Even though the cover turned me off (A Word Of Advice: Self Published Authors, if your cover looks like your cousin's best friend drew it, no one will want to look inside)I tried, I really tried, to finish this book; especially since it started strong, and I love "Girlfriend" stories. Unfortunately, it was too Over The Top for me. I knew where Ms Wells was trying to go with this, at least I think I do. It seems as though Wells was attempting to write a sort of Urban Tall Tale, a la Paul Bunyan. It simply didn't work for me, and I was unable to finish it. It's a shame, too: Hoochie was one of the better-edited self-pub books I've read this month.
