I was given this to read and to give my honest review!!!
Wow, of book 1 was good, books 2 is AMAZING. The story continues as we follow our 6 characters as their stories continue to unravel and the war continues. We start to learn more about each of them, which in turn makes you love them more. The way Luna has written these characters, made me look forward to knowing them more, I found I was rooting for each one and falling in love with the characters, especially caen, he is my personal favourite. We start to get more answers from book 1, but then they're replaced with more mysteries. The story was gripping, I was feeling all the emotions, loving the blossoming relationship between characters, to the anger of others. The was this book is written, I was feeling joy one minute, anger and tears the next. The storyline of gripping, full of politics and magic, it was a page turner from the start, not once did I feel it was slow, I was hooked, the need to know more is strong.
And then when we finally think we are getting answers, bamn more mystery arrives, the ending of the book, loved it. I need book 3 immediately!!!!
Isles and Intrigue was a pretty good sequel to Swords and Seers. We get to know the characters more and this time, some major plot happens (that I’m not getting into for spoiler reasons). I quite enjoy the pacing of this series as well, it’s much slower than my usual reads, which I get some people might not like, but in this case, it gives us more time to get to know the characters and watch their relationships develop. Which brings me to the next point: the relationships. Four of our POV characters are set up as couples with each other and while I absolutely adore Finola and Comrith, I sadly cannot say the same about Elarin and Soren. While Soren is in a very difficult position, he does treat Elarin like shit quite often and the whole “it’s for appearances” apologies just don’t do it for me, especially as he kinda lets her get tortured and only later steps in once he actually sees it happen. “Well, he thinks she betrayed him”. Yeah, well, he’s the one actually betraying her trust, and after everything that happened to both of them because of each other and their whole dynamic, I simply cannot root for this couple. Sorry not sorry. Finola and Comrith, on the other hand, are just adorable and I love how they learn together, both what it means to actually have healthy relationships (romantic or otherwise) and how to communicate with each other better and give the other person what they actually need. There were some incredibly sweet scenes with the two of them. I also loved reading Olilra’s chapters and hope she gets some more confidence soon and finds the strength to stand up for herself, even to her mother. Also, I need her to figure out she’s a lesbian soon, because this slow-burn wit Nialah (favorite character by the way) is killing me. Caen is the most interesting character by far and yet I cannot say a single thing about him without spoilers, so just know that I love him and he deserves better. I also have a growing list of side characters that I hope will get killed off during the series (trust me, they deserve it) and only got my wish once so far. But this proves that the books are well written as I really hate some of them. All in all a good sequel and I’m excited for the next book.
Really liked how she put in a recap of book one, it really helped to refresh my mind as it had already been a long while since I had read the first. Like before I really enjoyed reading all the different perspectives and how now they’re becoming more apparent in their connection to one another, I loved that feeling of mystery of wondering what’s coming next. I love trying to pick out all the different links as if I’m finding Easter eggs within a game! I loved the continued character development and Olilra is continuing to be my favourite character with Finola and Comrith being my fave character interactions 😜 I loved how certain characters have dark pasts and you’re just sat there like *I am shooketh*. I found the spicy scenes to be perfectly placed and very tasteful, the passion of them was so good. I did like how there was more magic in this too and that it was spelt properly with a ‘k’. The belief system as well of the two different religions , I could see which religions inspired them both which was really nice almost making it feel relatable at times. Overall I enjoyed the book, I finished it in two days it was a very fun read.
I admit fantasy is not my usual genre but this book I could not put down! So huge credit to Luna Daye for getting me hooked!
I loved that it recapped book 1 and so much has started to be answered from book 1 (but also so many more questions!) I got so excited reading some pages I had to go back and reread them 🤣. I have laughed and cried, and felt the urgency and discomfort of the characters. I don’t want to give any spoilers away but romances are blossoming and the anger I feel towards some characters is very real. Not to mention dragons and sirens!
I cannot wait for book 3 and to hear more secrets revealed.
Just wow. I can’t wait to see where this series goes. Isles and INTRIGUE indeed because this book has left me wanting MORE! I loved every bit of it. It had everything you could ask for. We do not appreciate Miscommunication trope, however just pure gold when things get cleared up. I love the different POVs and loveeeee that there is starting to build paths being crossed. I feel the first book really set up well on the character and world building for this book. And Comrith 🥹🥹 if YKYK my gods I love him 🧸 That ending has got me wanting more and I can’t WAIT for the next book to be released 😍
Isles and Intrigue is the epic sequel to Swords and Seers, full of mystery, betrayal, and characters coming into their own. The character development in this book is amazing, and I found myself squealing towards the end and cheering them on as they conquered their obstacles. Daye's writing has always been immersive and beautiful, but it especially shines in this book. The way the plotlines are all woven together is brilliant, and it makes me want to reread both books and underline all the clues that I missed before. I'm very much looking forward to the next one.
