Lida Larrimore Turner Thomas was born in Girdletree, on the eastern shore of Maryland, where her father Henry Clay Turner was a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Miss Larrimore's writing career began with a play she created out of necessity.

Her only juvenile novel, "The Blossoming of Patricia-the-Less," came in 1924. Tarpaper Palace, her first novel, was published in 1928. On February 27, 1931, Lida Larrimore "Larry" Turner married a widower, Charles Thomas of Tredyffrin Township, Maryland. They had two daughters.

Lida wrote seventeen novels in less than twenty-five years. Her work has been compared to Grace Livingston Hill.

4.5🌟 So good!! After reading three Lida Larrimore books, this one is definitely my favorite so far. From the very first page, I was totally engrossed in the story of this young married couple—Nancy and Brad Yorke.

Here are just a few reasons why I LOVED this novel:

❊ House set up (from glamour to rustic)
❊ Lovely details of clothing and fashion
❊ Domestic details galore
❊ Very likeable husband
❊ Slightly unlikable wife (but with the added satisfaction of seeing her mature and "grow up" emotionally)
❊ Glamorous parties balanced by everyday chores and hard work

Lida Larrimore is quickly becoming one of my favorite vintage romance novel writers! I have many more books in my collection to read...I can't wait!

Many thanks to my friend, Andrea (@sorrythankyou79 on Instagram) for recommending this book to me! It was an awesome buddy read and I can't wait to chat with her about it!
