Gideon turns my innards to goo and I ain't mad at it.

5/14-Gideon still makes my heart ache. I'm still completely jealous of Anwyn. Daegan is still the cat's pajamas.

If Ms. Hill wants to tell more of this story in the future I would not be mad about that. She keeps referring to Anwyn as a “sorceress”; I’ll tell you who the sorceress around here is-it’s Joey freakin’ Hill! I could not put these down and can definitively say I’ll read them again. Needless to say it’s an action packed, dramatic conclusion full of heart wrenching emotion and Ms. Hill’s characteristic mystical examination of life issues. There’s a line in the book that goes something like ‘it’s as complicated and as simple as that’. That sums up her writing style. There’s all the extraneous kaka to wade through for everyone but when all’s said and done it’s really a simple truth that’s likely common to us all. She illustrates that quality exceptionally well in this trinity of Gideon, Anwyn and Daegan.

They are forced to Berlin to the Vampire Gathering… not good, not good at all. Notorious vampire hunter at a vampire meeting-no bueno. Naturally, the vampires have plans within plans that you need a magic decoder ring to decipher. All 3 are tested in some way, shape, form or fashion and all are barreling toward the inevitable ultimatum. This story is choc full of action. At one point I thought, ‘damn, these 3 just canNOT catch a break!’ Seriously, when it rains it pours.

We get more background on Daegan and Anwyn. Daegan is a bad ass, even amongst the vampires. We also discover that he too has been a lost and lonely soul for a very, very long time. Gideon is forced to face some uncomfortable truths about himself. Anwyn is struggling to find her balance in a new vampire world. Lord Brian and Debra play sort of an instrumental role in this one; I find myself increasingly intrigued by their relationship through the brief snippets that we've gotten over the course of the series. I wonder if they'll eventually get their own book. At any rate, in a nutshell it was fantastic! I've come to expect little else from Ms. Hill.

Holy.Smokes. *thud* If vanilla is your flavor of choice for reading material, go find some vanilla....CUZ THIS AIN'T IT!!!! This is like rocky road/cappucino swirl/moose tracks blizzard with whipped cream and a freakin' cherry on top!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heartbreaking and heartwrenching are what comes to mind when I think about Gideon and the conclusion to his story. What an awesome read. The emotional and physical suffering was so overwhelming. The constant conflict within Gideon's mind just blew me away. His battle of the feelings that both Daegan and Anwynn stir in him are constant. I mean, here is a man that has never belonged to much of anything or answered to anyone in his adult life, seeking comfort and praise from not one but two vampires. His devotion and loyalty to them are amazing considering that for the past 10 years he has been a vampire hunter! I was so glad to see that his sense of humor never faltered. He was truely a selfless servant.

Anwynn. Anwynnnnnnnnnnn. I can only describe her human self as an incomplete puzzle. As a vampire, she completes that puzzle---because I believe she was born to be the powerful vampire mistress that she easily portrays. She was at her best when she was within the safety of Gideon and Daegan's arms and when she was a Domme. For her to let Gideon go, tore her to pieces.

Daegan!!!!!! Holy hotness on a stick, batman!!!!!! What a great character! He is deadly, mysterious, and sexy as hell. He knew what he wanted from Gideon and made sure he got it! His handling of the council on behalf of Anwynn and Gideon were so honorable. Even when both he and Anwynn had to show the council how devoted Gideon was, he never gave any other heir than that of a dominating Master. I believe that scene was one of the MOST brutal of the BDSM moments in the entire series.

I'm glad that Gideon's story came full circle. It was very touching to see him with his brother at the end and to know that he was at peace with himself and his acceptance of the vital role he plays within the trinity. *SIGH*

Favorite Quote: “Shouldn’t you be putting on make-up and curling your hair, doing girly stuff?”

“I consider doing you girly stuff.”

Vampire Trinity is the sequel to Vampire Mistress (Vampire Queen #5) , and these two books must be read in order to get the full impact of everything that is going on in the story, although they can be read separate from the other four books in this series.

Anwyn is the owner of the BDSM club Atlantis, although recently she has been learning about a new venture in her life – being a vampire. Turned against her will in Vampire Mistress by a Schizophrenic vampire, she now not only battles blood lust and the new sensations that come along with having fangs, but the vampire that turned her also left his diseased mind inside of her. Anwyn battles manic rages, coming on out of the blue, and debilitating her every day lifestyle.

However, she is not alone in this battle. While her long time vampire lover, Daegen is out of town visiting the vampire council, her more recent lover, and vampire hunter, Gideon is there to serve all her needs. And in Anwyn’s BDSM lifestyle, a servant is definitely what Gideon is. On the outside he may not love heeding to her every beck and call, but deep down they both know he needs this type of lifestyle. He carries her three marks, allowing each of them to venture into each other’s minds, and communicating through thought. They have a very intimate, yet extremely complicated relationship.

The council is not going to let Anwyn exist for much longer before she is presented before them. But she first must get her violent episodes under control. She pines for Daegan to return home so she can have both her men full time in her life. But as volatile as vampires are, they soon learn deceit has led a member of the council astray, and it is going to take the three of them working together to come away whole.

I was so excited to get my hands on Vampire Trinity!! I read Vampire Mistress a few months ago and was blown away by this complex and erotic vampire world Joey W. Hill has set up. There is so much that goes into each of these characters, I can’t give them justice in this review. Anwyn is a dominant female, that has lost all control now as a vampire. Taking those baby steps to regain who she is, she knows she needs both Daegan and Gideon in her life. Daegan wants to be there, although he is very dominant himself. He calms her, challenges her, and has loved her for the past five years.

Then we have Gideon. Oh Gideon my smart-assed sexy vampire hunter, one of the best characters I have read about this year. He is so troubled, and confused. Yet, he has a mouth on him that makes me laugh throughout the book. He has spent most of his life hunting and killing vampires, and now finds himself in love with a female vampire, and having very confusing sexual thoughts towards Daegan. He is so tough, and ready to battle at any moment, but inside he is a mess of fragile emotions. Joey W.Hill writes very dark, erotic sex scenes, but she gives us such an emotional connection to these characters, at times I forgot I was reading an erotic book. The sex scenes are not forced upon the reader, they seem to pop up in a very natural pacing. They are intense, and there is a particular dinner scene in this book that was difficult to read. But she gives us a reason for everything. Thoughts, emotions, and motives are explored from every angle for each character.

Speaking of the sex – Daegan and Gideon really explore each other in this book. On the surface, Gideon is so against mating with another male, but Daegan slowly forces the issue, and thank you Joey W. Hill! You all know I love my male/males scenes and there were a few in this book that made my smutty heart beat with joy. Gideon is so masculine, so against anything having to do with being with another male, but deep down, he wants it and it is so much fun watching his torment:

“Fuck off,” Gideon managed through gritted teeth, but groaned as Daegan put his knee against his stiff cock, rubbed with devilish knowledge over his balls. But the harder thing to resist was the mouth that brushed over his.

“Kiss me back, Gideon. Devour my mouth the way you’ve been devouring me with your eyes since I returned. Show me your hunger. Show me how much you missed me.”

Should I tell you how much he missed him? Oh it’s good stuff.

I just love these two books. I am so glad she didn’t rush through their story and actually gave us two books to fully appreciate the complexities of this trio. Excellent writing with a vampire world that is dark, intense and full of sexy moments.

I need a therapy session after this book! Gideon who I fell in love with at first meeting him in book 1 is so torn about what it is that he wants and what's meant to be for him. He is forced into the role of 3rd servant to save Anwyn, who I only like when she is part of the trinity, is brought to council and then forced to play by their rules. We all know by now what happens at the dinners. I thought that Gideon as a servant was treated the worst of any servant not only because he is a vampire hunter but Anwyn and Daegan have to show the council that they "own" him. It killed me to see him whipped and forced to degradation to the point of humiliation. I was so relieved when Daegan stepped in at just the right moment. I also loved that Gideon saved Daegan in the showdown it just shows how much they need each other.

The trinity in this book was amazing, each one of them fitting together perfectly. Even Anwyn at the end made me cry by letting him go even as she sacrificed her own vampire feelings. Gideon leaving started what was the best part of the book for me. It was so emotional and him thinking that he never belonged with them or to them was so sad. I loved this part of the book because it showed all of them at their most vulnerable. This book was also exciting and I never knew what was going to happen all I knew is that Gideon has a mark on him that was undeniable.

Now, just a couple of words on Daegan. He is my favorite character in this entire series. He just has this way about him, he is so sure of himself always dominant and so careful with Gideon that it breaks my heart. The way he respects him as a vampire hunter and trusts him was everything Gideon needed. Daegan knew how hard it was for Gideon, he could've marked him from the beginning but waited for Gideon to want it. When Daegan showed up to save the day I almost stood up and started shouting hooray! He refused to let Gideon not own up to the feelings he had for both him and Anwyn. He just never gave up and for that reason besides the fact he is hot and has amazing sex he is my favorite.

I don't know what to say or how to even express how much this book moved me. I'm sure my words will fall short of how much I really loved it.
Joey is an expert at driving my emotions over the top. It was a gut wrenching for me. Had my stomach so tight and twisted that I had to put it down several times, and I mean in a good way. I loved all three of these unique and compelling characters. It could have gone on and on and I still would not have gotten enough. It's an intense, senual read and Joey is the best when it comes to pulling the reader in and not letting them go. I loved how Gideon, Anwyn and Daegan each had their crosses to bare and overcome.
Joey's words form such awesome pictures in my mind, I'm actually in the scenes watching the events unfold before my eyes.
How does one take you from vicious, evil scenes to such senuality is beyond me, but Joey knows how to pull it off. This book from start to finish is one hell of a read one I highly recommend to one and all. If you haven't this series you owe to yourself to buy it and share with your reading friends. It will move you like nothing you've ever read; guaranteed!
When you read the back cover of the book and read the reviews, each one states exactly how I feel about this series; hands down
It's definitely in my top ten series. LOVED IT, WANT MORE OF IT, MISS THEM ALREADY!!!

Could not put this down, read through the small hours..
Continues the story of Gideon, Daegan and Anwyn. Seriously hot story of vampire menage and BDSM! Loved the relationship between the super cool 700 year old vampire Daegan and angst-ridden ex vampire-hunter Gideon.
"For so long you felt alone, watching out for others," the vampire murmured into the crown of his head. "Now you have both of us. Just as we have you."

Vampire Trinity (Vampire Queen) by Joey W. Hill
Erotic Paranormal Romance- Sep 7, 2010
4 stars

Joey Hill does it again. Her vampire series pushes the edge and is certainly not for any reader who likes 'tame' romance.

Anwyn is a newly turned vampire. One who was turned against her will. She is part of a young vampire triad. The 2 other members are a vampire hunter named Gideon who wants his independence from the triad and a powerful and seductive vampire named Daegan. Anwyn cares for Gideon but realizes he doesn’t not want to be her vampire servant and he definitely doesn’t want to be in a relationship with another man! Anwyn and Daegan want to prove him wrong. But, Daegan has left their group and won't come back until Anwyn asks him to. He understands Anywn has emotional scars that she needs to overcome before she accepts him and becoming a vampire. Gideon's past as a vampire hunter has also come haunt them as the Vampire Council seeks retribution for his kills. But will Gideon bow down to them and become a vampire servant? Will they be able to have a lasting relationship or will their pasts and emotional scars tear them apart?

The author does not hold back as she goes straight into the life style of BDSM. This story was imaginative and lush but not for the faint of heart. There are ménage scenes and situations in the story are not always cut and dried and even coerced. Joey Hill explores the dark, sexy and unconventional alternative lifestyle. Anwyn is a dominatrix or mistress and both her men are also dominant men. While a large part of this book does include sex it also features characters that are 3 dimensional. They all have a deep pain in their past that makes them sympathetic. Particularly Gideon who was a strong vampire hunter and now is the submissive in their triad. Can he accept the Anwyn and Daegan for being vampires and accept them even if he does want them? I also enjoyed that the author delves deep into the vampire society and it was interesting to read about the vampire hierarchy and politics.

Complex, gritty and edgy. This is not the typical romance but one for readers who enjoy a lot of spice and dark fantasy.

Finally! Daegan and Gideon are so hot. I melt just reading about them. Anwyn is one lucky lucky gal. I do enjoy the conflict Gideon goes through to help Anwyn. His questions in how he feels about Daegan are interesting too. The emotional tug I feel for each of them is hard to describe in a few words - sorrow, frustration, longing.

Daegan gave up so much for Anwyn as did Gideon. The self sacrificing could have been cheesy or melodramatic but ended up more poignant for me. I loved this conclusion of this triad. I hope to see them show up in following books in this series. They are hot. I'd really like to see Gideon taken by Daegan while pleasuring Anwyn. {hint hint, Ms. Hill!}

This is a comprehensive review of the first eight books in the series.

Passionate, raw, often painful to read. Hill takes D/s to a supernatural level that knows no bounds. The world she creates is haunting and addicting, rife with floggers, whips, paddles and fangs. It hurts so good, stabbing way down in the deep dark squishy part of the soul.

I read Vampire Mistress and Vampire Trinity some years ago, but I have read them multiple times since then. I’m a Joey Hill fangirl, but of all her many wonderful books, I love those two the best. Anwyn, Daegan and Gideon Green are such a deliciously sexy trio. Joey always delivers red-hot sex and delicious romance, but the tension and drama between the three characters, along with their wonderful chemistry add up to a duology. Anyone who loves dark and dangerous Alpha Males will adore Daegan and Gideon, and Anwyn is a match for them both.

I thought this would be funny bad but it's just regular bad. Very poor decision to treat schizophrenia like a transmitable disease vampires can give people, and it also had a lot of commentary on homelessness and slavery that I didn't appreciate. Was definitely at value village for a reason.

This novel was pretty middle-of-the-road. I hadn't read any of the other books in the series (not even the direct prequel to this that was the first "half" of the story) and didn't feel like I was missing anything. Partly because this love triangle didn't seem to involve many other characters in the series, and partly because Hill explains EVERYTHING down to the very last detail. While useful for me, I think it would have been overdone and annoying for readers who knew everything from previous books.

I love a good love triangle where one (or both) of the guys are reluctant to get together. Check. I also love a good romance where there is a legitimate conflict keeping the lovers apart (she is a vampire, he is a vampire hunter). Check. Unfortunately, the story just wasn't pushed far enough.

Anwyn was presented as the main character but the story spends most of its time in Gideon's POV. That kinda makes sense since Gideon is the one with the biggest choice to make, but the story felt weirdly weighted toward him. A lot of the times the POV character (usually Gideon) was watching the other characters take action and feeling/guessing at their emotions as events happened. Why not write those chapters from the POV of the character the event is happening to? Also, the mind-reading ability made sense to the mythos, but often felt like lazy writing when everyone always knows exactly what everyone else is thinking and feeling.

More than half the text was the POV character explaining their thoughts and feelings, or explaining their interpretation of the other characters' thoughts and feelings. It got tiring fast. Not much actually happened plot wise - most of it is sitting around and waiting. Anwyn worries about bad things happening a lot, and half of them never do, setting up an expectation for action and drama that never follows through. Hill needs to be less kind to her characters! Some events that would have been interesting to see on the page, like Anwyn's seizures, were always glossed over but then mused over AT LENGTH after-the-fact, which was irritating.

The sex scenes were good but not the kind I flag to return to over and over again ;) They were also repetitive - Three people plus occasional others joining in and they always formed up in the exact same position and did the exact same thing, just with varying levels of reluctance from Gideon. I would loved to have seen variety!

The ending was exactly what you'd expect. I loved Gideon's struggle and his emotions and conflict at the end felt very real, but

Overall: not terrible, but also not jumping to the top of my recommendations pile.

I did found this conclusion to Gideon's story to be a fulfilling one, to be sure. As started in Vampire Mistress, Gideon, former vampire hunter and now third-marked servant, works with Daegan Rei, vamp and Council assassin, to ease Anwyn's transition into the vampire world. As a newly turned vamp by another vamp of "poor stock" (lol), she suffers from seizures that are difficult to control and put her in jeopardy when she must come before the Council to be validated as a "made" vampire. Gideon finds it a struggle to come to grips with his new role, having been the very heterosexual alpha male and warrior all his adult life, now with compelling feelings to serve not only Anwyn as Mistress, but also Daegan, as Master. Their prep to go before the Council is a very intense thing to watch. While Gideon serves, he does not submit, which is a big distinction and very entertaining. The banter between Daegan and Gideon is edgy and sometimes rife with sexual tension. I did find some of the situations and "almost"s when visiting the Council in Berlin to be VERY uncomfortable. While Daegan is among the most noble of the vamp males, many of the Council are not. There are things that ride consensuality here or are so only by coercion. But I loved that while Gideon gives of himself, he never plays the pawn and his vamp protectors are fierce in their love and protection. The conclusion is amazing and beautiful. What I wanted most was for Gideon to never lose himself, to be the warrior always, and to never become a doormat. I'm an alpha male girl, and I don't enjoy seeing that, even if a male is serving a mistress. I liken it to the knight who earns his queen's favor. Chivalry is attractive, cowering under someone's stiletto is not. At least for me. Thankfully, my wish was fulfilled :) So, for all the readers of romance and erotica that are turned off by male submission, I would give this a try if you're okay with intense BDSM and D/s.

I've been a fan of the Vampire Queen world from Joey W. Hill now for some time so when I found this book, I had to get it. Unfortunately within the first few pages I was turned off. My strong female vampires with strong male servants seemed to have weakened with a mental health issue (several actually) and the addition of a male vampire. I kept reading.

Hill still does a good job of balancing the sex with the darkness inherit in being a vampire. The additional man, Daegan, is a positive male dominant role model but as I kept reading, I got this sense that the story was claiming that even a dominant woman would bend to the right dominant man and I don't believe that is true, merely romantic sexism. That deeply disappointed me. I kept hoping the book and the triad would grow on me so I kept reading.

Unfortunately I can't say that I ever really felt connected to these three characters. That's odd since I am in a triad with the same F-M-M structure. I think it really was the hidden sexism which was shown again the greater vampire society but also implied in the story. I do like that by the end, all three characters have changed a bit, particularly the servant, Gideon. I just wish I had been able to feel closer to their fight, external and internal, as I had with the books starring Lyssa.

* * * * 3/4

--This book in 6 words:

near perfect conclusion to Vampire Mistress

--

This book is the second half of a complete story beginning with Vampire Mistress (which I gave 5 stars to). I believe the characters continued to develop beautifully and realistically. I really loved getting to see more of Deagan! I enjoyed the change in scenery and the action at the end (which was the only point in the book I had to stop myself from scanning to get to the end because I was so on the edge of my seat). I also liked learning more about what a vampire servant meant to different vampires (I didn’t know much about this since I began the series with VM).

The only reason this book got a lower score than the first was editing issues. The POVs didn’t seem to blend nearly as smoothly as they did in the first book. At some points I had to double check to see who was speaking. I’m even thinking there was a time or two when the wrong name was used. Also, there was a few other issues like someone receiving oral pleasure and then unzipping their jeans a few minutes after (I have slight OCD and issues like that tend to bug me).

This writer is becoming one of my favourites. This book was amazing!

Daegan Vampire. Gideon Vampire Hunter and Anwyn a new fleging that was brutally attacked. The unravelling of this story brings together these three characters whereby they deal not only with their own mental and emotional turmoil but also with each other. As simplistic as this sounds their is the issue of two Alpha Warriors (Vampire; Daegan & Vampire Hunter; Gideon) having to deal and accept each other and also help Anwyn with her transition and her gremlins. This book doesn't gloss over what vampires are; predators as it is in their nature. There are BDSM scenes in this book but before you cringe. The way Joey has written them, BDSM is not a dirty word.

The other thing I liked about this book is that you think you have the story all figured out between the characters until you get towards the end.

This book has the emotional, mental, sensual, enthralling, sexual tension content to stimulate the brain sensors. I really like this writer's style. The only thing I didn't like about this book is that it finished.

Highly recommend, but I would read Vampire Mistress prior to this book.

I loved this concluding episode in Club Atlantis part of Vampire Queens series. Although not essential to read all the books in this series I would recommend reading Vampire Mistress before this one as the two books make a complete story.
In this second book we get to see more of vampire politics and cruelty, some of the scenes at the vampire council are pretty hardcore so if you prefer your sex scenes vanilla then this could be the end of the road for you. Personally I enjoyed it and I really felt the love between these three, even of things didn't go entirely smoothly for a while and I feared we would lose either Daegan or Gideon (which to be honest would be intolerable).
These two books kept me up nights (only because I couldn't put them down). If you enjoy a good bit of 'kink' in your reading and you love sexy vampires with serious Dom tendencies then I would say give these books a try I don't think you will be disappointed.

Wow - Daegan Rai can come and rescue me any time. He is Anwyn and Gideon's saviour and along the way he gets rescued as well. I really liked this book. I must say Joey has a way of writing a scene which does not emasculate the man at all but actually makes him more sexy. Well done.

You should read this book if you liked Joey's other books - I did and cannot wait to read more of them in her other books.

Fantastic! I was at first hesitant to read these as although I read a lot of books with strong female leads I usually don’t go for total femdom. The lead in these two books is Anwyn Naime a Domme who owns a fetish club. So I was not prepared to be blown away by this intelligent, sensitive, well written story. But as you may have guess I sit here all agog regretting that it took me so long to read these. Now I will have to get and devour the rest of the books in this series.

The book was ok but the author didn't like Deagan be the alpha male that he could have been. The emotional part didn't surface for me until the last few chapter. I was really looking forward tow the relationship between Deagan and Gideon but it fell short with only a little bit at the end. But again I say it was the end of the book.

So, I'll start by saying that this rating is complessive of the whole story arc for this threesome, which means that it's not just about Vampire Trinity but it also includes "Vampire Mistress".

Funnily enough, this book was the first I read of this author, and with this I mean that I read it even before Vampire Mistress. At this point, why don't I read a series in order? I have no idea, but sometimes I still do it. Nevertheless, I think it was a good thing. Because, despite the fact that this book is utterly out of my comfort zone, so far that I'm honestly surprised I even picked it up, it is also one of the best of this series. If I had started in order, I'm not sure I would have given it a chance at all. Because despite the amazing writing style, all the previous books (aside for Vampire Mistress itself)fall very short for me.

So, why did I enjoy the story of Gideon, Daegan and Anwyn ? Well, for one, I loved how they all really loved each other. It wasn't just Anwyn that kept them together. In "Vampire Mistress" the transformation of Anwyn in a Vampire may be what brought them together, but in the course of these two books it wasn't just Anwyn relationship with Daegan and her relationship with Gideon that was developed, but also the one between Gideon and Daegan. Because, I'll be honest, if I'm going to read of a threesome/menagerie as the main characters then I also want to see real love and affection between all the people involved, not a mini harem. And to see that happen was very satisfactory. I also loved how the sex scenes were relevant for the characters and the development of their relationship and they weren't there just for the sake of it. It really had a deep emotional impact.

Another aspect I truly enjoyed is how their relationship with one another helped the characters really develop. It was fantastic to see Anwyl personal journey. From a victim of a crazy vampire who, due to her transformation, suffers from dangerous seizures, to someone who had to learn to accept being a vampire and who had to relearn to trust herself and her Instincts and differentiate them with those driven by her vampire nature (which would incite her to take without restrain and it's saidstic to boot).

Gideon, actually, is my favourite character of the whole series so far. Witty, brave but also ridden by vengeance and a sense of worthlessness. And I loved how, through his relationship with Anwyn and Daegan he start to learn to give himself a chance, to trust them and believe in their love for him. Even if, in his self depreciation he may not feel worth of it. Even if in doing that he needs to accept and look at Anwyn as a vampire, stopping to justificate his action and lying to himself saying that he does it because she is a victim. Even, especially so, when he has to accept that he really cares and love Daegan even if he is a male vampire. Something that was everything against he stood for.
And in the majority of the situations I really hate how the "human" has to be a servant. But in their cases, I feel like Gideon, despite being the "submissive one" when they had sex, was an equal in their relationship. And not just because he helps with Anwyn's seizure. I'm still not a fan of the servant status but at the same time I can't see Gideon with anyone else but Anwin AND Daegan.

As for Daegan. Well the guy is a great character. I really appreciated how he was always ready to be the bad guy and the harsh decisions, if that meant protecting those he cared for. I loved how he renounced to make Anwyn his servant when she was still human because he realized it would destroy her/wouldn't suit her. And I loved how he bantered with Gideon, asking his opinion and trusting it, even if he doesn't necessarily agree with him. To be honest, he is also the one that see less development. But he is also the most steady out of the 3 of them. He wasn't just transformed by a crazy vampire into a vampire whose mental state is just as precarious (poor Anwyin) and he isn't a self destruction wrecking ball like Gideon. He is the one that has to protect, guide and help them when they are too blind to do that. So he does that. Being a 700 years old vampire with iron control and who has loved only two people in his whole life (Gideon and Anwin) and who never let anyone else as close helped doing that.

Another aspect that I wish I got to read more about, were his feelings for Gideon. His feelings for Anwyin were clear from Vampire Mistress, and in that same book, it's clear that he start to see Gideon differently and understand how he fits with himself and Anwyin. But there isn't much from his POV in Vampire Trinity.

That, coupled with the more bartering nature of relationship, meant that his relationship with Gideon felt less romantic than the one with Anwyn and there were moment were it felt like the one connecting Gideon and Daegan was Anwyn herself.

Which is one of the reason why I gave the book the rating of 4 instead of an higher one

That said, through Anwyn's POV we also see how he can be possessive of Gideon and want him. And, as I said, it's quite clear that Daegan was the first to realize how they all belonged together and was sure/trusted that it would happen, whereas Anwyn wished for it because she loved both Daegan and Gideon, (but at the same time wasn't sure they would care for each other in the same way), and Gideon just fought with it all.

There are also two short stories/noveas written by the author and found in her website further develop the relationship between Gideon and Daegan and I think that they are necessary for their relationship and for the three of them in general. However, I didn't take them into consideration in the ranking because I wanted to rate it based only on Vampire Mistress and Vampire Trinity.

Important WARNING, It's also A SPOILER but I think it should be taken into consideration when reading the book because it's bloody and cruel.

As I always made clear, Vampires in this universe are sadistic bast*rds, and they also mix this sadistic urges with sex. So there is a scene where Anwyin, Daegan and Gideon are forced in a very sadistic and terrible situation by the Vampire Council. In this situation, they force Anwyn to whip Gideon while he gives oral sex to Daegan. It's not the playful whipping (if there is one) but punishing and hurtful. It's cruel and bloody. And they can't refuse because the council wants Daegan to prove he can control Anwyn and Gideon and at the same time prove he is loyal to them. They also wants Anwyn to prove that Gideon is a true servant under her command and want to punish Gideon. They are in a situation where they can't refuse because the Vampire Council is literally waiting for a chance to kill Gideon (who was the best vampire hunter and killed too many of them) , Anwyn (because she is deemed unstable) and Daegan (because he is dangerous and they fear him). The aren't left a choice. Neither Daegan or Anwyn initiate the situation, they actually hate it and are against it. But if they don't do that, all 3 of them die. Gideon AGREES to the punishment so that they can all live. And while I don't like (at all) how the situation was also romanticized, I do appreciate how they stood together (and, at least Anwyl was profondously disgusted by the situation and came to despise the response of her own vampiri nature). Of course, it also reinforces how terrible the status of a servant is, if not for the treatment by the "Master" vampire, by other vampires and their politics. However it's also going to be only time Gideon is forced in that type of situation and it was, as I said, forced (neither Daegan or Anwyn wanted it) and they left Gideon the choice (something they were able to do because of the mental link between them). Unfortunately, the scene was still romanticized a bit too much for me, so this is another element that made me lower the rating of the book. I think the author should have conveyed how they were able to stand together in such a situation a bit differently.
There is also a scene of dubious consent. It was very important, both because it was a very emotionally impactful moment (for all those involved) but also because it was just before they went to the council and Gideon himself needed to confront the possible situations he would have to face. That said, the consent is dubious so, if it's a trigger people shouldn't read this book.
Then again, considering how Anwyn became a vampire, if that's a trigger then I wouldn't recommend neither Vampire Mistress or Vampire Trinity.

Regardless, even if I really enjoyed Vampire Mistress and Vampire Trinity, I don't necessarily recommend them. They aren't "easy" books, they aren't light or funny, there is violence and a very heavy BDSM theme....They aren't the type of books that I absolute adore and can't fathom how people don't love them as well because, while I adore them, I also see why other people may not like them. So, yeah, I loved Vampire Mistress and Vampire Trinity, but they aren't books I would recommend to everyone.

In general, I'm not sure I would recommend this series as it's one I'm very conflicted about. The BDSM element isn't necessarily a bad element, as it's mainly one out of my comfort zone. I'm not really comfortable with it, but I'm not against it either. But there are things that are not okay for me. One is the sharing element (servants are expected to have sex with each other during vampire gatherings), which is something that' s a big nope for me. Luckily, in these two book there is only a very small one (enforced again by the Vampire Council) but not any others (if you don't count the ones with the 3 of them, which I don't). But in other books of the series, these scenes are more present and, while they are supposed to show how much the "servant" wants to "please" their servant Vampire they are a big no for me. The excuse given just make it worse, as far as I'm concerned. And the second aspect is obviously the fact that, at the end of the day, the concept of "human servant" remain. No matter how much the author tries to make it sound poetic and romantic, or how important servants are for the Vampire, at the end of the day it's still deeply toxic. At the same time tough, the author writes incredibly well, the majority of the time she really weave emotions on the page and truly develop the characters. But there are also many elements in the books of this series that I truly dislike. So yeah, I loved Vampire Trinity and Vampire Mistress, but this series is one I'm very conflicted about. It has many yes but just as many no, and some of those no are even more resounding.

Brilliant, as expected although I still hold firm to my belief from the first book in this duet that Anwyn was the third wheel to the story. She didn't cut it for me, everyone praised her enormously, saying she's formidable and extraordinary but I just didn't see it. Couldn't form a connection to her character.

Daegan and Gideon on the other hand, wow. What a beautiful development between them and to think I was robbed of their one on one session. It was a cruel disappointment I'm not gonna lie, I was sure Joey was gonna give us that.

I also need to make a fascinating and heartbreaking mention of what Daegan revealed at the end about his father being an actual angel. It fucking hit me because I instantly thought of another of the author's books, Mirror of my soul, where the heroine, Marguerite, lost her twin brother when they were young but by the end of that book it's made pretty clear that her brother became an angel. This book now made those vague references click and I almost sobbed. Marguerite's endearment by Tyler was also angel, and she had those scars on her back that reminded Tyler of broken wings.

I love how the author connects the 2 series discretely, adding fascinating details to a picture I already thought complete.

Edit: literally 5 minutes later I find that there is a novella containing Dagean and Gideon's one on one that I just bitched about 🤣
Ain't life just sweet like that? *skips happily and trips on the way to read it*
