I thought this was going to be a well researched book about the tragic life of Vicky Morgan... What is was, was drivel. The author was sympathetic to Vicki, probably because he was sleeping with her and had to justify his bad behavior. I knew about the story vaguely and thought this book would give me some insight into the characters and their motivations. Maybe there was some redeeming quality I was unaware of. Nope. Admitting he was with her when his wife went into labor? Are we supposed to care about him or Vicki as two of the dozens of people in the book who were selfish, self serving pricks? Pathetic woman who lead a depraved life and, with the exception of being murdered, got everything she deserved. The writing was sophomoric with 20 cent words thrown in to make you believe he was an accomplished novelist. Quotes and conversations recorded as fact from third parties. Poorly written book about people that deserve no notice. The only person in this entire story that deserves any sympathy is her poor son. Do Not Bother!

Tragic story of a lost girl

I expected a better insight as to the life of such a beauty and understand exactly what went wrong with her. So much talent, so much beauty, all gone to waste. What I got was more of the story of the romance and tumultuous relationship between the writer and Vicky, it felt like a desperate attempt from Gordon to justify himself for being unfaithful to his wife and make himself look as another human being with lots of flaws but nevertheless a great human being. Nah! He is not a monster, but not only he was a cheater but also another willing sex participant to Vicky's ultimate destruction. I am a woman who had rough beginnings and many man used me knowing I was vulnerable but I was very lucky to find real male and female friends who helped me out of what for sure would have been a vicious and destructive cycle. I am sorry Vicky did not get the opportunity to know real friends and build healthy relationships.

I quickly found myself not liking Vicki. She was an impressionable youth when she met Bloomingdale, however she did nothing to preserve her dignity or care for her son in the many years she could have. She never tried to make her own money, get a job, or move away from bad influences. All she wanted was money. I am not saying she deserved her fate, but her lifestyle was such that a dramatic ending was inevitable. She blamed everyone else but herself.
The author is mostly sympathetic to her due to the affair he was having. So much for impartiality.

I must admit I found this book difficult to read. I gave it two stars only because I found the story interesting but I have never read a book with so many selfish terrible people in it. I found the main character lazy and shallow, would it be so difficult for her to get a job? It's hard for me to feel empathy for anyone in this book other than her poor forgotten son. Even the author made me sick!

This book is written by a creep pervert! I just wanted more info on Vicki but this gross man was just another sicko exploiting her up until the day she got murdered. 5 stars for Vicki, 0 stars for Gordon.

A respectful,if not fully objective, treatment of a tragic life. Like an aging athlete, Vicki had no alternate plan on how to live her life once the glamour fizzled. She was left permanently at sea.

Interesting story. Poorly executed. Focused on author and his affair with Morgan moreso than the murder.

So hard time follow

There was so much repetition in this story. Same things repeated over and over. Other things brought up out of order of the story, as if we should know what it is about, only to have it cleared up much later when the story got to the part of that person or event being in the picture. If this was an attempt to make Vicki relatable or likable, it failed miserably. It was almost laughable when the author revealed the two had fallen in love, and he a married man with a very pregnant wife! Putting it on paper for the whole world to read, including his wife and child.

Interesting story but poorly written

Tragic story about Vicki Morgan. She has a story very similar to Anna Nicole ( teenage pregnancy, hectic upbringing, beautiful young naive girl with daddy issues). Life in the fast lane would be a better title.
On the downside, the sentence structure is very poor. A lot of incorrect grammar and punctuation made it difficult to read at times. I would not have thought he was a professional writer. It was a poor proofreading job by the publisher.
I would recommend.

Fantastic!!!!!

I have read a ton of biographies and memoirs I have never in my life read anything like this. Vicky Morgan's life is so unbelievable you have to read it to see what I mean everything about this book is so incredibly interesting one of the very best books I've ever read.

Weaving a Web of Self-Destruction

A beautiful woman from the wrong side of the tracks uses her body to survive. She uses powerful men and they use her. Author became involved with subject. Book is filled with examples of bad judgement. Nothing new.

Rich Mans lady

It was a little hard to read from the beginning. But it came èàsy to read. I would advise ànyone to read it that didn't know the life of how à rich celebrity lived. I was surprised by some of the things I read àbout.

Interesting hypothesis.

This book painstakingly details the last year of a troubled soul. The writer is masterful and keenly aware of the psychology of addiction. Vicky Morgan's life story is a testament to the inherent danger of the consequences of denial.

She didn't really tell the author too much..all she talked about was Alfreds perverted life. I think she was into something far worse.

Fascinating Read

I had never heard of her, but what a life! Written with honesty and heard it was a page turner.

This book was just a waste of my time. I only read 20% but I was totally disgusted. And why did the author find it necessary to involve himself in the story?

Was interested in reading this book after it was mentioned in the Bloomingdale/Morgan episode of the podcast “Swindled”. A lot of times the book felt less about Vicki Morgan’s life, and more so being a masturbatory “hero” piece about Basichis. Ultimately kind of lame and written from a very misogynistic perspective.

Great writing...

Great writing...

The author was very thorough....left nothing dangling....I feel he was courageous, writing with so much honesty although he was so involved in the story. Through his writing, I felt I knew all the characters well. With his words he drew great pictures....never "skimping" on his words. I shall be in search of more of his writing...(by the way this review is by Wanda Henry..not JS)

The trashiest of trash. A weird concoction that appeared to be veering into that so-bad-it's-good sweet spot only to take a giant leap over that zone and fall directly into the bowels of the absolutely awful. Avoid.

The fact that this is a true story is amazing. I have a mixed opinion - some of it is pretty distasteful - I don't want to be a "spoiler" so I won't say much more than I felt that the author took advantage of a seriously fragile and emotionally distraught woman - and I have no respect for him.

A lot of missing info......pics......and flawed by the authorhor's relationship with the subject. Not well done & too bad because it could have been an interesting story.

Couldn't take the tortured prose and the focus of the story on the author's interactions with Morgan while writing. Sometimes that approach works; here it doesn't.

Just another story

Not as interesting as I expected. Actually more of a pat on the author's back by himself. Do not recommend
