This "Lonely Planet" guide shares knowledge and provides recommendations on various travel topics (including honeymoon planning 💕). Some of these we had already discovered on our own, but I did learn some fun facts and useful advice to keep in mind. Looking forward to our next adventure!
I've read a whole bunch of travel books and this book is one of the best. For first time travellers, particularly those going it alone, this book gives great hints and tips as to how to get the most out of your trip. Some of the tips are no brainers but some are actually really good and pretty smart.
"Best ever" travel reviews is definitely eye-catching.
Does it delivery what it says on the tin? Perhaps if you're not a seasoned traveler. But for those who have put in some miles on different continents, this is perhaps a reaffirmation of some of our practices more than it is picking up anything new.
Still and all, it's the student mindset that led me to grab it from a used book sale and it might be something worth gifting to a high schooler or college student just setting out on travel adventures.
Four stars: I really was charmed by LP's latest edition of its Best Ever Travel Tips. Tom Hall and some true tourism mavens provide excellent advice on quite an array of topics. It often confirms my own experience, but also provides a few things to mull about scheduling and upgrades. It's definitely a great gift to give to a novice traveler or one of those Tabitha Twitchit types.
This is a great little book with some interesting travel tips. Unfortunately it is quite dated. No mention of Airbnb or other such services. I haven’t looked at any of the recommended websites so I’m am unsure if there are still around. Still a few good nuggets.
This barely counts as part of my books for the year, but it was on my shelf, and I'm in a rut, so what can we do. This book is definitely a tad outdated and really caters to people who've never traveled. I didn't particularly find any helpful or new tips but it might be useful for others.
This is okay for first time travelers and as a refresher if you haven’t travelled in a long time. It’s got a very Western perspective to traveling though which is a little disappointing.
A book about travel tips. It is handy in size, and very pocket friendly. Quick snack read on the plane. More tips for people who travel longer and further than a typical traveler. Found some useful information, that might come in handy in the future.
Short book with small lists about travel tips. Divided into topics (eco friendly, where to stay, safety etc.) nothing new if you have ever read a travel book in your life
Overall its a decent concise guide which covers some things not in your typical travel lists. I have issue with a few of the tips, in that I don't think they cover enough detail (Visa's), or in times a bit outdated (travel money - seriously traveler's cheques?). I did pick up a few new things, even as a seasoned traveller (bundling as a packing tip!) and learned something (Post restante!). The back of the books with the tip guide, plug guide and other travel details are handy references.
A fair guide on helping you become a better, and more efficient traveller. A light, easy read.
I strongly believe the majority of the positive reviews this little book has received are staged.
If you are a frequent traveler, this is a total waste. You may find one valuable comment, maybe two, amid the 100 abbreviated pages of material. This might be a suitable thing to pick up for your high school graduate who you are allowing to travel for the first time. That's it.
Tiny book full of great tips. A must read for travellers exploring new places - even for seasoned travellers it's bound to have a few new insights or at least provide a checklist for your trip preparation.
Most of this book is full of things seasons travelers will already know. That being said it provides a good review of the basics in helpful bullets and has a few sensible but off the wall novel suggestions too.
This is a quick and uncomplicated book that gives you some great ideas and suggestions. I'd use it as a sign posting tool to make sure you're as prepped as you can be before your trip.
This isn't a bad book but the tips weren't very helpful to me. I came away with only a few that I thought were worth my time or that I didn't know. Perhaps, for other travelers, it would be more useful. Still, its written well enough and organized well.
Not that much new information, but pretty interesting anyway. Very easy read! It had some good links to websites that I'm definitely going to check out.
This is a very short collection of travel tips from the staff of Lonely Planet. The ideas range from packing advice (bundle around a core object) to how to meet the locals.
