Closure and the Law of Relationship: Endings as New Beginnings

Rate this book
Through the myriad forms of relationships we experience over the course of a lifetime, we have the opportunity to learn about ourselves-to see how each relationship, no matter how challenging or difficult or joyful, causes us to change, to grow, and even to discover unknown inner strengths. In Closure and the Law of Endings as New Beginnings, lifestyle and relationship expert Lissa Coffey show us how the Law of Relationship works to our benefit to help us improve our lives. "The universe teaches us that relationships don't end," Coffey says. "We remain connected to the people in our lives through our memories and shared experiences. Coming to terms with the changes in our relationships is what will bring us closure." With real-life examples, Transformation Applications, and Wisdom Affirmations throughout, Coffey has created a practical, spiritual guide that offers a five-step process to help us achieve a sought-for peace of mind and greater Self-realization. "Eastern philosophy teaches us that change is inevitable, and yet suffering is not. In her insightful new book, "Closure," Lissa Coffey shows us how to learn and grow as we move through the evolution of our relationships. Highly recommended." -Deepak Chopra Author of The Ultimate Happiness Prescription "Who among us hasn't been devastated by the loss of a relationship - whether through separation, divorce, or death? Most of the time, we can't see beyond the present moment and mistakenly believe that life could never be as good without that other person in our daily lives. By the end of the journey through Lissa Coffey's book, Closure, we come to realize that we will be better for having loved, and life will be even sweeter when we start to live it again!" In general, I found the premeses in this book helpful. The main one seems to be that relationships don't actually end, but change. That's an interesting way to frame it, but for all practical purposes, it doesn't really stop the pain since the person's "changed" status in your life is not being in it. Oh well. I don't really see myself in the stages of closure. It changes from day to day, hour to hour, and isn't really a stepped process, from my experience, but it's good to have states of mind to relate to. As a Christian, the book really didn't do it for me since it is kind of mystical -we are all God type of thing. I did feel a bit better after reading it, so will probably keep it around for a while. Also, there's a lot about divorce and death, but not much about friendship breakups or family rifts. It would have been nice to read more and varied stories.

I bought this intending it to be a gift, but forgot to pack it for when I saw that person. Now I'm reading it and am really enjoying it. It really has been not what I expected. So far I have only been reading the advice for relationships and have not reached the closure part. I was expecting the book to delve right in to "closure", therefore so far I think the title is misleading. Possibly the title should have had more focus on "The Law of Relationship" with "closure" as part of the subtitle? Also, a "relationship" usually has connotations with a romance, but it is important to remember any human who is a regular part of your life is also a "relationship".

I bought this book when some of my "relationships" need an end. Instead of feeling sorrow and hanging on to a dying relationship, the author introduces us to simply let it go and move on. This is the rational decision which everyone will suggest you. But what make this book unique and helpful is that the author guides us how to change our "inside" and the world around you. This is the first and basic thing to follow when you need some change. Thanks Lissa!!!

This book was a very comforting and inspirational read. It takes the reader step by step in getting closure with just about any relationship one may have gone through or currently going through in their life journey so far. Finding that peace and having closure on a situation is such a good feeling and a weight lifted off of the shoulders.

Very insightful and interesting read.

I really enjoyed this book and appreciated the author's stories and her sincerity in what she was writing. I read it in one sitting, and was inspired to be grateful for all that I have learned and there is healing in letting go and being grateful even in loss.
