storyline, well written, its very difficult to not feel a connection with the characters. You are emotionally invested from beginning to end and I’m sure you will thoroughly enjoy reading this book.
Falling Into Paradise by: Kemy Chetty 9781603108201
Sophie Redmond is warm and loving but hurt by her past – hurt by people who should know better, and others who would use her to their own ends. Damon Watson has never had a deep relationship. This small town sheriff is known as the Romeo of Paradise Falls. He gives her a speeding ticket their first day in town, and she remembers all her rules about men when he faces her again. Those rules came about after a career breakdown, and the memories of her less than idyllic childhood, but Damon's bent on getting as close to her as he can. Secrets from the past rule her their heads, but not their hearts. What begins as an erotic romance quickly morphs into a fascinating, breathtaking romantic suspense. Mistakes of the past no longer rule Sophie and Damon as they realize what is most important to them. Kemy Chetty turns up the heat in this novel right at the beginning, yet this book is more than two people attracted to each other. The reader will be able to relate to the humanness of Damon and Sophie. They will feel the pain of each of these star-crossed lovers as they fight to overcome their pasts and move forward with their futures. Chetty draws out the ache of losing a precious child, and how it brings these two adults closer and closer. Every moment is fraught with danger, and even injured Sophie manages to push herself past the pain of all rejections to see the future – even if means she has to be alone. Damon's surprise will have everyone sighing with romantic happiness. There are moments of "I never saw that coming" followed by "oh, she didn't." But the one thing I know about Falling Into Paradise. It's a page turner I want to return to many times in the future.

I signed up for this tour not knowing what to expect from this book and I was so glad that I did because I really liked this book. It was a deeply emotional story with a mix of angst, suspense, heartache, passion and love.
Sophie had such a chip on her shoulder because of her past and you really don't blame her. I would too have a steal armor with that family and past. Then she meets Damon *swoon* who could charm just about anyone.
Right away I liked their chemistry with banter and sexual tension but I felt a bit robbed with the evolution of them. It was "I liked you... No I'm an island stay away.....Boom they are under the sheets" (that was all my own inner dialogue. ) I thought that was a bit too quick but the growth of the emotional relationship was beautiful.
They both had their own baggage and were treading uncharted waters but together they seemed to figure it out and create a community and family where they both least expected it. This community was brought together by the tragedy that Sophie, Damon and the town had to face. At times I was like "Jesus, enough what more can one individual take" but that is what made Sophie such a strong emotional character.
I loved Sophie and Damon and I really liked this book.
AMAZING 4.5 Stars!!!! This is an absolutely beautiful, sexy, believable love story <3
Falling into paradise had me falling in love with a couple who denied every bit of it. A beautiful read that will have you crying, smiling, and wondering what can possibly happen next? Full of suspense never a dull moment with Sophie and Damon.
The story is revolved around a sexy strong Sophie a woman who had been thru hell and back and a sinful bad boy sherif Damon a man who had swore to never love again being hurt from a past romance. These two were never meant to be but "falling into the sexy arms of red hot danger" never looked so good.
“It's okay to want me. I want you too.” “But it's dangerous.” “It's only dangerous if it gets to be more than wanting.”
I loved how the author brought her characters to life. Each page took me to what they saw, what they felt and that to me made it feel so very real. The author brought romance, suspense and passion oh did this book had passion slipping thru every page.
This was a compelling sexy, smart, action filled read and I highly recommend it. However if your planning on doing just a little bit of reading before bed I will advise against selecting this book as you will not, and I repeat not be able to stop and will end up reading way into the early morning hours.
Well first off all let me just say that the cover is gorgeous! I love it! Could it get any hotter?
On the second note, the book itself could have been better. The author's plot line is very interesting at first and would be very unique if she stuck with it. But three different stories going at once is distracting if not done well. The characters fell flat for me because I wasn't given enough time to 'bond' with them. We are hurried along through everything that happens. With all that being said... the sex was sizzling and there was a lot of it. She definitely knows how to steam up the windows, so to speak.
The summary the author has given is a little misleading, since the actual story isn't quite like that. The book was very long and took a long time to get through because I was not able to invest myself in the characters.
I think that the book would benefit from a thorough editing of non-essential scenes and building up the characterization. It could be a winner, but she just didn't follow through.
