What else can you say about a Voinov, Marquesate collaboration other than "Hot Damn this stuff is hawt!"

Photobucket

This is a short story involving Hoot and Sanderson(no giggling over Hoot's name please *winks* he is a serious guy) and Sanderson. Two alpha Delta soldiers just back from a mission that went bad and end up blowing off a bit of steam together. Sanderson is straight which always adds to the raunchy sense of the forbidden for me. Hoot *giggles* (can't help it, sorry) is not so straight and rather kinky too.

This is typical of the authors collaboration style, especially if you have read the cult series Special Forces. The sex borders on porn while still managing to incorporate an erotic sensuality and depth that has you breathing deep and living the moment(as much as you can anyway; could be awkward). There is something so naughty and forbidden about reading these scenes. It's delicious and decadent and makes me feel like a very naughty voyeur.

Thanks again for the fab freebie Aleks!
Word of warning:Read it on your own and don't get caught...it's uhm...awkward ;)

I wasn't expecting to enjoy this fic as much as I did. I went into it thinking it would just be some hot sex and a nice filler read. But I found myself still thinking about it when I woke up the morning after reading it.

Yes, the sex here is very hot. And kinky. There's D/s, and a good dose of humiliation and pain kink. Hoot and Sanderson don't hold anything back when they go at each other.

description

But this isn't romance, this is just one night between two weary comrades in arms. Maybe it's the start of something, or maybe nothing will come of it and it'll just be a fond memory to look back on.

And what strikes me about that is this: how many thousands of lonely and dispirited soldiers have turned to each other for comfort for a few moments, and then gone their separate ways?

I'm probably just being a romantic fool, but it's still an interesting thought.

Anyway, this fic is very well written, and incredibly sexy. Recommended if you're looking for a quick and free read!

Short bit of Fanfic left me simmering. Not exactly cold but not quite enough to boil.
I found it well written and entertaining, but I struggled with bits of it. Could be the movie characters the story portrayed didn't fit with what was in my head. If I imagined them as anonymous soldiers I would have enjoyed it more.
All and all-not a bad way to spend a lunch hour, will seek out another short story to keep me going while waiting for my next SF fix.

A direct reaction to watching "Black Hawk Down" and written in between writing "Special Forces". Sometimes things like these come out to "clean out the pipes" - finger exercises.

In short, a swift and visceral smut-fest trip into the realm of real-life fan fiction.

The long version of my opinion is that this is an intense glimpse into the psyche of two rather different soldiers. Their coping mechanisms, their perspectives, and a cattle-prod reminder that those men in uniform are not robots, not mindless killing machines, but humans. Who find occasion to remind each of the other's humanity. Comrades grounding one another, when nothing else can.

I love it. The selflessness each shows for his fellow soldier, when truly the only bond bridging the gap between them is solidarity, fraternity, and compassion. There is no romance, no love and a conventional romance would define it.
The awkward moments made me grin. And Sanderson's discomfort, as if Hoot had pulled the rug out from beneath him in more ways than one. But he went with it, thinking on his feet, demonstrating the dynamic problem-solving skills one would expect of a Delta. I enjoyed reading his POV.
The character of his counterpart, however, remains shrouded to the reader. Under-developed, aloof, and the stilted moments are (though few) unfortunate. It left me wishing for more.

I liked this one:D
One - I almost literary inhale fanfictions of my favourite movies/series
Two – holy damn, how much did I miss this style of writing!
Three – even though I myself can´t fully appreciate all the sex scene´s perks (and don´t get me wrong, these are really perks I´m just built differently in that way) I still can´t imagine the scene to be written better:)
Four – I´ll be damned, one more military themed story which is not full of rainbows and ponies but as hard as it is (hehe, literaly).
Five – always got to love small details. I loved the appearance of hand-sign there:DDD
Even though this fanfic is not long by any means, it still holds something deeper in it, somehow you know it doesn´t end where the last page of this story is, theres more. There are hints, there is that something that didn´t want to let me sleep the same way some of the books didn´t (and thats meant as a good thing).
And by the way I noticed Marquesate herself said she´d rather not keep the fanfic published. Well I´m genuinely glad it´s still there when I got to it.:)

So this is the source of inspiration behind the Special Forces character Hubert 'Hooch' Bozic.
I recognize a lot about Hoot that I didn't like about Hooch either, mainly his masochism.

I also have a problem with the issue of 'Well, I have a lover, but I just fucked you anyway' theme. One would think Special Forces had cured me of that, but it still bugs me. Not to mention the unprotected sex involved.

Still, as a fanfic, this is really great.

It's been ages since I saw 'Black Hawk Down'! This little "side story made me pull out the dusty dvd :)
I enjoyed reading through the fast pace; it fits perfectly with the 'quick release' theme. But don't worry, there is enough background to the story and characters, so you don't have to watch the movie in order to appreciate it.

It always makes me happy to read about tough guys blowing some steam off and Mr. Voinov is brilliant in executing this, either in a short fan fic or in a full blown "saga".

Favorite Quotes:
He knew he’d lose his mind tonight, but the ‘Sir’ sobered him, and increased the tension. How could Hoot make it sound part insult part...sexy?
(pg 6, Sanderson)

Nothing but small sounds from his throat, Hoot closed his eyes: impossible for a man like him. Yet he did. Utter trust and passivity, needing to take not give, to be made to feel, to get rid of that goddamned tension that was eating him up from inside. Bottled up, stashed away, and only the right amount of violence and lust could unleash it.
(pg 7, Hoot)

This was in short a very great short story.

The selflessness between them, comforting each other in different ways. Though it may not and probably will not ever turn into anything.

We don't really learn much about the characters in depth, especially Hoot. But all in all the authors does a great job with it.

well, I DO really like Voinov's writing, was a fun and good read, but nothing more - I won't come back and read this again and again and again.
And sorry Aleks, Hoot and Sanderson are my favourites, I don't want them gay, so that's why only the 3 stars!

Black Hawk Down is one of my most favorite war movies.
Somalia has been confusion. Soldiers take a brief rest. Sanderson is cool.

A short rather intense novella. This one is a free fan-fic of "Black Hawk Down". It be downloaded from Aleksandr's website (right HERE). I haven't seen the movie or read the book and I"m not sure which of those this one is based of. I guess it doesn't really matter :)

Hoot and Sanderson are on the same Delta team from what I gather, Sanderson having the higher rank. The scene between them takes place after a mission went wrong and Hoot retrieved two bodies of their comrades. They are both wrecked from the inside over it all yet as good soldiers they keep it inside. Sanderson keeps thinking he is glad that Hoot came back but even those words don't come out.

Hoot planed on drinking himself into full drunkenness, Sanderson sitting by his side doesn't really work for him but when Sanderson suggests they head to his house he complies.

This is not a Romance novel, it's two guys (one gay, the other wasn't really) that need to lay off steam and aggression, yet even when it was punishing it was obvious that's what the other man needed.

There wasn't a lot to the novel besides the sex (only a little background or thoughts before/during) yet it somehow delivered more about friendship and hardship.

The last time I've read Aleksandr and Marquesate together was "Special Forces" which is an EPIC MM Romance I'll probably find myself thinking of forever. It was nice having a book by both of them. This month I have 2 spin offs to Special Forces (though they didn't wrote these together).

This was a very good read, where the characters were so worn by events beyond their control that they operated on that automatic setting where everything seems just a bit surreal. Nothing that mattered was named in words. Communication happened through actions and by reading the body language of a man that was part of the unit, was there, had seen it, and *knew*. The action was hot in a bittersweet kind of way. I'd love to see them together again, once they emerge from the fog of constant debriefings and the fallout that came on the tail of the Mogadishu engagement.

Intense in a good way. Two soldiers needing contact but not being able to find it with anyone who was not "there". They serve their country without hesitation and are dam good at what they do. But there is an emotional toll. Each unselfishly gives the other what he needs. There is tenderness in their rough contact. Beautifully told while being hot and kinky. I want to see them again. I would like to know more about Hoot and his other lover. If I do not meet them again in another story I will still be glad I met them in this one.

It's just a fluffy piece of fan fic, which I would have never kept published, but alas, Vashtan decided to keep it out there. I'd rather not.
