Rate this book
Psychometrics refers to all those aspects of psychology that are concerned with psychological testing, such as tests used by, for example, occupational psychologists dealing with selection and career development, by clinical psychologists to aid diagnosis and monitor treatment and by educational psychologists to help investigate the poor progress of a pupil. Paul Kline's latest book provides a concise introduction to the basics of psychometrics. The central chapters of the book describe the nature of scientific measurament, the way psychometric tests are constructed and illustrate intelligence, aptitude and other psychological tests. Written in a transparent style by a leading author with a lifetime of experience in the field, students of psychometric will find this book essential reading.

A rigorous, conceptual primer that may be a bit too keen on the details but not examples. Still,I appreciate how this primer doesn't treat its readers as clueless beginners.

Helpful to understand both the construction and data analyzing parts of any survey research.
